From day one, AEW has made its tag team division a clear priority, investing plenty of time, energy, and effort into its roster. The company has brought together some of the very best tag teams in the world and given them tons of time on every episode of Dynamite in order to make them feel as important as any other division.

It's something that wrestling fans have wanted to see for a long time and because of that, the division has been met with a great response. But the core reason that it works so well is because of the talent involved. From top to bottom, the tag team division is stacked in AEW, but which team has been the best?

15 The Initiative

The Initiative

The Initiative is a nice idea on paper, bringing Brandon Cutler and Peter Avalon together with Leva Bates. They're three wrestlers who have struggled to pick up victories, so making that into a storyline works.

However, the issue is that because they've lost so many matches, there isn't really a reason to care too much. It's been hard to invest in them as a team because of that, as they don't come across as stars.

14 The Hybrid 2

Hybrid 2

The Hybrid 2 really have all the talent needed to be a top team. Angelico and Jack Evans are both really solid in-ring talents who can do some insane moves, but they've had really stop-start momentum in AEW.

Whether it's injuries or other issues such as booking, the team just hasn't had the consistency needed to become a top duo. However, if they can get a string of performances together, they could really be a big part of this division.

13 The Dark Order II

Alex Reynolds & John Silver

Alex Reynolds and John Silver haven't been booked in the most dominant manner. However, these two men are insanely talented and have really proven themselves to be great in-ring workers.

They impress on a weekly basis and are clearly set for big things down the line. If AEW could book them to pick up a few more victories, then this could turn into a major tag team to keep an eye on.

12 The Dark Order

Dark Order

Evil Uno and Stu Grayson really struggled to connect or feel important when they first debuted, which had a lot to do with AEW's poor becoming of the group. However, since Brodie Lee has turned up, things have really kicked on for them.

Together, they have fantastic chemistry and that has led to some great matches. Because the group is a big part of storylines now as well, they're beginning to feel very important which has only helped them.

11 Private Party

Private Party

Private Party clearly has a huge future in AEW as a top team because they're so talented. They burst out of the gates when AEW first started and had everyone talking about them, but they certainly have cooled off since.

Having Matt Hardy as a mentor has certainly added an element of intrigue, but while they're very good in the ring, Private Party really needs to push the character elements a little further.

10 The Butcher & The Blade

The Butcher and The Blade

There's no denying that in the ring, both these guys can work. They've put together some really entertaining matches, but they have been hit and miss with storylines and how seriously they've been pushed.

There are times when they're really important and then other times they are clearly filling a spot. Some clear direction for the duo could give them a really big boost.

9 Chris Jericho & Jake Hager

Inner Circle

This is a very new tag team in the division, which is why they cannot be rated too highly. However, anything Chris Jericho is involved with is always going to be great, and already they're showing potential.

They're two very experienced talents who are going to make sure fans are interested in everything that they do. The fact they've got a clear goal to become champions really helps as well, giving an obvious reason to invest.

8 The Natural Nightmares

The Natural Nightmares

At first, there were certainly question marks about this group together. However, the execution of this has been really well done by everyone involved.

They might not put on the best matches (although they're still very good) but they do tell great stories. They work well as underdog babyfaces and are easy for fans to connect with, which makes them such a great team.

7 SCU

SCU

One of the most experienced teams in AEW, SCU were always going to be a solid addition to the roster. Their best work came early on in AEW, winning the titles and becoming a key part of the roster.

However, since then they have started slipping a little, they've dipped more into singles work, but that doesn't stop them from being one of the top teams when they're needed.

6 Lucha Bros

Lucha Bros entrance

Fans want to see more from the Lucha Bros and they really feel like two of the wrestlers who AEW has utilized the least. They're an amazing team and their feud with The Young Bucks did prove that.

But if they're pushed even more they can become the best team on the planet. Their mix of strikes and high flying action make them incredibly exciting to watch.

5 Proud And Powerful

Proud n Powerful

Santana & Ortiz are two brilliant wrestlers who have been heavily involved in tag team wrestling for a long time. However, even though they've impressed, their booking hasn't been perfect in AEW.

They've had moments and shown glimpses of what they're capable of, but there's no doubt that they can do even more. Hopefully, the team can continue to showcase their personalities and push seriously for tag team gold.

4 Best Friends

Best Friends

Best Friends are in a similar boat to Proud and Powerful. They've been solid hands so far, putting together good matches but they need a major push and storyline to make them head to the next level.

Their recent feud with Proud and Powerful brought out the best of both teams so far, and more moments like that would certainly be welcomed.

3 Jurassic Express

Jurassic Express

Jurassic Express has really connected with the AEW fans and that's why they're one of the best teams on the roster. Their unique gimmick and vastly different styles have really helped to make them stand out and entertain.

They're the ultimate babyfaces and a team that fans always love to see. Their matches are always very entertaining, but they just need a big storyline to really take them to the next level.

2 The Young Bucks

Young Bucks

Everyone knows The Young Bucks are one of the best teams of all time. They've been central to the tag team division so far and while it's felt like a mistake that they've not held gold yet, the eventual payoff will be great.

They've shown their in-ring talent with some amazing matches, but most importantly they have shown character and the ability to tell stories. It's something some fans claimed they couldn't do, but that is certainly not the case.

1 FTR

FTR

The AEW Tag Team Champions have proven what everyone already knew since they joined the company. Everyone who watched them in NXT knows how good they are, but their main roster run made some forget.

AEW suits them perfectly as they can really focus on their in-ring work and putting on amazing matches, which they do. Their attitudes and gimmick have been perfect so far and with Tully Blanchard by their side, they have really felt like a must-see part of the company.
