Former WWE Diva and now Best-Selling Author AJ Lee just got some great news. Her New York Times Best Seller “Crazy is my Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules” is coming to television thanks to the same Emmy-nominated production company behind Nat Geo’s “Genius” franchise and producer Jeff Fisher.

AJ Lee’s book chronicles her struggles as she grew up in a poverty-stricken household full of abuse and misfortune. She was able to overcome the odds, bipolar disorder, dropping out of college and other hurdles, ultimately finding her way as a professional wrestler and joining the WWE. Eventually, she became one of the more decorated female competitors ever. AJ Lee (real name Mendez) will serve as an Executive Producer and writer on the project.

AJ Lee said of the news, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with this team to turn “Crazy is My Super Power” into a scripted show. This is a story about the power of female strength and our incomparable ability to survive, persist and overcome. I knew that I would need partners that connected to that message, and Jeff and Sam’s bold vision was a perfect fit. I can’t wait to get started.”

It appears the people behind the project are just as excited, if not more excited than Lee. Sam Sokolow, co-founder of EUE/Sokolow and executive producer of National Geo’s first-ever scripted series “Genius” said, “We’re so excited to get to work with AJ and tell her incredibly inspiring story.” Genius followed the life of Albert Einstein and starred Hollywood icon Geoffrey Rush as Einstein. Famous director Ron Howard took the reigns for the pilot episode.

Just as the book was an interesting inside look at Lee’s life leading up and throughout her wrestling career, this show will undoubtedly turn a lot of heads and should be well worth the watch. No details about an air date or terms of the agreement were released.
