15 Things You NEED To Know About Sunny’s Relationships

Due to her recent antics, Sunny might currently be looked down upon by many in the wrestling community, but no one can deny the fact that she helped female wrestlers gain relevance in the industry, as she dazzled fans with her fantastic figure and personality in the 90s. She played a big part in bringing in the Attitude Era and is regarded as one of the most influential managers of all time, having managed an array of superstars during her time. She was even AOL's most downloaded woman of the year in 1996.

But while the sensational Diva might have been the most dazzling figure in the ring, behind the scenes she had a lot of issues with her relationships and substance abuse. You could even say that her addictions to drugs and men went hand-in-hand.

Let's take a look at 15 things you need to know about Sunny's relationships.

15 Chris Candido Was Her Childhood Sweetheart

via dailywrestlingnews.com

Before Sunny aspired to become a wrestling star, she was just an ordinary girl full of dreams in her youth who wanted to be a doctor or a plastic surgeon. Her boyfriend in school was Chris Candido, who himself wanted to be a wrestler. He wrestled in the independent circuit for some years in New Jersey, before going onto make the big leagues as Sunny followed with him into the wrestling world. They were madly in love during the time, travelling alongside each other and also became a part of the BodyDonnas where Candido was "Kip" and Sunny was the sexy manager. Regardless of whatever transpired in the future, Sunny's first love was always Chris Candido and her love for him is what made her end up in the environment of wrestling which changed her life forever.

14 She Hooked Up With The British Bulldog

via wikimedia.com/pwmania.com

Sunny almost hooked up with all the top stars in the WWE during her time, as she reportedly had an affair with The British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith when she was in the company. Speaking on her relationships in the WWE in a shoot, Sunny herself admitted to having hooked up with British Bulldog a couple of times when on the road together after she had parted with Shawn Michaels, but denied it ever being a relationship as she found the Bulldog to be a pretty weird guy to hang around with. Apparently The Bulldog's wife didn't know about this until it was revealed by Sunny, so it's rather surprising to know about the length of Sunny's relationships in the WWE as she also fooled around with the Bulldog after her relationship with HBK ended.

13 She Hooked Up With People Pretending To Be Wrestlers

via pwmania.com

Sunny might have been hot stuff in the wrestling industry in the 90s, but her popularity dried up with the turn of the century, as she would mostly make appearances in the Indy circuit after her short ECW stint. The diva's condition seemed to get worse after she was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, as she became more and more desperate for attention. A source claims that Sunny hooked up with a lot of people after it, as she also apparently hooked up with frauds who pretended to be wrestlers whom she had met on Facebook, as she once apparently fell in love with a Wade Barrett poser and even became best friends with a Michelle McCool fake until some friends told her that they weren't the real deals. It seems like Sunny was having real problems after her induction, as falling in love with frauds is a new low for her.

12 Sunny Had A Relationship With An Indy Wrestler Twelve Years Younger Than Her

So after her relationship with a doctor had ended, Sunny went back to dating random people as she fell in love with an independent wrestler, Damien Darling, who was twelve years younger than her. While that isn't a problem for someone like her, it turned out to be quite the volatile relationship which didn't really end up surviving for that much as it ended with Sunny accusing Darling of sexual abuse, and Darling stating that she had attacked him. Her life became worse after that as she'd be arrested multiple times; it seemed like this relationship had a bad effect on her as she should've never dated a random indy wrestler like that and ended up in a worse situation than she was before that.

11 Her Most Stable Relationship Was After Candido's Death

via alchetron.com

Sunny might have been deep into drugs and heading in the wrong direction after the turn of the century, but the death of Chris Candido in 2005 really opened up her mind for sometime as she became more sensible after that. She became clean and started studying Medical Technology and started to date a New Jersey cop named John as she was finally back on the right path. This was rewarded by WWE who brought her back to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2011, as things were going really well for her and her relationship with John was also very stable and happy. She'd obviously screw this up as well, but the years after the death of Candido were her cleanest in a long time, but she went back to the bad road of drugs and infidelity soon after.

10 She Had An Affair With Dolph Ziggler

Sunny has the reputation for having hookups with a lot of wrestlers, but it was rather surprising to discover that she was also fooling around with the "Showoff" Dolph Ziggler after making her return in the WWE. It was mostly when she was getting inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, as she apparently had an affair with Dolph Ziggler according to some sources which is rather surprising as she seemed to be in the right path during that time. Sunny's urge for men seems to have convinced her to hook-up with Ziggler. It's quite shocking to discover and is probably the reason why she broke up with John in the first place, as stuff like these is why her career is so full of controversy.

9 She Absolutely HATES The Chris Candido Documentary

via wrestlingnews.co

Chris Candido was the man who brought Sunny into the world of wrestling, and even though she got immersed into the fame and did some regretful stuff, Candido was always the one she could always trust her as he loved her despite all her antics. When Candido died, Sunny was deeply moved and was pretty sensitive when asked about him. So when the trailer for a documentary on Candido's life made by his brother hit the internet, Sunny was absolutely enraged by it as she thrashed the whole thing, stating that they never supported him and only used his status for their own benefits. She also went onto state the documentary as "fake" and urged fans to boycott it as everything about it was false, as she seemed to be pretty angry at Candido's family for pulling this stunt and didn't want his memory to be ruined and used by them for their own benefits.

8 She Apparently Wanted New Jack To Murder Her Boyfriend

via grantland.com

Sunny has had such a horrible history with drugs and other bad stuff that she didn't seemed to be bothered by her relationships being broken in the 90s, but seemed to become more paranoid about them as she became clean for some-time. After the death of Chris Candido, she managed to get in a relationship with a good guy named John, who was also a New Jersey police officer. So when things ended between the two soon after her induction into the hall of fame in 2011, she became really bitter about it. She apparently told New Jack(the madman from ECW) to murder her ex(John) as claimed by New Jack who posted on social media about it and thrashed her for asking her to kill a New Jersey cop. She'd later deny it, but one can take New Jack's claims seriously here as she seemed to become paranoid after this "perfect" relationship ended and her asking him to do this could be possible and goes to show how the drugs and bad stuff has affected her in the long run.

7 She Kept A Healthy Relationship With Candido Despite All Her Other Affairs

via madstepdad.proboards.com

Regardless of whatever she would do in her time in WWE and ECW, Chris Candido was always the man Sunny could go home to as he was her first-love and the man who brought her into the world of wrestling and they shared a deep bond which stretched till Candido's untimely death in 2005. Sunny would always maintain a very good relationship with Candido, who inspite knowing all her affairs and other drug problems kept close to her because of her love for her and Sunny also loved him back, with her lust getting the better of her at times. So it's not surprising knowing how affected she was by Candido's death, as he was not only her first love but her best friend and the only person she could rely on with all her heart as Sunny and Candido shared something very special till the very end and despite all the hazards could always rely on each other for a shoulder to cry on.

6 She Had A Nine-Month Relationship With Shawn Michaels

via photobucket.com

Sunny was quite bamboozled when she made it big in the WWE, as she could now interact with some of the wrestlers she saw as a fan a few years back and when she met her idol Shawn Michaels, she got really close to him. The two bonded with each other very well and started to have a relationship without letting many people know about it, as she was known as the "Kliq chick" during the time because of Michaels' association with that backstage stable at the time as she and Michaels did some real wild things during the time. The two were actually together for 9 months before they mutually parted with each other, as they seemed to have a lot of fun together if one's to believe Sunny's words on the relationship and were like the secret star couple in the WWE at the time.

5 Her Time In ECW Made For Some Wild Hook-Ups

via pinterest.com

Sunny might have been the top diva of the WWE for some years in the 90s, but she seemed to have a breakdown of sorts when the company started to push Sable to the top, as she had a personal disliking for Sable. Her tantrums and drug problem made her get fired by the WWE, as she reunited with Candido as the two had some stints in ECW and WCW in the next years. But Sunny would be in the height of drug abuse and promiscuity as she seemed to be in desperate wanting for drugs and could do literally anything for them. ECW veteran The Sandman stated that Sunny went down on Raven for drugs and later would do the same for Sabu as well, although the latter denied actually receiving it but did give her some drugs after she flashed for him. Sunny seemed to be in a horrible place during the time and did anything for drugs, as this was the darkest phase of her career and some revelation showcase the extent of her desperation.

4 She Also Allegedly Had An Affair With Bret Hart

via bleacherreport.com

It was no surprise in the WWE at the time that Sunny was very good friends with Bret Hart, as she apparently knew the "Hart Handshake" and hanged around with him a lot during the time, which brought up some rumors. It was during the time that the paranoid Shawn Michaels came up with the accusation that Bret Hart was having an affair with Sunny, as he also made it quite public when during a promo on an episode of Raw he told Hart that "Even Though Lately You've Had Some Sunny Days" which sparked more rumors. This also resulted in a backstage fight between the two afterwards, as Sunny would later deny the rumors that she was indeed having an affair with Bret and that they were only friends. But more evidence goes onto show that she was actually too close to Bret to not do anything at the time, as she made for quite the personal rivalry with her dubious character at the time.

3 She Mentioned Some Shocking Incidents In Her Book

via docdroid.net

Sunny and Shawn Michaels tried to keep their relationship a secret in the company, but they couldn't succeed at it as some people soon found out about it and it was also leaked soon after. Their wild relationship did have some crazy moments in it, as both of them were pretty screwed up on drugs and other stuff during the time and didn't really think before pulling off some crazy antics as Sunny also detailed on some of her incidents with Michaels during their hook-up. She wrote about how they fell in love after a segment of them making out on WWE TV, as Michaels would then seduce her later on as they would do it right in the locker room some-times later on. They apparently travelled together afterwards as well during their relationship, as they seemed to be the secretive power couple of WWE at the time and Sunny has openly stated of some of their wild adventures during the time which go onto showcase how big of a crazy, drug-infused couple they were at the time.

2 Her Infidelity In The WWE Put Some Heat On Her

via ringthedamnbell.wordpress.com

Sunny might have been a much-loved figure in WWE TV during her prime in the mid 90s, but her horrible attitude and problems made her quite the despised figure in the backstage area as she wasn't liked by many and barely had friends in the company. Many wrestlers have spoken in interviews about how nobody liked her or trusted her because of how much she lied in the backstage area, as Phineas Godwinn stated that "she did a lot of lying" and also said that "she was a very evil person". The other half of the Godwinns in Henry Godwinn also stated off an incident when WWE had to send her home from a tour in Germany because someone sh*t on her food. Her infidelity and hooking up with top stars made her quite the hated figure in the backstage, as she had a lot of people who disliked her because of how dirty she played the game in the back and was someone who no-one could trust.

1 She Was The Main Cause Of The Hart-Michaels Feud

via armpit-wrestling.com

Sunny had a very bad reputation in the backstage area as she was renowned for lying to people and trying to seduce the top, influential guys in the company as she had a relationship with the top star at the time in Shawn Michaels, while being good friends with his on-screen and off-screen enemy Bret Hart. So when things between the two were heated, Michaels' promo on Hart "having Sunny days" enraged the Hitman who had a fight with Michaels backstage. Sunny admitted to have been a reason for their hatred, as Shawn thought she was hooking up with Bret and she was a reason on why their hatred escalated and why they couldn't stand each other. Sunny also walked out of the WWE after the Montreal Screwjob and showed her alliance with Bret, as her back and forth between the two egoistic top stars of the company at the time escalated their jealousy and hatred for each other at the time and made for some really heated scenes between the two, as the vixen in Sunny was a reason on why Michaels and Hart absolutely despised each other in real life and couldn't stand the sight of one another.
