The wrestling industry has become cutthroat in recent years, and because of the boom in the exposure of the content over time, wrestlers tend to become more vocal and reveal secrets about the product or co-workers in interviews. We’ve seen so many wrestlers getting interviewed in non-kayfabe form over the years, as some of these individuals tend to spill the beans on the secrets inside the industry.
Whether it be wrestlers or former wrestlers from companies like WWE or WCW, they tend to get a bit too revealing, just to get a bit fame when they are outside the WWE. There have been some particular wrestlers who have made some really bold confessions about their peers in the WWE, while others have made confessions which might be shocking but are relatively believable. Most of these confessions are made to let the fans know about the dirt that gets thrown around behind the scenes.
Because of the increase of podcasts and access to interviews by various wrestling sources, there have been numerous confessions made by wrestlers over the past few years. A few of them are particularly baffling, as we take a look at these 15 shocking confessions made by wrestlers.
15 Raven - Partying With The Boss' Son
Raven was someone who was flying in the 90s, as he was one of wrestling most bizarre and terrifying characters of the decade and was a massive hit in WCW and ECW. He later made the lucrative move to WWE, where things began to head south for him when he was shifted to their Hardcore Division. His time as a WWE wrestler was over once the Attitude Era ended and he got a job in WWE’s creative team. But things didn’t go so well for him at the time, as he revealed it all on Chris Jericho’s podcast. Raven apparently violated WWE’s “sex policy” of getting intimate with co-workers, but his biggest sin was drinking with the boss’s son. Raven confessed of partying hard with Shane McMahon at the time, as they would drink till 3-4 AM in the morning! Vince McMahon couldn't have been pleased. Yikes!
14 Ahmed Johnson - Stone Cold Is A Racist
Ahmed Johnson might be remembered by some of the pre-Attitude Era fans as this promising African-American wrestler who had an impressive few months in the WWE before being ravaged by injuries. Johnson is now a retired wrestler who has been outside wrestling for a long time, but he gave a scathing shoot interview a few years ago. In that interview, Johnson made a ghastly confession on Stone Cold Steve Austin where he accused him of being a racist. Ahmed spoke of one time after he won the Intercontinental Championship of someone having written: “Congratulations N****r” in his rental car and Johnson speculates that to be Austin as well. These are some serious allegations on someone as popular as Stone Cold and even though it might be rantings of an old washed up wrestler, it could also be true knowing some of Austin’s personal controversies of the past.
13 Jerry "The King" Lawler - Admits To Breaking Paul Heyman's Jaw
Jerry “The King” Lawler might have earned a lot of respect over the years for his contribution to the wrestling industry, but recent controversies have proved how Lawler has a bad temper in real life. Jerry was a real hot-shot in the Independent circuit in the mid-80s and had a real hold at the time, and a young Paul Heyman was also making his way into the wrestling business at the time. Apparently, the two had a lot of heat at the time, which resulted in Lawler legitimately breaking Heyman’s jaw. Jerry spoke about this situation in an interview, where he confessed to having broken Paul’s jaw on purpose as he really hated him back then. This goes on to show just how heated it can get in the Independent scene between bookers and “The King” literally took this issue into his own hands.
12 Scott Steiner - Hogan Continued To Hold Bret Hart Back In WCW
Scott Steiner might be considered as one of the more entertaining wrestlers of his time, but Big Poppa Pump’ is an incredible loudmouth who loves to give his opinion on everything. It’s been evident for the past few years that Steiner just does not like Hulk Hogan, so he also made an interesting confession on the real life heat between Bret Hart and Hogan back in their WCW days. Steiner spoke about how Hart was brought in as a major star, but Hogan used his backstage influence to keep Hart grounded and made sure that he was always seen as “THE” top star of WCW. Steiner indicated that Hogan was the sole responsible for ruining Hart in WCW in this revealing confession, with this interesting rant by Steiner fueling more speculation about the gravity of the Hogan-Hart rivalry in the 90s.
11 Judas Devlin - Bill Demott's Abuse
Many WWE fans actually might not remember Judas Devlin, who was a developmental wrestler for WWE in 2012, but he made headlines a few years back when he made a disturbing confession about his time training under Bill DeMott. Devlin wrote in an online letter about the awful way in which DeMott would train the wrestlers, often calling them disgusting names and abusing them when their performance level wasn’t good enough. He also spoke about how he misbehaved with wrestlers, where he told Enzo Amore that “he hopes he dies” and slapping and bullying him all the time. This stunning confession revealed a lot of dirt on DeMott, who was immediately made to step down as the head trainer at WWE’s Performance Center and left the company, with Devlin saving many future trainees from facing the same nightmares he and many others did.
10 Tyler Reks - John Cena Is A Bully
Tyler Reks might be remembered by wrestling fans as this promising, well-built wrestler who was in the WWE a few years back, but he was released for "not being good enough" apparently. Well, Reks decided to reveal it all in some interviews after he left the WWE, making some very baffling confessions about what kind of a person John Cena is in the back. Reks revealed that Cena absolutely thrashed him in front of everyone in the back one day for using his "Burning Hammer" finisher which resembled Cena's AA. He also made a confession about how Cena would bully Alex Riley in the back, trying to get him fired from the company time and again. While Tyler Reks might seem like a bitter, washed-up wrestler at this point, many have confessed some disgusting things about the "real" Cena and this could prove how mean he is in the back.
9 Jeff Hardy - JBL Hazing
Jeff Hardy may have had a few problems in his life early on, but he's currently in great shape and back to where he belongs in the WWE with brother Matt. But when the two were still "juniors" during the Attitude Era, Jeff Hardy would also be a victim of JBL's hazing at the time. Jeff confessed in his book about how JBL used to haze the Hardy's back in the day, and they got a first-hand experience after failing to do an "assignment" ordered by him. The Hardy's returned from a match one night to find their bags disappeared, which contained all their personal property. Later, they'd see JBL walking in with a cool nature and it's obvious that he'd done it. They got it back from the dumpster where he threw them into, as this shows how even someone like Jeff was victim to JBL's terrible hazing.
8 Tommy Dreamer - Sandman Overdoses, Wrestles The Same Day
ECW was the real land of extreme back in the 90s, as its wrestlers were no different either as they had some mad addictions to make the wrestling even more violent. So Tommy Dreamer has made a lot of confessions about just how crazy it got during his time in ECW, as many of the prime wrestlers traveled around together. In one really shocking confession, Dreamer revealed about how The Sandman almost died by drug overdose one time when they were traveling together. He did legally die for some time before Dreamer and co could revive him and send him to a hospital where he was saved. The madman in Sandman even made it to the ECW show that same day, as this stunning confession goes on to show just how wild it got back in the days and just how much of a maniac the Sandman really was.
7 Hulk Hogan - Harley Race Pulled Out A Gun
Hulk Hogan hasn't been one to shy away from making revelations about his time in the WWE, but the most outrageous confession he made has to be when Harley Race allegedly pulled a gun on Hogan. WWE was taking over the country's wrestling at the time, as the NWA (Harley's promotion) had a live event in the Kansas City territory the same day WWE arrived for one as well. Obviously, most people went to watch Hogan in WWE and this pissed off Harley who literally took a gun and went after Hogan. Hulk revealed about how he got out of the bathroom to see Harley pointing a 9MM gun at him, threatening to blow his knee-caps off. Thankfully nothing bad happened there, but this just goes on to show how much of a mad-man Race was at the time and how deep his anger for WWE and Hogan was at the time.
6 CM Punk - WWE's Mistreatment
When CM Punk left the WWE in early 2014, many were shocked at what had transpired and when he later revealed himself to be retired from wrestling in Colt Cabana's podcast. The Straight Edge Superstar was one of WWE's best wrestlers before leaving, but he made some really shocking confessions about the company in the podcast. Punk stated that he was actually injured in the Royal Rumble match, where he suffered a concussion early on but that was dismissed by the WWE. He later revealed to have wrestled with a staph infection in his back, and that he was actually fired by the WWE instead of quitting. Punk also had some unkind words for Ryback, saying that he had taken decades off his life and that the Big Guy had been abusing steroids, as these memorable confessions are something which rattled the wrestling world for a long time.
5 Rikishi - Good Ol' JR Not As Nice As Reputation Suggests
We all loved Rikishi during the Attitude Era, as this chilled out big guy was the complete entertainment package because of his wrestling and his moves when not wrestling. Rikishi would become quite famous at the time for being "too cool" and because of his terrifying "Stinkface", but apparently he didn't please everyone in the back. Rikishi gave a shoot interview a few years ago, where he unearthed some dirt on none other than good ol' Jim Ross. Rikishi spoke about how he would be mistreated by JR when he was in the WWE, as Ross would apparently try to rile him up and treat him very unfairly as compared to other wrestlers. Rikishi even indicated that Ross might not really like heavy wrestlers like him and this was a really shocking confession because one can't really take Jim Ross to be particularly mean to anyone.
4 Ryback - Various Statements To Stay Relevant
Ryback might've been one of WWE"s more intimidating wrestlers when he was at his peak a few years ago, but his stock kept on falling in the past few years and he was fired by the WWE because of it. Since then, he has been extremely bitter about the company and has taken the opportunity to make many baffling confessions about Vince McMahon and other things. The most outrageous confession he made was probably that Vince McMahon purposefully tanked his merchandise sales to "bury him". He later also revealed that he was supposed to be WWE's top heel and "squash" AJ Styles at WrestleMania 32, but Vince lied to him. The Big Guy also confessed about him being the one who invented The Shield's triple powerbomb move and regardless of how stunning these revelations are from him, it's just an attention-seeking ploy to make sure the fans don't forget him.
3 Alberto Del Rio - Ranting About Supposed Pay Issues And Racism
Alberto Del Rio has had a really bittersweet relationship with the WWE over the years, as he became a superstar in the company in his first stint but his return to the company wasn't really that good. He left WWE yet again last year and has been extremely bitter towards the company. Del Rio recently went on a drunken rant on Periscope, where he made some surprising confessions about WWE. Del Rio stated that most wrestlers only make $500 in PPV shows and that he's glad to not be part of the company. He continued with a scathing rant on Triple H, whom he called a "big nose man with no b***s" and that WWE was a company where they judge you by the skin color unlike in TNA. One can't really believe these drunken confessions by someone like Del Rio, whose only degrading his own name with these mindless rants.
2 Bruce Prichard - The Rock And Triple H Do Not Like Each Other
Bruce Prichard won't really be remembered as a successful wrestler for the WWE, but he was one of the company's top creative guys, especially when he worked wonders for them during the Attitude Era. Prichard has been released by the WWE for some years now, and he took that opportunity to reveal some dirt about backstage and made a shocking confession in particular. Prichard revealed it all in an interview about how The Rock and Triple H just didn't like each other back in the day, as they had a lot of professional jealousy at the time. They'd go off-script to try to own each other on Live TV, also getting into a lot of arguments and heated scuffles in the back during both their rise. He also confessed that they probably don't like each other to this day, as Prichard shed some light on the two's real life heat which at this point seems very real.
1 Sunny - Who She Slept With
Sunny was the Diva who ruled over the wrestling industry in the 90s, but as soon as her stock began to fall, she started revealing a lot of things in a desperate attempt to be relevant again. In recent interviews, Sunny has made numerous glaring confessions where she confirmed to be have been in a relationship with Shawn Michaels for nine months and that HBK was "a hungry animal" when it came to sleeping with her. Sunny also revealed to have had an affair with Chris Masters, who gave her a lot of pleasure and was "by far" the best when it came to certain acts. She later also confessed to having been part of a one-night stand with Dolph Ziggler back in 2010, revealing that Ziggler had "amazing stamina" and that the two went at it for 7 hours! All these confessions seem like attention-seeking on Sunny's part, who doesn't seem to care anymore about how people see her.
