8 WWE Couples Who Should've Stayed Together (And 7 Who Should've Broken Up A Long Time Ago)

The WWE Universe has become emotionally invested in a number of WWE relationships over the past few years, which means that their breakups tend to affect their fans as well. While WWE has taken to promoting many relationships between members of their roster on Total Divas now, there have been a few over the years that haven't been promoted but have still managed to stay together.

Some of the strangest couples in WWE history have managed to overcome the odds and remain together despite their obvious differences, while many couples that the WWE Universe thought were perfect together have gone their separate ways after what seems to have been creative differences. It seems that the dating game isn't black and white and the WWE Universe shouldn't judge their favourite wrestlers based on the character they play on WWE TV, but more on their track record when it comes to personal relationships.

The following list looks at just eight wrestling couples of the last few years who should have remained together and worked out their differences and seven that have defied the odds and still remain together despite many of the WWE Universe betting that their relationship wouldn't last.

15 Should've Stayed Together: Enzo Amore And Liv Morgan

via popculture.com

Enzo Amore and Liv Morgan recently went their separate ways after reports that Amore was obsessed with exotic dance clubs and rumours he could have cheated on the NXT superstar were made public. Enzo and Liv met when they were both working together at Hooters. Enzo then helped Liv to secure a tryout with WWE which has led to her becoming a potentially big talent as part of NXT's Women's Division. The couple seemed to have each other's best interests at heart, but these rumours have come between them somehow. It's sad because they looked like the perfect couple and one that the WWE Universe thought could have been able to work through their problems. Enzo seems to be a completely different person without Liv by his side, while Liv seems to have moved on with former WWE United Kingdom Champion Tyler Bate.

14 Should Have Split Up: Lana And Rusev

via youtube.com

Lana and Rusev are a couple that WWE created before Vince McMahon tried his best to split them up. The unlikely duo was aligned together in NXT back in 2013 when Lana was made the manager of Rusev before he was called up to the main roster and went on an undefeated streak for the better part of a year until he crossed paths with John Cena.

Lana and Rusev were a couple that many people didn't understand and Vince even tried to break them up by putting Lana in a storyline with Dolph Ziggler on WWE TV, but this backfired. Both of the couple's weddings were featured on the last season of Total Divas and it seems that considering they are one of the most unlikely couples that the company have ever created, they have managed to prove a lot of doubts wrong over the past few years.

13 Should've Stayed Together: Lita And CM Punk

via pinterest.com

CM Punk may have been one of the greatest wrestlers to have stepped through the ropes in WWE, but when it comes to his dating history he could be one of the worst. Punk was notorious for getting around with the women who were employed by WWE at the time when he was there before he met Lita.

Lita and CM Punk dated on two different occasions whilst they were both part of the company, with Lita seemingly being one of the only women who has ever been able to force Punk to think about settling down. Their relationship sadly didn't end on the best of terms with rumours that he cheated on Lita with AJ Lee floating around, but that doesn't change the fact that these two were seemingly a perfect couple.

12 Should Have Split Up: Dean Ambrose And Renee Young

via cagesideseats.com

Renee Young and Dean Ambrose came clean about their relationship back in 2013 when Ambrose was still riding off the fact that he was once a much-loved member of The Shield. It therefore comes as no surprise that the duo got a lot of backlash from the fans following this revelation.

Renee Young admitted that at one point she was receiving death threats from some fans who didn't feel that she was good enough to be dating someone like Ambrose. Despite this, the couple has been together for more than four years and announced earlier this year that they had secretly married in their backyard at 2 am. It seems that this was the perfect way for the couple to tie the knot and prove all of the doubters wrong once and for all.

11 Should've Stayed Together: Bobby Lashley And Kristal Marshall

via youtube.com

Bobby Lashley and Krystal Marshall met back when they were both part of WWE's roster. The couple went on to date for a number of years and were even able to be part of the same storyline in TNA, one that was cut short because Lashley wanted to pursue a career in MMA.

Lashley and Kristal have two children together, a son called Miles and a daughter called Naomi, while Lashley also has a daughter from a previous relationship. Kristal herself announced back in 2010 that the couple had gone their separate ways despite her being pregnant with their second child. It was hoped that the children would bring the couple back together, but while Lashley seems like a great father, the couple hasn't been able to reignite their initial spark over the past seven years.

10 Should Have Split Up: CM Punk And AJ Lee

via youtube.com

CM Punk has already been mentioned once on this list and given his dating history, the WWE Universe didn't think his relationship with AJ Lee was destined to go in any other direction than the countless others. It is incredible that Punk and AJ have seemingly been able to build a better life for themselves outside of WWE over the past few years and have now been happily married for almost four years. Punk's problem could have been the hectic nature of life on the road or it could well have been the fact that he was waiting to meet someone like AJ before he settled down, either way, AJ and Punk are another couple that no one thought would last but somehow have managed to.

9 Should've Stayed Together: Melina And John Morrison

via youtube.com

Melina and John Morrison were together for more than a decade before they decided to go their separate ways back in 2015. During their time together Morrison managed to forgive Melina for her cheating with Batista and managed to put up with her constant problems backstage that was the main reason she was released from WWE.

Things came to a head two years ago when Melina decided to share a personal prescription of Morrison's online to show that he was forced to obtain pills for erectile dysfunction. After years of putting up with her problems, this was the final straw for Morrison who has since moved on to a relationship with fellow Lucha Underground star Taya Valkyrie. It seems that Melina was the author of her own downfall here and managed to split up one of wrestling's most controversial couples.

8 Should Have Split Up: Edge And Beth Phoenix

via cagesideseats.com

Edge and Beth Phoenix didn't reveal their relationship to the public until Edge was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2012 and it's easy to see why. Edge doesn't have a great history when it comes to his personal life after two divorces and a public scandal with Lita and Matt Hardy.

Beth also had quite a messy break up with CM Punk a few years before, so it seems that both of these former stars were not expected to be able to have a functional relationship based on their past. Incredibly, five years later they are not both WWE Hall of Famers, have two daughters and have recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary, so it is safe to say that in Edge's case a leopard can change his spots.

7 Should've Stayed Together: Emma And Zack Ryder

via pinterest.com

When Emma and Zack Ryder revealed that they were in a relationship a few years ago, the WWE Universe decided that they would back them all the way. After the way both stars had been treated at the hands of WWE's creative team, it seemed as though they both needed some good news in their lives.

Emma and Zack were fine until the brand split back in 2016 when Emma was sent to Raw and Ryder was sent to SmackDown. The couple then never officially announced that they had split, though Ryder was seen uploading pictures of himself with his new girlfriend, current Impact Wrestling star Chelsea Green. Emma has since remained single but was recently released from WWE as the bad luck continues for the Australian star.

6 Should Have Split Up: John Cena And Nikki Bella

via people.com

There have been rumours over the past five years that Nikki Bella and John Cena have only ended up together because their relationship benefits them greatly when it comes to their time in the spotlight. The latest season of Total Bellas showed that Cena can be quite cruel to Nikki at times, like when he told her that he didn't want to be the one left to look after her if anything happened.

Nikki then asked if she was the one that John wanted to look after him before revealing that she wasn't and he wasn't going to tell her who was because it was personal information. This obviously upset Nikki and it isn't the only time Cena has done something like this. Their relationship looks great from an outsider's perspective, but at the same time there seems to be a whole manner of issues between them, which is why it's a shock that they have actually decided to get married.

5 Should've Stayed Together: Seth Rollins And Zahra Schreiber

via youtube.com

Seth Rollins has been part of a number of scandals throughout his time in WWE, but none more so than the hacking scandal back in 2015 when pictures of both Zahra Schreiber and Rollins were shared online for the world to see. Rollins ended his engagement following the leak after it was revealed that he had been having an affair with Scheiber who was working on the NXT brand at the time.WWE later went on to release Zahra fans found some less than flattering Instagram posts and the couple went their separate ways less than a year later. If Zahra still worked for WWE, it is likely that the couple would have remained together, as Seth seemed quite happy and Zahra even began helping him at his training school in Iowa. It just seems that the travelling schedule became a problem for them.

4 Should Have Split Up: Brock Lesnar And Sable

via therichest.com

When it was revealed that Brock Lesnar and Sable were dating back in 2004 the WWE Universe all collectively sighed. Sable had already been married twice and her relationship with Brock Lesnar just seemed slightly odd.

The couple announced their engagement later that year before they decided to call it off in early 2005. The couple then decided to give it a go one more time and then married in 2006. Incredibly, the couple has remained together over the past decade despite the fact that many fans were betting that this was a relationship that wouldn't be able to make it past a few months. Brock is notorious for not liking other people, so Sable must be one special woman. It seems that it really was third time lucky for Sable since her third marriage is the one that has worked out for her.

3 Should've Stayed Together: Wade Barrett And Alicia Fox

via fansshare.com

When it comes to cute couples in WWE, look no further than Alicia Fox and Wade Barrett. The couple were dating for a number of years before their relationship became public knowledge and Wade then decided that he no longer saw a future with Alicia.

It was a strange breakup and one that obviously haunted Alicia for a while after it happened, which is why it was one of the storylines for Total Divas back in 2015. Their break up was Wade's idea and Alicia still had the same feelings for him, which was heartbreaking for the WWE Universe to hear and seemingly just made Barrett even more of a villain on WWE TV after he refused to change his mind about their split.

2 Should Have Split Up: The Undertaker And Michelle McCool

via youtube.com

The Undertaker was known to be married to a woman called Sara throughout the Attitude Era in WWE where his wife was even able to make a number of cameo appearances. Undertaker had his wife's name tattooed on his throat, so when it was revealed that he was in the midst of a divorce, it came as a huge shock.

Reports suggested that Undertaker and Michelle McCool had been dating long before The Deadman's divorce was finalized and the age gap was another added issue when it came to fans accepting the two former Champions as a unit. The couple had their first child together back in 2012 and have been happily married now for more than seven years, which just goes to show, sometimes it's our differences that bring us together rather than our similarities.

1 Should've Stayed Together: Dolph Ziggler And Nikki Bella

via heavy.com

It is heartbreaking to see that Dolph Ziggler obviously still pines for Nikki Bella more than five years after the couple went their separate ways. Dolph even suggested on Total Divas a few years ago that he would give Nikki the marriage and the children that she wanted since John Cena had already told her that he wouldn't.

Ziggler is currently single and he has been able to continue working with Nikki both on-screen and at WWE live events over the past few years, which shows the kind of man that he is. It is quite obvious that if Nikki and Cena ever decided to call it quits then Dolph would definitely be waiting for Nikki with open arms. It is hard not to think that Nikki made a mistake leaving Dolph, but without knowing the full story it's unfair to make assumptions.
