Since buying out World Championship Wrestling (WCW), World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has had a monopoly over the professional wrestling industry. However, with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) now coming into the picture, it looks things are going to change, hopefully for the better.

With the imminent launch of their weekly episodic television show, the pro-wrestling fraternity has seen numerous reports of WWE wrestlers’ requesting their release in a bid to join up with AEW. However, once AEW gets up and running, we’ll see at least a few of their wrestlers jumping ship to WWE.

In this article, we list five AEW wrestlers whom we think will end up signing for WWE sometime in the future. We also list five AEW wrestlers who’ll most likely go on to become AEW legends.

10 Sign for WWE: Britt Baker

One of the first few signings, Britt Baker is certain to help AEW grow while also elevating her brand. Given she’s been with AEW since their All In days and their shallow women’s roster, she’s bound to receive a lot of television time alongside Nyla Rose, Allie and Bea Priestly, among others.

She’s been able to maintain a good work-life balance thanks to her boyfriend, Adam Cole, performing in Florida on most days. When he moves to the main roster, however, she may find her personal time with him limited. Perhaps she’ll then consider signing for WWE. Given her boyfriend’s stature in WWE, it won’t be hard for her to secure a WWE contract.

9 Become an AEW legend: Jungle Boy

The success of any pro-wrestling company lies in creating homegrown talents. Cody and The Young Bucks have also maintained they’ll look to create stars like World Championship Wrestling (WCW) created Goldberg instead of signing former WWE names and other washed-up legends.

While most names they’ve signed have already made a name for themselves on the indie circuit, Jungle Boy, actor late Luke Perry’s son, is a relative unknown. Making a star out of him will only establish AEW as a big company. The wrestler himself, a 21-year-old up-and-comer, will fancy his chances of making it big in AEW as he’ll be lost in the sea of established names in WWE.

8 Sign for WWE: The Lucha Brothers

Lucha Brothers

The Lucha Brothers, after becoming top-tier wrestlers in Mexico, moved to the United States in 2014. Since then, they’ve performed for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Major League Wrestling (MLW), Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling, among other promotions. Pentagon Jr. is a former LU Champion and Impact World Champion while his younger brother Fenix has held the former title once.

While they’ll essentially boost the company’s stocks while also boosting their own in the US, not many expect them to stick around for a long time. They’ll eventually want to move to WWE, where they can lock horns with Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Roman Reigns and AJ Styles.

7 Become an AEW legend: Adam Page

Adam Page has gone under the radar in recent times with Cody, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega taking the center-stage. However, the common consensus is that the company will book him like an underdog until the time comes when they can do an underdog storyline, a la Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston winning the WWE Championship.

Titles or no titles, he’ll likely remain an AEW regular for as long as he chooses to work with the company. Going by his closeness with the other founding members of the company, he’ll want to work with AEW for a long time.

6 Sign for WWE: Christopher Daniels

Although AEW is still in its infancy, it seems as though they’ve already begun working on grooming talents themselves if their signing Jerry Lynn is any indication. However, it’ll be sometime before they can afford to have as many trainers as NXT has. Accordingly, they’ll find themselves offloading the older wrestlers once they deem them unfit to go in the ring.

WWE has lately signed numerous former TNA legends like AJ Styles, Samoa Joe, Sonjay Dott, Jeremy Borash, Jeff Jarrett, and Abyss. It’s only a matter of time before they try adding another in Christopher Daniels to their payroll. The 49-year-old will probably look to retire as a trainer at the Performance Center.

5 Become an AEW legend: Chuck Taylor

Few comedy wrestlers on the independent circuit are as popular as Chuck Taylor is. In fact, one can even go as far as claiming he’s more interesting than most comedy wrestlers in WWE. He can go in the ring and has wrestled for most top promotions. He’s also one half of one of the most over tag teams, Best Friends, alongside Trent Baretta.

The former PWG World Champion, however, hasn’t had a proper run in the WWE; he even recently tweeted a picture of the rejection letter he received from WWE. There’s little chance he’ll succeed in WWE currently given their loaded roster. In AEW, however, he can carve out a name for himself and potentially become a legend there.

4 Sign for WWE: Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho, indeed, has worked for every major wrestling promotion, including Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW), NJPW and WCW besides WWE. Now in the twilight of his pro-wrestling career, he’s now looking to leave a lasting impression in the industry by helping Cody, The Young Bucks and Tony Khan hit the ground running.

Soccer and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry once said: “You always go back to where you belong.” Accordingly, Y2J will find himself returning to the company with which he became a global superstar. Chances are that he won’t be treated like a big deal if he comes back to WWE, but it’s a certainty that Y2J and Vince McMahon will end up doing business once again.

3 Become an AEW legend: Joey Janela

WWE reduced Jon Moxley to a Dean Ambrose and downgraded ECW to WWECW. A company of WWE’s stature has no need to have their employees receiving unprotected chair shots or using barbed wires in this day and age. However, there are many wrestlers who’ve made a name for themselves in that niche. Until recently, they didn’t have many places to go except for promotions like Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW).

Now that a TV-14 AEW has become a reality, there’s a place up-and-coming hardcore or extreme wrestlers could aspire to work for. They’ll essentially be following in the footsteps of 29-year-old 13-year veteran Joey Janela. The three-time CZE Wired TV Champion could go on to become an AEW legend if he sticks around long enough.

2 Sign for WWE: Kenny Omega

Until the formation of AEW, many expected Kenny Omega to sign for WWE upon the expiry of his NJPW contract. The wrestler himself has said he’d consider working for WWE at one point despite turning down their recent offer. Even now, he hasn’t signed an exclusive deal with AEW and will also be performing for NJPW.

Once he’s helped his friends establish AEW as a big company, one expects him to move to WWE at least on a short deal to lock horns with the likes of John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and former Bullet Club leaders Finn Balor and AJ Styles.

1 Become an AEW legend: PAC

While most wrestlers on the AEW roster have performed for WWE at least as enhancement talents, PAC counts as the first defection from WWE to AEW. Neville was the man creative forgot after his WWE Championship match with Seth Rollins until his move to 205 Live. The English wrestler made the fans care about the brand after its months of mediocrity with the help of Austin Aries and Enzo Amore and hoped WWE would take notice and hand him a main-roster push that never came.

Now that he’s working for WWE’s only potential competitor, he may want to give his absolute best—not like he doesn’t otherwise. Should things go well despite the recent controversy, he’ll become one of the first inductees for the AEW Hall of Fame.
