On August 21, Summerslam will be airing live on the WWE Network for the 29th consecutive time. Of course, you can join in on the festivities by purchasing the WWE Network for only $9.99....Wait, why did this suddenly turn into a commercial for the WWE?

What the hell am I doing? I don't work for the WWE! I work for TheSportster, and the point of this article is to talk about the matches that we do and don't want to see at this year's SummerSlam event.

Can you believe that the first SummerSlam was held way back in 1988? What's even crazier is that the first SummerSlam main event was a tag-team matchup between The Mega Powers and The Mega Bucks.

With the upcoming brand split in July, we're likely going to get a ton of fresh feuds that we haven't seen before. SummerSlam will be a great way for WWE to officially bring us into the new era. The roster is a lot healthier now, as many wrestlers have returned from the injury epidemic that plagued WrestleMania. With WrestleMania being the disappointing event it was, SummerSlam could be a redeeming factor of 2016.

The first SummerSlam event was such a big hit that it has become a WWE tradition. In fact, SummerSlam has almost become a holiday for wrestling fans. With that being said, Vince McMahon is sometimes way off with the matches that he books for his pay per view events.

However, it's important to remember that Vince is 70 years old, and he can sometimes be out of touch with the current product. So, let's all hope that Vince or Triple H reads this article of The Top 8 Matches We Want To See and 8 Matches We Don’t Want To See at SummerSlam.

16 8. Do: Charlotte vs. Paige

via pinterest.com

I don't know about you, but i'm sick of watching Charlotte face the same competitors over and over. She's had rivalries with Paige, Natalya, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch. She's also defeated the Bella Twins in the past as well.

Paige has been severely underused so far in 2016 and it'd be great to see her get another shot at relevance. She's only 23, how could WWE have already run out of ideas for her? I know its been done before, but what other options are there? At least Paige and Charlotte would have a good match. Also, it's not impossible to imagine that Paige could defeat Charlotte for the title.

15 8. Don't: Charlotte vs. Natayla

via wwe.com
via wwe.com

Charlotte Flair is a great Women's Champion. She does a great job in the ring and on the mic. With that being said, some of the storylines that she has been a part of recently are extremely played out. She has also been forced to wrestle the same opponents for far too long. Natalya, in particular, has wrestled Charlotte way too much.

The segment they did with Bret Hart and Ric Flair at Payback was absolutely dreadful. I honestly cannot watch another match between Charlotte and Natalya.

SummerSlam is a huge show, and each match on the card should build to an epic climax. A matchup between Charlotte and Natalya would just be a giant buzzkill. However, it would be the perfect time to go on a beer run. On second thought, maybe this match should be on the card.

14 7. Do: Bray Wyatt vs. Finn Balor

via inquisitr.com
via inquisitr.com

Finn Balor is one of the most popular Superstars in NXT. He is extremely talented, and he has a unique gimmick. Balor's personality is great because he can either be humble or demonic.

A matchup between Bray Wyatt and Finn Balor would be memorable for a number of reasons. First off, the promos leading up to their showdown at Summerslam would be incredible. Wyatt is extremely charismatic, and so is Balor. It would be a battle of supernatural forces.

Bray Wyatt V.S. Finn Balor is a matchup that the WWE Universe has been clamoring for years. Let's hope this one gets made, because it would be the perfect time to bring Finn Balor up to the main roster.

13 7. Don't: Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

via wwe.com
via wwe.com

The likelihood of this match occurring is very slim, but it doesn't deny the fact that we definitely don't want to see it. Brock Lesnar is an absolute destroyer. And even though wrestling is fixed, I have a feeling that Brock enjoys tossing around his opponents for real.

The Undertaker is far too old to be getting manhandled by a gorilla like Brock Lesnar. With that being said, have we truly seen the end of the Brock/Taker feud? The Deadman from Death Valley always gets his revenge, but I don't think he will ever defeat Brock clean. Either way, no one wants to see The Undertaker get destroyed again.

12 6. Do: Rusev vs. Alberto Del Rio

via ultraimg.com
via ultraimg.com

Rusev is the current U.S. Champion, and let's hope it stays that way. With that being said, Alberto Del Rio once proudly held the U.S. title as well.

A match between Del Rio and Rusev for the U.S. Championship makes sense for a number of different reasons. First of all, the U.S. Championship means something to Del Rio and Rusev. They are both foreigners, and owning the U.S. Championship proves that they are the best in the nation.

Also, it's important to remember that Rusev and Alberto Del Rio are former stable mates. They were in The League of Nations with Wade Barrett and Sheamus just a short while ago.

Del Rio and Rusev are former friends, but the U.S. Championship could prove to be the thing that splits them apart for good. This would be a great match for Summerslam, and I really hope it gets booked. Del Rio would have to turn face for this to work, and honestly, why not turn him face? He's lost all his steam as a heel.

11 6. Don't: The Golden Truth vs. Fandango and Tyler Breeze

via youtube.com
via youtube.com

Goldust and R-Truth have become quite the tag-team. With that being said, they have had some trouble with Tyler Breeze and Fandango in recent months.

While the two teams can be entertaining at times, I definitely don't want to see this match at Summerslam. In fact, this match doesn't belong anywhere near the main card.

Goldust and R-Truth are veterans, but I'd much rather see them wrestle each other than take on Fandango and Tyler Breeze. However, I do have a feeling that we will see the Golden Truth take on Fabreze during the pre-show, and that's fine with me.

10 5. Do: Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn

via wwe.com
via wwe.com

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a long and storied relationship. They started out in the indies together, and they worked their way up to the WWE. Many years ago, they were actually good friends. Today, Owens and Zayn hate each other with a passion, on screen that is.

A showdown between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will probably happen and here's why. I have a feeling that Owens and Zayn will screw each other out of winning the Money in The Bank Contract. Their rivalry will only intensify, and SummerSlam is the perfect place to end the longstanding feud once and for all. This is the kind of rivalry that can go on for years and it deserves a stage like SummerSlam.

9 5. Don't: Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin

via wwe.com
via wwe.com

Dolph Ziggler is the most underutilized WWE Superstar in recent years. He has the look, the talent, and the charisma. However, he is buried week after week for some strange reason.

Ziggler's latest rival is a newcomer by the name of Baron Corbin. And of course, Corbin destroys Ziggler every time they wrestle. With that being said, Ziggler finally earned a bit of respect from Corbin by low-blowing him on Monday Night Raw. Sadly, that's about the only offense Dolph has landed against him. I honestly hate this entire feud, and I wish it would just go away.

Unfortunately, something tells me that Dolph Zigger will be taking on Baron Corbin at SummerSlam. I truly hope I'm wrong, because I can't watch these two wrestle anymore. The matches are nearly identical each night out, but more importantly, Dolph Ziggler gets destroyed. I just don't get it. Let's all hope that Vince McMahon doesn't book this match for SummerSlam.

8 4. Do: Randy Orton vs. Dean Ambrose

via allwrestlingsuperstars.com
via allwrestlingsuperstars.com

Dean Ambrose is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the WWE. His matches are always entertaining, and his promo skills are always improving. Unfortunately, Ambrose is never utilized to his full potential.

The "Lunatic Fringe" will most likely find himself in a matchup of little importance at this year's SummerSlam. However, it doesn't have to be that way.

A matchup between the "Viper" and the "Lunatic Fringe" is an easy sell. Randy Orton will be returning soon, and Ambrose is the perfect opponent to welcome him back to the ring.

Seeing as Orton and Ambrose are both modern day hardcore legends, why not make their meeting a street fight? All this match needs is an interesting storyline and we're good to go.

7 4. Don't: Sheamus vs. Orton

via wwe.com
via wwe.com

We are all hoping that Randy Orton makes his return soon. However, I would hate to see his talent get wasted like it has been in recent years. The Viper should be in the main event whenever possible.

Unfortunately, Randy Orton is a gatekeeper of sorts these days. I wouldn't be surprised if Vince McMahon booked a SummerSlam match between Sheamus and Orton, AGAIN. We have seen them compete against each other many times before, and the meetings were mediocre at best. I wouldn't put it past WWE to think about booking this match again.

Randy Orton should be wrestling in high profile matches. Sheamus on the other hand should be working the opening match. If Vince McMahon still has all his faculties, he will keep Orton and Sheamus far away from each other.

6 3. Do: Triple H vs. Shane McMahon

We haven't seen Triple H since his lackluster match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 32. The King of Kings has been busy working behind the scenes, but I have a feeling that he will be back to performing in the ring sooner rather than later.

In Hunter's absence, Shane McMahon and Stephanie have been co-directing Monday Night Raw and Smackdown. Stephanie also appears to have turned "face." However, I think we are all expecting Stephanie to stab Shane in the back at some point.

A battle between Shane McMahon and Triple H for total control of the WWE may take place at SummerSlam. The matchup would be a great attraction, and it should definitely get made.

5 3. Don't: Bray Wyatt vs. The Undertaker

via wwe.com
via wwe.com

A lot of WWE fans want to see this match again for some reason, but I don't quite understand why. The Undertaker defeated Bray Wyatt clean at Wrestlemania XXXl. Taker than disappeared for a while like he always does after Wrestlemania.

If The Undertaker was younger, I would definitely push to see this matchup at SummerSlam. Unfortunately, the Phenom is well past his prime, and he is no longer capable of performing like he used to in his younger days.

Judging from rumors that have crept up recently, it seems 'Taker has told Vince he is done, but Vince is still trying to convince Undertaker to work until WrestleMania 33. If Vince somehow convinces 'Taker to come back for SummerSlam it has to be for something big, not a rematch where no one can really come out looking strong.

4 2. Do: John Cena vs. Roman Reigns

via dailyddt.com
via dailyddt.com

A matchup between John Cena and Roman Reigns for the WWE Championship would make for a great SummerSlam main event. Cena has been the face of the company for nearly a decade, and Reigns has been labeled as "The Guy." Unfortunately, this would be a difficult match to make, seeing as both Cena and Reigns are "good guys."

Nonetheless, John Cena has a tremendous amount of skill in the ring, and I believe that he could give Roman Reigns one of the best matches of his career. It would also be very interesting to see who wins the match.

Roman Reigns is damn near indestructible in the ring. In fact, he kicks out of everything, and it's cringe-worthy at times. With that being said, I think John Cena is probably the only Superstar who will beat Roman Reigns clean in the center of the ring.

3 2. Don't: John Cena vs. Seth Rollins

via fansided.com
via fansided.com

It's hard to deny that Seth Rollins and John Cena are amazing in the ring together. However, we have already seen these two compete at last year's SummerSlam. While they absolutely stole the show, I'd much rather see them face off against other opponents.

Rollins has his sights on Roman Reigns right now, and John Cena is busy with AJ Styles. Let's keep Cena and Rollins away from each other for a little while longer. Besides, they are both coming back from serious injuries, and I'm guessing they will be victorious against their future opponents. I'd hate to see John Cena and Seth Rollins kill each other's momentum.

2 1. Do: Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles

via pinterest.com / wrestlingnews.com
via pinterest.com / wrestlingnews.com

Seth Rollins and AJ Styles are two of the most gifted athletes in the WWE today. A Summerslam matchup between Styles and Rollins would be absolutely epic. Can you imagine the maneuvers that they would perform against each other? Both Superstars are high-flying athletes who can out-wrestle nearly everyone else on the roster.

This match would only be more amazing if Seth Rollins becomes the WWE Champion before Summerslam. This is undoubtedly the number 1 match that I want to see this summer, and it should be booked as the main event. I have a feeling that Rollins and Styles would produce a classic match that cannot be topped.

1 1. Don't: Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles

via wwe.com
via wwe.com

Roman Reigns and AJ Styles have already tangled on two pay-per-views, and each time, I walked away pissed. I mean, how can someone kick out of three Styles Clashes? Oh, and don't forget that one of them was on a freaking steel chair!

Not only do I not want to see Reigns vs. Styles at SummerSlam, but I never want to see them wrestle each other ever again! AJ Styles will never defeat Roman Reigns clean, and that's something that angers me beyond belief.

I know I might sound a little bitter, but come on! AJ Styles carried Reigns in those matches, fans clearly favored him, yet he was made the heel? There is no need for this match at SummerSlam. Sure, it would probably be decent, but AJ would probably just lose again.
