AEW is likely to face a lawsuit from WWE following the first part of their Bash At The Beach event.

While WWE no longer owns the trademark for the name, they're likely wishing they'd kept it and, according to Dave Meltzer, they may have a problem with AEW using it.

The wrestling insider noted that The Elite spoke about possibly getting sued over their use of the name following Dynamite's airing on Wednesday night.

“By the way at the end of the show, long after everything’s over they came out and they talked about Bash At The Beach and basically said — so I don’t know what’s happened — but they basically said I think we’re getting sued for calling the show Bash At The Beach," Meltzer said via Wrestling Observer Radio.

"So I’m sure there’s a reason they said that. I don’t know if there were some threats or what, but they still called the show Bash At The Beach and next week is going to be Bash On The Beach, but they’re still gonna call it Bash At The Beach Week II.”

The event is still ongoing and is actually a two-part, 10-day spectacle. It kicked off in Coral Gables, Florida, on Wednesday night with an Episode of Dynamite and will continue as part of a cruise on Chris Jericho's Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea: Part Deux next Wednesday, with festivities carrying on until next Friday.

How Solid Would A Lawsuit Be?

We're not sure how Well a lawsuit from WWE would stand as AEW has full rights after successfully filing for a trademark towards the end of last year.

They did attempt to block Cody Rhodes's application for it based on their ownership of "The Bash" which is short for The Great American Bash. Even so, they haven't held a "The Bash" event since 2010.

WWE did have a "SuperSmackDown LIVE: The Great American Bash" in July of 2012 but that's also quite different.
