Randy Macho Man Savage and Miss Elizabeth were the first couple of professional wrestling for many years. They were married from 1984 until their divorce in 1992. They had a very rocky pro wrestling relationship throughout their careers in both WWE and WCW. During Savage’s early 1980s WWE heel run, he was notorious for his mistreatment of his valet and real life wife, the lovely Miss Elizabeth. Savage often used her as a human shield while defending his Intercontinental Championship. Savage also humiliated her during back stage interviews and other show segments. On an episode of Saturday Night’s Main Event, Savage embarrassed Elizabeth by throwing her into a pool to teach her how to swim. Elizabeth would eventually get storyline revenge on Savage multiple times in the following years. Elizabeth refused to be in Savage’s corner for his WWE title defense against Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania V. During the mid to late 1990s, Elizabeth turned on the Macho Man a few times in WCW. She betrayed Savage twice by joining the Four Horsemen and then nWo Hollywood.

Goldust aka Dustin Rhodes was married to Terri Runnels from 1993 until their divorce in 1999. Their pro wrestling relationship has been volatile at times in both WCW and WWE. Their differences have also come under several different characters over the years. A few years before they were married, they engaged in a heated feud in the early 1990s in WCW. Terri as Alexandra York was the leader of a faction called the York Foundation. York used a computer to give her wrestlers a competitive edge over the competition. York recruited veterans such as Mike Rotunda, Terry Taylor, Ricky Morton, and Tommy Rich in to her stable with the promise of giving them that technological advantage. “The Natural” Dustin Rhodes feuded with various members of the York Foundation after he spurned an offer to join the group. Rhodes jumped to WWE in 1995 as his most famous character, Goldust. Terri Runnels would soon follow but this time as her husband’s valet, Marlena. This alliance would soon fall apart. On WWE Raw in 1997, Rhodes publically humiliated Terri by dumping her during an interview segment with Jim Ross. It was a surreal moment given the fact that the couple was on their way to a real life divorce. Terri would then manage Val Venis in a feud with Rhodes and his new valet, Luna Vachon.

13. Rusev & Lana

Rusev and Lana were recently married and the couple, for the most part, has been a united front in WWE. However, their brief on screen breakup ended up being extremely controversial both in and out of the ring. After about a year of being one of the hottest heel couples in recent WWE history, Rusev and Lana were inexplicably broken up. Rusev was paired with Summer Rae in a feud with Lana and her new “boyfriend” Dolph Ziggler. Most fans were puzzled by the break up and odd pairings. To add more bizarreness to the storyline, Summer Rae began dressing like Lana and Lana started dressing like Lita Ford. It was painfully obvious that these new couples had zero on screen chemistry. It also became apparent that Rusev and Lana weren’t fans of the storyline break up, either. The real life couple decided to flush kayfabe down the toilet when they publically announced their engagement in the middle of the storyline thus killing it. Rusev and Lana paid the price by spending some time in the WWE doghouse. However, the cream always rises to the top and they are once again one of the top heel couples in all of professional wrestling.

Tyson Kidd and Natalya have been married since 2013. They were a part of the successful Hart Dynasty along with David Hart Smith. Following the break up of the Hart Dynasty in 2010, Kidd and Natalya have had their on screen ups and downs. In 2015, Natalya reunited with Kidd for his brief but successful singles run before he started teaming with Cesaro. However, during this time, Kidd was using Natalya as a human shield to gain advantages in his matches. It was also at this time that their marital problems were the focus of the Total Divas reality television show. Kidd was definitely the heel and deserved a little retribution from his wife. Those fans looking for some justice can find it during a six-person tag team match on WWE Superstars in 2011. Kidd teamed with William Regal and Melina to take on Natalya, The Great Khali, and Mark Henry. Natalya’s team got the win and the post match festivities included her slapping the Sharpshooter on Kidd.

The couple has also been on opposite sides of the ring. Naomi along with her Funkadactyl teammate Cameron and Tons of Funk ( Brodus Clay & Tensai) had a brief rivalry with the Usos and the Bella Twins. Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson were married in 2003 and divorced in 2008. Their in ring relationship began in WCW. Wilson turned on David Flair to join Billy Kidman and the Filthy Animals faction in 1999. Kidman eventually got a taste of the same medicine when Wilson turned on him at the Great American Bash 2000. Kidman had a chance to retire the legendary Hulk Hogan per match stipulation. The traitorous Wilson ruined Kidman’s chance to end Hulkamania. Wilson and Kidman continued on opposite sides in a mix tag team feud. Wilson sided with Shane Douglas while Kidman recruited Madusa as his partner. The teams met in a wild scaffold match a Fall Brawl 2000. The match saw Kidman thrown off the scaffold by Douglas after receiving a sickening low blow from Wilson. Apparently the couples’ in ring differences were settled when WWE purchased WCW. They joined forces to defeat John Cena and Dawn Marie at Rebellion 2002. All’s well that ends well, at least in the ring, for Kidman and Wilson.

Kimberly finally returned to DDP’s side during his epic feud with Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth who were both nWo members. It was during this feud that it was revealed on the air that they were married. Despite their brief falling out years earlier, DDP and Kimberly were one of the tightest on screen couples in all of professional wrestling. Leading up to WrestleMania, Vince threatened to divorce Linda causing her to end up “catatonic”. Mr. McMahon went on to have a very public affair with Trish Stratus while poor Linda remained in an unresponsive stupor.
