Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O'Reilly joined NXT not long ago and since doing so, have run roughshod over pretty much anyone and anything that's gotten in their path, but their factions name, Undisputed Era, confused fans. They quickly labeled themselves The Undisputed Era and from that point on, they've been the focal point of NXT programming with Cole setting his sights on Drew McIntyre for the NXT Championship.
In a recent interview with WWE.com, the group decided to shed a little light on their tenure so far in NXT and exactly why they call themselves The Undisputed Era.
The leader of the faction, Adam Cole, explained it quite simply as a group of guys who won't be denied and who plan to create their own era in the wrestling industry. He said:
"When you say the word 'undisputed,'what do you think of? You think of something that is untouchable, undeniable. Myself, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O'Reilly are all of those things. We've proven before we got here that we are one in a million, and we'll do it again here in NXT. Also, people talk about the different eras in wrestling—The Golden Era, The Attitude Era, The Reality Era. This is our era; it's our time to show the world who runs this sport."
Clearly, Cole believes that there is nothing that will stop these three from making, not just an impact, but a statement as it pertains to whose house NXT will be from here on in. His running buddies Fish and O'Reilly didn't exactly shy away from backing up Cole's claims. When asked, O'Reilly said:
"The Undisputed ERA isn't just a cute name that's meant to sell a bunch of T-shirts. It's our mantra. It's our way of life. Our success is a direct result of the effort and dominance that we put forth inside the squared circle. We are undisputed. This is our era."
This kind of attitude rings of the most successful factions that came before them. From the NWO to the Bullet Club and DX, every one of those factions changed the face of wrestling and went on to become iconic names in the industry. Like those before them, Cole, Fish, and O'Reilly will stop at nothing to be the best and take what they believe is coming to them.
Bobby Fish said it best, "Being the best at what one does naturally creates enemies... The insecurity of others is not our concern." Expect big things from this group and after that sort of explanation, it makes complete sense as to why they chose such a specific and emphatic name.
