The buy rate for last weekend's AEW PPV Full Gear has been revealed and turns out almost as many people bought the show as bought All Out.

It might not feel like it, but it has still been less than a year since AEW came into existence, at least publically. That press conference, the signings of Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley, its first PPV. All of them took place in 2019. That's why many fans continue to accuse AEW of still living in its honeymoon period.

That eventually, interest in the promotion will drop off and normal service will be resumed. We'd have to imagine WWE is hoping that happens eventually. Fighting what is AEW's biggest battle, and the one that matters if it wants longevity. It is doing well so far on that front. Its numbers appear to be holding steady, even with each passing week and PPV.

Full Gear's recently revealed buy rate is the latest example of that. Roughly 100,000 people watched the PPV which is about the same number as tuned in for All Out back in August. What AEW's bosses can take from that is that they are doing the right thing via weekly TV show, Dynamite. Full Gear was the first PPV since Dynamite started airing and at the very least, equaling All Out's numbers means they haven't turned fans off of the product by showing it to them every week.

As for a deeper breakdown, according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Full Gear was streamed by about the same number of people as Double Or Nothing and All Out. Cable numbers aren't in yet but are also expected to be roughly the same. As for what's next, AEW has a break since its next PPV won't be until 2020.

The assumption is that AEW will be sticking to four big shows a year. If they're spaced out evenly, the fourth one will take place in February 2020. Then it'll be back to DoN in May should it decide to keep the same names for its PPVs. Full Gear should be considered another success for AEW, both in buy rate and in content as it also showcased some terrific matches.
