WWE is known for wanting to tell great stories as their main goal for their television and PPV product. No other wrestling company has been remotely as big for remotely as long in the wrestling business. This leads to many scenarios unfolding that show the ups, down and everything in between with booking a wrestling show.

There have been more than a few occasions where WWE had an interesting angle, but they ruined it with the worst possible ending. Wrestling fans will usually see their biggest pet peeve play out when the finish to a story is so bad that it ruins everything. The following storylines in WWE had an ending so bad that it ruined everything with the worst possible finish.

Triple H Attacks Randy Orton

The story of Randy Orton winning the World Championship and getting kicked out of Evolution featured two huge things no one saw coming. Orton winning the title over Chris Benoit in his first PPV singles title shot was a moment many fans wanted but didn’t expect.

Triple H’s jealousy of another member in his group winning the belt led to him having the others brutally attack him. The story was fascinating to start, but it turned into a disaster as it went on. Orton lost the World Championship to Triple H in their first PPV match and lost every big singles rematch.

9 Who Tried To Run Over Roman Reigns?

Roman Reigns & The Usos v Shane McMahon, Elias, Daniel Bryan & Rowan SmackDown May 14, 2019 Cropped

WWE tried to create a storyline that could continue building interest each week before a reveal when someone was trying to end Roman Reigns’ career and maybe even his life. The biggest segment featured an attempted hit-and-run that Roman survived.

Other backstage segments saw Reigns in harm’s way while trying to find his attacker. Daniel Bryan was heel at the time, and it seemed like the best reveal would be him. WWE instead picked Bryan’s enforcer Rowan to get a weird push that lacked credibility as the pay off.

8 John Cena's Nightclub Stabbing

Jesus Vs John Cena

WWE was already planning to make John Cena the next major superstar during his run as United States Champion in 2004. A feud with Carlito was solid, but WWE tried to extend it by writing a storyline where someone stabbed Cena in a night club.

Cena took a few weeks off television to sell the injury while also filming The Marine movie. The big reveal was awful with an unknown wrestler Jesus stabbing Cena as Carlito’s bodyguard. Cena returned and squashed Jesus to end his run before it even started.

7 Ahmed Johnson Joining Nation Of Domination

Nation Of Domination Ahmed Johnson

There was an interesting swerve when Ahmed Johnson chose to join the Nation of Domination faction after a long feud against them. Johnson was always pushed as an important face that the Nation had many battles with.

A shocking heel turn came for Johnson when he attacked The Undertaker to join the group. There could have been more potential there, but Ahmed suffered an injury to change plans. The Nation attacked Johnson and kicked him out after a few weeks to make it all pointless.

6 Vince McMahon's Long Lost Child

Hornswoggle Vince McMahon's son wwe

WWE tried to make a massive storyline out of Vince McMahon searching for someone on the WWE roster he never knew he was the biological parent of. The original reveal was meant to be Mr. Kennedy getting a massive push to feud with Triple H, but a wellness policy violation forced a suspension to remove him.

There were months of segments with Vince getting closer to finding out who the mystery person was. WWE went with a curveball replacement plan for Kennedy by picking Hornswoggle. They did have some solid emotional moments with Finlay showing his love for Hornswoggle later, but the McMahon storyline ending with awful humor ruined it all.

5 Summer Of Punk

Triple H Pedigrees CM Punk

Many modern wrestling fans view the Summer of Punk as the best WWE storyline they’ve witnessed. Punk made wrestling feel unpredictable in a way that few other wrestlers in the industry have been able to at that highest level.

The epic promos and great matches with John Cena are how we chose to remember this angle. However, the ending was the worst-case scenario in multiple ways. Punk lost the WWE Championship due to Kevin Nash getting involved and lost a singles match to Triple H to end that story in absurd fashion.

4 Bray Wyatt & Alexa Bliss' Odd Couple

Alexa Bliss WrestleMania 37

There was a polarizing reaction to Alexa Bliss’ drastic character change becoming tied to Bray Wyatt’s Fiend persona. WWE had them trying to creep out opposing wrestlers with the wacky segments and sometimes captivating moment.

Unfortunately, this turned into the death nail in Wyatt’s WWE stint when entering a feud with Randy Orton. The Fiend returned after getting set on fire only to lose to Orton due to Bliss’ creepy visual distracting him at WrestleMania 37 and made his character look like a fool.

3 WWE's New World Order Takeover

NWO WWE

The New World Order is remembered for being a great WCW act, but they had a promising start in WWE. Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall and Kevin Nash all returned to WWE with the nWo trio playing heels looking to ruin the company.

Steve Austin and The Rock were the main rivals of the nWo during their short time in the new promotion. Hogan was removed from the group after a face turn, and everything fell apart shortly after. The group ended when Nash got injured after Hogan turned face and Hall was fired as a near worst-case scenario.

2 The Higher Power

Vince McMahon is revealed as the Higher Power

Attitude Era fans will remember how hyped the Higher Power storyline was when expecting a great reveal. The Undertaker having such a new darker character and now feuding with Steve Austin already added two iconic performers into a new chapter of a program.

However, WWE decided to ruin any hope with the terrible ending of Vince McMahon being Undertaker’s higher power and giving him the evil orders. McMahon vs Austin was a great feud that already ran its course, and this just ruined Undertaker’s momentum.

1 John Cena Being Forced To Join Nexus

The Nexus and John Cena

Nexus felt like the freshest WWE act in years after Wade Barrett led the group of young talents to attempt a hostile takeover. Most top WWE names and many non-wrestling employees were targeted by Nexus to truly make it feel realistic.

John Cena entering a feud with Nexus was meant to make them even more legit, but it killed them. The big singles match of Barrett beating Cena made Cena a member of the group if he wanted to keep his job. Barrett eventually fired Cena for not following his orders and keeping his morals, but Cena returned and won the feud to bury the entire group.
