Authority figures in professional wrestling were a great way to get a wrestler over as either a heel or face. With a good guy authority figure, the heel could exert his dominance by attacking the General Manager or Commissioner if they didn’t give the heel what they wanted. With a bad guy at the helm, the faces had to fight and claw for their opportunities and titles which greatly improved their narrative as an underdog or tough guy while the heels would be capable of aligning themselves with the authority figure. Even the good guys would attack the heel authority figure if provoked enough, which explained why Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff were always taking a beating in the WWE. However, some characters don’t help to get anyone over and only serve to make the wrestlers look weak. That type of authority figure has been Stephanie McMahon (at times).

Though there have been moments every once and a while that demonstrated this throughout the years, the rise of The Authority has ultimately shown that Stephanie’s character doesn’t really benefit anyone but her. She talks down to the entire roster, she brings up all their failures, and then she puts the icing on the cake occasionally by slapping them.

Some people pretend it isn’t a problem claiming it hasn’t happened to that many people, but this list hopes to prove otherwise. So here are the 15 wrestlers/wrestling Figures that Stephanie McMahon has emasculated.

15 15. Charlotte

Charlotte's heel turn in 2015 basically revolved around her being the female version of Ric Flair and using some of his classic trademarks both in and out of the ring. The duo was inseparable following Charlotte securing the title, but that came to an end when she cut ties with The Nature Boy, claiming that he was never there for her and was only using her to keep himself relevant.

Some point after that, Stephanie McMahon confronted Charlotte calling her a “selfish, spoiled brat” as well as calling her a “waste of talent.” Ironically, when Charlotte called Stephanie out on her hypocrisy by calling someone else a brat, Stephanie just ignored it and claimed Charlotte didn’t know what she was talking about.

All that was missing was a slap with no retaliation and Stephanie would’ve buried Charlotte in less than a minute.

14 14. Ric Flair

Heading into Extreme Rules 2016, Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon oversaw a contract signing between Charlotte and Natalya for the Women’s Championship match. In this segment, Charlotte discovered the line in the contract which stated if Ric Flair were to come down to the ring during the match, Charlotte would be disqualified and stripped of the Women’s Championship.

Ric Flair then called her the worst business women of all-time and was prepared to take on Shane McMahon for trying to have him escorted out of the ring. Only to be interrupted by Stephanie, who exclaimed she had no respect for Ric Flair and proceeded to slap him... for no reason. Now this was when Stephanie was pretending to be a face, but even as a face the words being said didn’t justify her assaulting The Nature Boy.

13 13. Paul Heyman

Following the match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar at Extreme Rules 2014, Triple H had his arm broken by Lesnar after a contract dispute and was “fired.” Triple H wouldn’t be seen until the No Way Out PPV where he would announce his intentions to wrestle Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam.

This lead to a series of promos between Paul Heyman and Triple H where Heyman would deny him his match against The Beast Incarnate time and time again, until Raw 1,000 when Stephanie McMahon showed up. She lambasted Heyman calling him a failed business man in both WCW, WWE, and ECW, called him a professional parasite, and slapped him. He then agreed to the match in a fit of rage and claimed Stephanie learned from her father and teaches their children to always get what they want, which led to a parade of slaps by Stephanie…until Brock Lesnar came out.

12 12. Vickie Guerrero

Following the breakup of The Shield, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose took on The Authority in their own way. Ambrose went after Rollins while Reigns focused on guys like Kane and Randy Orton while simultaneously pursing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. In his pursuit of the title, Reigns requested to partake in the Ladder Match for Bryan’s vacated title and was denied by The Authority. This later lead to Vickie Guerrero accidentally getting Stephanie McMahon sick and while Triple H was tending to Stephanie, it was made possible for Reigns to enter the World Title match qualifier and win.

The following week, Stephanie McMahon addressed Vickie Guerrero claiming she was riding the coattails of Eddie Guerrero’s name; the irony is not lost here. She then demanded Vickie get on her knees and beg her for her job. This eventually led to Stephanie being humiliated by being thrown into whatever was in that tub and was one of two times where Stephanie McMahon looked weak while others looked strong.

11 11. Roman Reigns

Since The Shield began feuding with The Authority, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H had been messing with Reigns and it never really let up. One memorable incident was when Reigns called the McMahon family a disgrace and was slapped several times afterwards. Aside from one blocked slap and one accidental spear at WrestleMania, Stephanie was always made to look like the more dominant of the two. Following the end of his Wellness Policy suspension, Roman Reigns lost his WWE Championship match at Battleground and failed alongside Rollins to keep the title on the Raw brand.

The next night on Raw, Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley kicked off the show addressing the locker room about the changes coming to Monday Night Raw. However, before they revealed the major matches for the night, Stephanie addressed Reigns as a loser and the reason why Raw had no World Championship. This wouldn’t have been as bad if Reigns was allowed some retorts, but there were no microphones in sight so all he could do is stand there and absorb it all.

Considering what happened to other people on this list, Reigns got off a little easy.

10 10. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho may be one of the few WWE Superstars to almost always get away with insulting Stephanie McMahon. Up there on Jericho’s list of great rivalries will be Shawn Michaels, Edge, John Cena, and The Billionaire Princess herself. Jericho is a great Superstar on the mic and his insults against McMahon made for some classic dialogue that is still fondly remembered today. However, there was a time when even he was subjected to being emasculated and ran around by Stephanie McMahon.

Heading into WrestleMania X8, Jericho and McMahon joined forces to keep the Undisputed WWE Championship away from Triple H. This lead to a series of segments where Jericho would come and go at McMahon’s whim. He didn’t look too weak, but he looked weak enough to earn a spot on the list.

9 9. Dolph Ziggler

Heading into WrestleMania 32, Triple H attacked Roman Reigns and took him out of action for weeks as well as defeating Dean Ambrose to retain his WWE Championship at Roadblock. The next night on Raw, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came out declaring how much better they were than the rest of the roster and that other wrestlers should know their place, which prompted Dolph Ziggler to come out and respond.

Triple H offered Ziggler a chance to join The Authority, but Ziggler turned it down saying he would never side with Triple H or his egotistical, tyrannical, idiotic wife. With no intellectual retort to offer, Stephanie McMahon slapped him and made him an offer for a WrestleMania match of his choice outside of the World Title should he defeat Triple H that night.

The match occurred and ended with Ziggler losing without any interference; which only proved Stephanie McMahon was right.

8 8. Randy Orton

On the Raw episode that aired on January 19th, 2009, Randy Orton came to Stephanie McMahon’s office to talk about how Chris Jericho deserved to be fired for disrespecting her the week before. This was met by Stephanie McMahon cutting to the chase and telling Orton he wasn’t being fired so he can stop sucking up and get out of her office. Orton retaliated by saying he was just being nice and that Stephanie should’ve been worried because Vince McMahon was returning on that night and that she was the one who needed to worry. Stephanie said in a worrying voice said that it was none of Orton’s business, which led Orton to go on a verbal onslaught claiming Stephanie would be a nobody without the McMahon name. And with no intellectual retort, Stephanie resorted to her soon to be infamous slap.

Now aside from making mean comments, Orton did nothing wrong especially since Stephanie provoked him. Thankfully, this led to Orton tormenting Triple H and the McMahon family so he got his heat back and then some.

7 7. Big Show

In one of the mid-card storylines following the formation of The Authority, Big Show was placed in a storyline that was almost the exact same as the storyline between JBL and Shawn Michaels. Big Show was going broke because of some money issues (despite having an iron clad contract with a fat bonus) and Stephanie McMahon did her best to drive the point home that he had nothing and needed The Authority to make up for his failures.

This normally wouldn’t have been as big of a problem, but Big Show crying up a storm made it look both cheesy and pathetic on the part of the "World’s Largest Athlete." As the storyline progressed, McMahon would get as personal as possible going from Big Show’s life expectancy as a giant to personal problems in the bedroom. She also called him a failure at life and slapped him several times before firing him. And when the time came for Big Show to retaliate, it was only Triple H who got his comeuppance.

6 6. Seth Rollins

Throughout Rollins interactions with the rest of The Authority, there would be moments of tension between him and Stephanie McMahon; especially during his time as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but the latest one was the most interesting one. Following his betrayal by Triple H in the WWE Universal Championship match, Seth Rollins became obsessed with getting his revenge on both Triple H and Kevin Owens. After the match was booked between Owens and Rollins for Clash of Champions, Rollins would confront McMahon on her husband’s actions, to which McMahon said she had no idea of his plans.

However, this lead to her making a “guess” that it might be because Rollins failed to secure the WWE Championship at the Battleground PPV (despite her claiming it was Roman Reigns’ fault a month back) and that he didn’t get the job done against Finn Bálor at SummerSlam. She also went on to claim that Owens was the right man for the job to be the Universal Champion and that Rollins had been replaced.

A harsh thing to say to the guy who got the World Championship away from the uncontrollable beast Brock Lesnar and brought The Authority back to power.

5 5. Mick Foley

We all saw this coming as soon as Stephanie McMahon announced that Mick Foley would be the Raw General Manager. The heel-face dynamic between the two authority figures all but confirmed that she was going to talk down to him at some point, but just because you see it coming doesn’t mean you enjoy it.

Following the return of Triple H and his interference on Kevin Owens’s behalf, Mick Foley asked McMahon if she had anything to do with or had knowledge of Triple H’s actions to which she claimed she didn't. However, during the title match at Clash of Champions, Stephanie sent out a referee that just so happened to help get Owens the victory. The next night on Raw when Foley confronted her about it, Stephanie claimed it was Foley’s fault as General Manager for not doing his job, subtly threatened to fire him, and finished with the “Don’t ever forget who you work for!" quote.

4 4. Teddy Long

During the buildup to the 2016 Brand Split, several former General Managers made guest appearances with the likes of Vickie Guerrero and John Laurinaitus. Teddy Long made a return heading into the Money in the Bank PPV and made a joke that fell flat involving the Money in the Bank Briefcase contenders, but what happened the rest of the night was a lot worse.

Stephanie McMahon interrupted his return, insulted him, then wouldn’t even let his music be played. To make matters worse, she mocked his iconic dance and demanded the music be played for her. This was followed by her stealing Long’s idea and dismissing him like he was the help. Lastly, his time on Raw ended with her calling him an old, incompetent man who can only dance.

Since Long isn’t a mainstay on TV, it wasn’t as bad as most of her other verbal assaults. However, because she had become famous for them by this point, it was still pretty bad.

3 3. The Miz

Yet another casualty of The Authority stable being formed in 2013 was The Miz.

Following Big Show being forced to align himself with The Authority due to his storyline of being broke, The Miz took it upon himself to question why The World’s Largest Athlete would allow himself to become a pawn of two ego maniacs in Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. This would lead to Stephanie McMahon interrupting MizTV and completely burying The Miz as a performer.

She said that The Miz was no longer a major player; citing his fall from the main event scene in 2012. She said that he peaked too early, that his value was only as a utility player for the company and that he had been given enough chances. She ended it by calling The Miz a failure and having Big Show knock him out.

This lead to nothing for The Miz as he wouldn’t become relevant again until 2014 when he won the Intercontinental Championship.

2 2. John Cena

In the buildup to the United States Championship match between John Cena and Rusev at WrestleMania 31, Rusev defeated Cena at Fastlane with help from Lana and Cena wanted a rematch at the Showcase of the Immortals. However, because Rusev retained, Cena had to ask Rusev for a rematch and he said no. Rather than dwelling on it, Cena told the fans that he would be entering the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal instead…until Stephanie McMahon came out.

She claimed that Cena couldn’t just announce his entry into the match, despite half the roster doing so. Cena then began to shout about how important WrestleMania was to him, only to be cut off by McMahon telling him how the WWE has always thrived in spite of their biggest stars leaving and followed it up by saying “You’re not special. You’re not unique,” to the 15-time World Champion and the man who carried the company longer than any top star they’ve had.

1 1. Daniel Bryan

There’s no way we could leave him off of this list, especially since he’s pretty much where this all started in the latest era.

After Triple H blindsided Daniel Bryan at SummerSlam 2013 and practically gave Randy Orton the WWE Championship, this would begin a long battle between Triple H & Stephanie McMahon and Bryan. The night after SummerSlam, John Cena left the WWE for a few months, while Bryan came to the ring to address the attack by Triple H. This led to Stephanie McMahon coming out and addressing Bryan.

In this speech, she claimed that Bryan was valuable, but only to a certain extent as she discussed his weight, height, and his overall look. She said not everyone is WWE Championship material and that Bryan was a “B+ Player,” and had him carted out of the ring promptly. There would be many moments following this, but this was the first exchange and the most memorable one.
