UFC Featherweight and Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes says she's open to the idea of joining WWE when her MMA career is over.

Nunes, perhaps the most dominant fighter in UFC history, raised eyebrows earlier this month after posting a video of her 2015 win over Shayna Baszler on Instagram. Baszler, of course, transitioned to the world of pro wrestling after her UFC career ended – becoming NXT Women's champ for 416 days and wrestling Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 36.

Sports Illustrated reached out to Nunes for comment on why she decided to post the Baszler video.

"It was huge moment in my career. It's not about showing people that I hurt her. It's a reminder to me about believing in my coach," she said. "My coach at the time wanted me to drop her with the leg kick and that's what happened."

As for a potential future with WWE, Nunes said: "Not right now, but maybe later when I retire. I'm open to it. Why not? I could try something new."

Nunes is no stranger to the co-mingling worlds of UFC and WWE. She notoriously defeated Ronda Rousey in just 48 seconds back in 2016, effectively ending Rousey's MMA career.
