WWE currently boasts a loaded roster which is possibly the biggest it has ever been with two stacked main roster brands as well as another huge NXT brand as well as the talents that are simply in developmental yet to be on NXT and that's all without mentioning 205 Live and WWE's ever-growing UK division. The company has so much talent and that means there are so many characters to get invested in and real people to learn about, the struggles, the accomplishments their journeys, wrestling fans love to know it all.

That's why this list will look to provide you with 30 little-known facts about today's WWE roster, covering everything you didn't know that you needed to know about your favorite superstars, from The Undertaker's phobia to how Charlotte Flair honored her father and everything in between.

30 Aiden English Is In The Guerrero Family

via pinterest.com

He's the Shakespeare of song and a key member of Rusev Day, but Aiden English is also a member of the Guerrero Family, one of the most well-respected families in wrestling that has given us countless incredible wrestlers. That's right, the very same family that Eddie and Chavo are from also boasts the former NXT Tag Team Champion and current tag teammate of Rusev, after English married Shaul Guerrero after meeting in FCW. During her time in FCW, Guerrero portrayed the character of Raquel Diaz, and the pair clearly hit it off during their time in developmental.

They have been together ever since, eventually getting engaged in 2014 and married in 2016.

This is something that has been mentioned on commentary on the odd occasion but is mainly made clear when English posts tributes to Eddie on social media during special moments or anniversaries. While he might not have the in-ring skills of a Guerrero, it is pretty cool to know that someone from the family is still working for the company and continuing the incredible legacy that the family has already set out.

29 Sheamus' Bodyguard Work

via wwe.com/wikipedia.org

Independent wrestling isn't known for providing people with huge sums of money, which is why many wrestlers work a separate job on the side, in order to pay the bills and allow them to wrestle to try and grow their name. This was especially true 10-15 years ago when independent wrestling was nowhere near as big as it is today, leading many to work a second job in order to get by living and one of the popular jobs for wrestlers to take up is being a bodyguard.

Because many wrestlers are, quite obviously, huge men in real life, working as a bodyguard is a pretty easy gig, they're intimidating enough and the fact they wrestle for a living certainly helps when it comes to dealing with any drunk people. Most wrestlers will simply be a bouncer at their local nightclub on a weekend, and that is how things began for Sheamus, who worked as a bouncer during his independent career in order to make extra cash on the side. It was through this that the Celtic Warrior landed himself a very cool gig as the bodyguard for Bono, the lead singer of U2. Bono happened to use the nightclub Sheamus was a bouncer for often and eventually, he was assigned to ensure nobody caused him any trouble or spiked his drinks, providing Sheamus with extra cash and a story to tell.

28 Wrestling Taught Kevin Owens English

via wwe.com

Many wrestling fans who don't know much about Kevin Owens outside of the ring might not know that English is actually not his first language as he grew up in Quebec, Canada, where the native language is actually French. KO grew up learning and speaking French and therefore didn't know how to speak English, which is surprising to learn when you consider just how good Owens is on the microphone, being one of the better promo men in the company right now. Well, all of that is down to wrestling funnily enough. Owens wanted to speak English and he decided to do that via WWE when watching the product as a child he would mimic everything that was said on commentary, with JR and Jerry Lawler being the people who taught him English.

Sadly, this means that young KO's idea of what puppies were might have been different from what they actually are, thanks to the King, but it is a pretty cool story to learn just how helpful wrestling was to him away from just providing him a living. It is interesting to see how much of a learning tool WWE's shows can actually be, and they clearly worked out in his favor as Owens is now fluent in the language and more than capable of out talking any English born speaker.

27 Xavier Woods' Impressive Brains

via instagram.com

Most people have the presumption that athletes are not very smart people and that includes professional wrestlers. After all, their job is literally getting beaten up, putting their body in constant pain and ensuring they are very rarely at home to see their friends and family... it's a fair assumption. For the most part, it would actually be true that the WWE roster isn't exactly known for its brains; look at the number of "flat-earthers" who are professional wrestlers as an example. Yes, we are talking about AJ Styles there.

However, one man who stands out from the pack in that situation is none other than The New Day's Xavier Woods, who brings WWE's average IQ level up a notch or two as he actually has a Ph.D. in educational psychology. This is an incredibly impressive feat and the fact he is actually a Doctor is pretty cool. What makes it even more impressive is the fact Woods was studying to achieve all of this while being on the road with WWE, working as a wrestler and gaining an education at the same time. That's right, it wasn't something he did prior to wrestling, but something he did alongside it, showing real dedication to both roles

26 Rhyno's Political Career

via twitter.com

Many people now know about Kane's political career, but the Big Red Machine is not the only wrestler to have dabbled in the world of politics. In fact, quite a few former and current wrestlers have shown an interest in politics. Cody Rhodes might be teasing a run right now on Being The Elite, but one man who has had experience in politics is none other than Rhyno. The former ECW superstar ran as a Republican in Michigan under his real name of Terrance Gerin, where he had the full backing and support of the McMahon family.

Unfortunately for Rhyno, he wasn't successful in his attempts to gain a seat and his time in politics has since come to an end.

He is focusing back on Goring people for a living, which is probably what he does best. The ECW star is probably one of the most unlikely people that fans would expect to have gone into politics, considering that he was involved in many hardcore moments throughout his career, yet clearly, he hasn't taken too many hits to the head as his brains were still active enough for this. Whether or not he passed on any hints or tips to Kane is unknown, but it seems as if the Monster is going to be slightly more successful than Rhyno was, so at least one wrestler will continue in politics from now on.

25 The Undertaker Wrestled With Second Degree Burns

via youtube.com

So, you know those huge fireballs that explode when The Undertaker makes his grand entrance to the ring, they are mightily impressive to look at and really help make 'Taker's entrance one of the absolute best in the business. However, during the Elimination Chamber match in 2010, The Undertaker probably wished they didn't exist as he got caught up in one of the explosions during his walk to the ring as whoever was in control of them set it off at the wrong time (you can be sure they got fired). That's right, the Deadman became the burnt man as he legitimately got caught on fire, causing him serious second-degree burns, with the leather from his huge ring jacket being the only thing that stopped him from having even more damage.

Somehow, throughout all of this, The Undertaker made it to the ring still in character, entering his pod, just looking (rightfully) very angry. So if you wondered why Undertaker was pacing back and forth inside his pod that year, it was because of the insane pain he must have been going through. Undertaker, ever the pro, stuck with everything that was planned too, wrestling for nearly 30 minutes despite his injuries, and even letting himself get placed into the Walls of Jericho, despite Jericho himself suggesting they change the spot to save Undertaker the pain. It just goes to show, what might take place inside the ropes is not "real" violence, but these athletes are legitimately tough, with this being a prime example of that.

24 Tye Dillinger's First TV Appearance

via wwe.com

While he has only really risen to the top of WWE in the past couple of years (only to fall back into obscurity), Tye Dillinger has actually worked for the company for an incredibly long time, patiently paying his dues and waiting his time. Dillinger has been employed by WWE since 2006, which is quite mind-boggling when you think about how long it has taken him to get a real shot at things, but that means he has been around for a while, and given that WWE loves to use developmental wrestlers in random roles on TV, you know that the Perfect 10 has had a perfect old WWE cameo.

His moment came when he was supposed to be a backstage agent named Stan, but he met his match when he came across Shawn Michaels during the 2006 Cyber Sunday PPV, where Dillinger officially made his TV debut. It wasn't a moment he would have talked about for a long time though, as all he had to do was eat a Sweet Chin Music from an irate Shawn Michaels who was going on a rampage about something Eric Bischoff had told Triple H, providing a young Dillinger with a moment of exposure. It might have been nothing at the time, but now, considering he has made it to the main roster of WWE after so many years of waiting, it is pretty cool to look back and see this.

23 Charlotte Flair Honors Her Father

via denverpost.com

The bond that Charlotte Flair has with her two-time WWE Hall Of Famer father, Ric Flair, is very special. It is clear for anyone to see that they are both exceptionally close and she is doing a tremendous job following in his footsteps. Charlotte, just like her father, enjoys the showbiz elements of the sport and knows how to put on an entrance. She has carried on the Nature Boy's tradition of wearing fantastic robes to the ring and even copies Ric with her simple ring boots.

While she does wear lavish robes, Charlotte certainly puts a spin on them to make sure they stand out and look different from anything that Ric ever did.

However, there was one instance when she made sure that it was very similar to her dad's in a bid to pay tribute and honour him. During her WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania 32, Charlotte wore a robe that had a striking resemblance to the fantastic piece that Ric wore for his final ever WWE match at WrestleMania 24. The dark blue and white robe is one that many wrestling fans will never forget as it really was a masterpiece and Charlotte took inspiration from it. However, she didn't just take inspiration; she literally took pieces out of it, because that WrestleMania 32 robe was made with pieces of Ric's original robe from his retirement match.

22 Mickie James' Music Career

via youtube.com

Earlier we spoke about how many professional wrestlers are forced to work different jobs in order to make things work in terms of finance, with a second job being used to pay for a wrestler to work in the sport to become a bigger name. Well, sometimes things work the other way with a well-established wrestler being able to use the fact that they are financially stable or have great connections to go on to achieve big dreams away from the ring.

That's right, some wrestlers simply don't have enough on their plates from the ridiculous amount of work that WWE provides them and they actually go and seek further work for themselves, simply trying to live out a dream and continue to branch out and entertain. Chris Jericho is a great example of this as someone who has gone on to do lots away from wrestling from his podcast work to success with his band, Fozzy, but a lesser known example of this, believe it or not, is actually Mickie James. See, Jericho is not the only wrestler who works as a musician on the side, as Mickie James has managed to do that as well, becoming an award-winning country singer.

21 Samoa Joe Is A Transformer

via pinterest.com

As we just mentioned, many WWE superstars enjoy putting more work on their plates and another example of that is the Samoan Submission Specialist, and former NXT Champion, Samoa Joe, who has picked up another role on the side. Unlike Mickie James or Chris Jericho, Samoa Joe is not a singer, which might not take people by a surprise, but instead, he has a different role, where he currently works as a voice actor in the animated Transformers series.

Joe is currently voicing the character Predaking in the Machinima series Transformers: Power of the Primes. He is doing a brilliant job as well, which you can tell if you ever watch an episode of the show. Joe has always been known for his brilliant promo work and therefore it should not be a major surprise to learn that he is excellent doing voice acting work. In addition to this current side gig of his, he will soon be joined by John Cena in the Transformers world, as he is set to appear in the solo Bumblebee spin-off movie. While Cena is sure to make a whole lot more money for his appearance in the series, Joe will undoubtedly use this experience to perhaps pursue more voice roles in the future after wrestling.

20 Daniel Bryan's Mentor Is Not Shawn Michaels

via pinterest.com

Sometimes, WWE enjoys creating a story that fits within its own narrative that they can tell over and over, as it works with what they want to discuss, which is what the company did with regards to Daniel Bryan's relationship with Shawn Michaels. WWE constantly puts over the fact that HBK was the man who trained Daniel Bryan to be a professional wrestler, which does happen to be true, to a degree, but the WWE Hall Of Famer is not someone whom Bryan himself would classify as his mentor.

Michaels did train with Bryan for a brief period, there is no denying that it is a fact. But during the time he was training Bryan, HBK was suffering from his back injury and wasn't always very hands-on. Still, that's not the reason that Bryan doesn't consider him a mentor. Bryan doesn't see him as a mentor because he actually considers someone else in that role, whom he sees as his closest friend in the business, and that would be the current NXT general manager, William Regal. It was Regal himself who put a word in to WWE in order for the company to hire him, then re-hire him after he was temporarily fired, changing his life forever, all while giving him advice and training along the side.

19 Zack Ryder's Toy Obsession

via wwe.com

This one might not be much of an unknown secret at this point, as Zack Ryder enjoys sharing all his obsessions with all things toy-related on social media, with his house being a shrine to old wrestling action figures and Funko Pops. Ryder has become totally obsessed with the collection of toys that he has, with two bedrooms in his house being totally dedicated to his impressive collection, with his posts leading him to the point where even his own friend, Cody Rhodes, has unfollowed him on social media. This shows just how often he boasts about all his little figurines and collectibles to his followers on social media.

He has more toys than any child out there could ever imagine owning and goes out of his way to spend major money on different toys which then sit on shelves in his house, only to collect dust and have pictures of them posted all over his Instagram. But, everyone has a hobby and for Ryder, that is what it is, with the WWE Superstar constantly pushing and promoting it on YouTube as well as asking fans for help in finding rare and unique items. At least he can share his passion with his fans!

18 Finn Balor Trained Becky Lynch

via dailymotion.com

Ireland isn't a particularly big place, but the odds of WWE hiring two Irish wrestlers who knew each other very well were still pretty slim. Yet that's exactly what happened with Finn Balor and Becky Lynch, who actually go way back. The pair has wrestled all over the world together from a humble beginning in Ireland to making it big in Japan and eventually finding their feet in WWE, they have been together on the crazy journey and Lynch actually owes it all to Balor.

The Irish Lasskicker often praises Balor for being the person who trained her in wrestling, so the Demon King is actually responsible for bringing the world one of the very best in-ring performers today. That is a pretty impressive feat considering that Balor was young at the time as well, meaning he hadn't gotten tons of experience himself. Balor has also had a hand in training another WWE superstar. This wrestler is a member of the company's UK division in Jordan Devlin, another incredibly talented athlete who is making a big name for himself in the UK and may one day become a big star in WWE. WWE definitely owes Finn Balor a debt of gratitude for training part of their future.

17 Carmella Was A Laker Girl

via twitter.com

Mella is money alright, that is something Carmella has certainly proved during her WWE career so far, especially lately since cashing in her briefcase and becoming Women's Champion where she has excelled in the role. Carmella is cocky and a great talker on the microphone and certainly is improving in the ring, but it is clear that 'Mella has been money from the get-go as she has always managed to have great success within sports. The former NXT superstar was making a splash as a cheerleader and dancer prior to her WWE career where she was a Los Angeles Laker Girl, making a name for herself and dazzling fans with her good looks and impressive moves.

She also worked as a cheerleader for her hometown New England Patriots prior to joining the Lakers' dance team.

While she has certainly become a much bigger star since then, it is clear she is a driven and determined person who is always going to make things happen for herself, and the fact she has climbed that ladder of success is great to see. Maybe this is where she gets her moonwalking moves from, all of which are incredibly impressive as she makes her grand entrance to the ring each week.

16 Triple H Is Teetotal

Photo: Pinterest.com

Triple H is one of the top stars to have ever worked for WWE. His wrestling skills and incredible, he has always been in great shape and is now set to seemingly become the owner of WWE one day down the line. You would think that The Game might have enjoyed a moment or two during his rise to the top, perhaps having a wild night out with the rest of the talent or celebrating a great match with a cold one, but that is not the case.

Triple H is actually teetotal and doesn't drink, something that has always been the case since the start of his wrestling career, not something that he has decided after a major incident or a problem. There is certainly nothing wrong with that; in fact, it actually deserves major respect. Unlike CM Punk, whose straight-edge lifestyle is a key element of his in-ring gimmick, Triple H just decided to never really talk about it or make it into a storyline. It is a surprising feat though when you consider the fact he was around during the Attitude Era when the partying lifestyle was so common, especially being a member of The Kliq, who was notorious for their partying lifestyles.

15 Mark Henry Spotted Braun Strowman First

via pinterest.com

Mark Henry is a WWE Hall Of Famer and has spent the last 20 years on the road, but towards the end of his WWE career, the World's Strongest Man started taking up other responsibilities with the company. That included scouting for new talent and helping to train wrestlers and give them tips, which is what he did with Neville, helping him embrace his inner heel to become the King of the Cruiserweights, leading to arguably his best ever run. Neville would end up having his own issues with his booking, but no one can deny he was a great talent and Mark Henry contributed to his successful run.

But Henry has had a bigger impact than that, literally. Henry was actually the man who picked up Braun Strowman, who is currently one of WWE's top stars. Henry had men Braun when competing at numerous strongman events and he quickly saw the potential in him. Henry had reported Strowman to WWE and told them they needed to get in touch and clearly, the higher-ups of WWE listened to that and brought him in, with the rest, as they say, being history. Strowman is now set to follow in Henry's footsteps, making the move from strongman to professional wrestling, with the potential to do even more in the future.

14 Sonya Deville Is Out

via twitter.com

The wrestling world had a huge reaction when former WWE Superstar, Darren Young decided to come out about his orientation, and it was a big deal as the first wrestler to openly do that in the company, and he received huge support for his decision. However, he is not the only openly out wrestler in the world and he is now no longer the only WWE star in history to be openly out while working for the company, as former Absolution member and Tough Enough alumni Sonya Deville is also openly out about her orientation.

That's bad news for any of you males who are interested in the former MMA star, because she is currently dating Seth Rollins' ex-girlfriend of all people, Zahra Schreiber; small world! Thankfully, WWE hasn't seen this as a chance to make a cheap gimmick out of her, keeping Deville as a butt-kicking MMA fighter, which is working brilliantly for her. She isn't someone who openly flaunts the fact either, but she has thrown out subtle hints during her time with WWE, especially at WrestleMania 34 in the women's battle royal, when Deville had her ring gear designed to make a nod to her community, wearing the rainbow colours on her ring gear.

13 John Cena's Poor SummerSlam Record

via stillrealtous.com

John Cena is often seen as the number one superstar in WWE, the poster boy of the last 10-15 years and someone who is pushed and promoted with many fans often claiming that he has buried everybody he has ever faced. Well, that might not entirely be true. There is no doubt that John Cena has defeated countless wrestlers, perhaps at times when he shouldn't have, yet that doesn't mean that Cena is always picking up victories without also experiencing defeat.

In fact, at one of WWE's very biggest events of the year, SummerSlam, Cena has a terrible win/loss record, where he has lost on countless occasions against a variety of opponents from CM Punk and Edge to Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles. Since his 2004 debut, Cena has actually only picked up five victories with nine defeats to his name, which also included a six-year loss record from 2011 to 2016. While many fans are quick to judge Cena for his ability to never put people over, in reality, it couldn't be further from the truth, especially on one of the biggest shows of the year. He is clearly a man who does what is best for the company, though he has looked out for himself in the past.

12 Roman Reigns Slammy Record

via cagesideseats.com

The Slammy Awards are certainly no longer as important as they once were in WWE, but that doesn't mean that people don't care about them at all. It is always one of the more fun nights of the WWE calendar and picking up the Superstar Of The Year award is certainly a sign that you have had a good year. Of course, that award is usually rigged and picked by WWE itself, but it is still a clear sign you are a top superstar and that WWE has belief in you to make it big and that is a record that Reigns picked up.

The Big Dog won the award four years ago, in 2014, when he was just breaking out as a singles act and was actually the youngest Superstar in history to win the accolade, which proves just how good he was at the time. Or, perhaps it proves just how much Vince took a liking to the generally disliked Superstar so early in his career. It's fair to say his popularity has certainly changed since then, because that night on Raw he didn't receive the rounds  of boos that he does today when he enters an arena, but success can often do that to a career.

11 The Miz Earns His Own Wrestler Of The Year

via tjrwrestling.com

Anytime you are given a "Wrestler of the Year" award from anyone, it should be seen as a major deal as it is a top accomplishment and a clear sign that you have performed to the best of your abilities, and that was certainly something that The Miz did in 2017. While he didn't get any top WWE prizes as far as that accolade – after all, he was a heel for the year and that is something that they are rarely awarded.

He was, in fact, named the Wrestler Of The Year from the prestigious magazine, Rolling Stone.

The magazine, which clearly took a more objective approach in looking at things rather than a popularity contest, saw the fantastic work that Miz had put in and rewarded him for his efforts, which he certainly appreciated. It isn't often that someone like The Miz would get that awarded as he isn't a flashy wrestler and is a top heel, meaning he doesn't have the fanbase that other people in the company have, but that just goes to show just how good he was in his work for 2017, and so far in 2018 he is doing a good job at trying to retain that title.
