If there's one aspect of AEW that fans have criticized, it's the way they've handled the women's division. The ladies are often booked on the low end of the totem pole. On a two-hour weekly show, the females tend to get only a couple of minutes to showcase their skills.

That being said, the talent is certainly there. This is a women's division that boasts ladies who have held championship gold in various other companies spanning the globe. A few of them were champions in Japan, some held singles titles, and some held tag gold but they all were successful.

10 Shanna

Shanna was one of the women who didn't sign with the company when it first started up. Instead, she showed up as an enhancement talent who lost to the ladies who were signed. However, she impressed enough that she earned herself a deal.

Since then, Shanna has been a solid addition to both Dynamite and Dark. At 38 years of age, she's a well-traveled veteran with over a decade of experience. Her most notable title win before coming to AEW was the High Speed Championship in Stardom. It was only a 28-day reign but other stars to hold that gold include Io Shirai and Riho.

9 Kris Statlander

Kris Statlander

Like Shanna, Kris Statlander wasn't one of the girls to be advertised as a top star when AEW first got going. She showed off her talents but what really helped her stand out was that she has a unique personality and gimmick. Being billed as a literal alien makes sure you're unlike anyone else.

Currently, Statlander still performs in AAW and she has held their Women's Championship. That being said, her biggest wins came in WSU. She held their Spirit Title in 2019 and was also their top champion for about two months.

8 Leva Bates

Leva Bates

In AEW, Leva Bates is the bottom of the barrel. Her librarian gimmick is grating to some fans and she holds just one victory. On top of that, she manages Peter Avalon and Brandon Cutler, who are both winless.

That hasn't been the case in other companies. Leva Bates has actually found a lot of success. In WSU, she held the Spirit Championship. In bigger promotions like SHIMMER and Shine, she reigned as Tag Team Champion alongside Delilah Doom and NXT's Mia Yim, respectively.

7 Britt Baker

Britt Baker

If there's one woman on the AEW roster who is given the opportunity to shine, it's Britt Baker. She always has a microphone in her face, puts on good matches, and is allowed plenty of room for character growth. She feels like the true star and face of the entire division.

Despite her upper card status in AEW, Baker hasn't had a ton of championship success in other companies. Still, she has held a few titles. There was the IWC Women's Title, Monster Factory Girls Championship, and the WrestleCircus Big Top Tag Team Titles with her real life boyfriend Adam Cole.

6 Bea Priestley

Bea Priestley

You might have forgotten that Bea Priestley is even part of the AEW roster. That's because she currently lives in Japan and doesn't spend too much time in the United States where AEW takes place on a weekly basis.

Although she's only 24-years-old, Priestley reached the top of other promotions. She was the World of Sport Women's Champion and a two-time WCPW/Defiant Women's Champion. Her true success came in Stardom. There, she held the Goddess of Stardom Titles and their top prize, the World of Stardom Championship.

5 Big Swole

Big Swole

She may not have a ton of success in AEW just yet but Big Swole is easily one of their best prospects. She's also one of their most impressive athletes and might be the most powerful woman on a roster that also features Nyla Rose. That's saying something.

Swole has held the Phoenix of Rise Champion but that wasn't her most notable victory. That came in Shine when she was one-half of the Tag Team Champions there alongside Aja Perera. They lost the titles at the start of 2020.

4 Penelope Ford

Penelope Ford in AEW

If one woman had to be pegged as the fastest rising female star in AEW, it would be Penelope Ford. She started out as just a pretty face in the eyes of many but began racking up victories in 2020. That's when she earned a shot at the AEW Women's Title.

Although Ford didn't capture the title, she has remained one of the company's most consistently strong female performers. Before coming to AEW, the talented star held tag gold in both WSU and QOC with Maria Manic.

3 Riho

Riho

The first AEW Women's Champion. Riho immediately captured the hearts of AEW fans everywhere with her fighting spirit, adorable personality, and quality matches. She hasn't been around as much since losing the title but she was a big part of the early days of the company.

Riho is the youngest woman in all of AEW. She's 23, yet she's still held plenty of gold elsewhere. That includes multiple titles in DDT (including one reign with Kenny Omega), several in Ice Ribbon, and a High Speed Title reign in Stardom.

2 Hikaru Shida

Hikaru Shida

If you take all of AEW's tenure into account, you'll probably point to Hikaru Shida as the women's MVP. She won their Women's Title and has been their standout performer since she first showed her face. She could use a few more storylines to really make her feel like a top star overall, though.

Hikaru Shida is a veteran who has won a multitude of championships over the years. There were reigns in Ice Ribbon and Pro Wrestling Wave. However, her biggest arguably came as a member of Sendai Girls where she held their tag titles with Syuri.

1 Allie

Allie has had a mixed run in AEW. First, she came in as a plucky babyface. That ended quickly and she transformed into the Bunny, the heel manager of The Butcher and The Blade. Then, she reverted to her old persona and began dating QT Marshall before teaming with Brandi Rhodes as The Nightmare Sisters.

Allie might be the most accomplished woman on the roster in terms of pre-AEW championship success. As Cherry Bomb, she won the WSU Championship. She was also one half of both the SHIMMER and Shine Tag Team Champions alongside Kimber Lee as one-half of the Kimber Bombs. As Allie, she won the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Championship twice.
