NXT kicked off in a big way on Wednesday night. First with a title change and then with a marriage proposal. Don't worry, she said yes.

The Wednesday Night War is in its eleventh week now. Hard to believe that NXT and Dynamite have only been going head to head for that long. The black and gold brand has undergone a lot of changes in that time. Triple H and the rest of the higher-ups down at Full Sail panicked early on and called in the big guns pretty quickly.

That resulted in NXT stars invading Raw and SmackDown to expose them to a bigger audience, and those same stars making appearances on NXT. It worked too as after losing to Dynamite seven weeks in a row in the ratings, NXT picked up back-to-back wins. Now there is no excuse to have other stars on NXT, the real test is keeping those new viewers.

One of the main aims for both shows should be to have a strong start to the program that will keep fans watching from minute one to the very end. This week's NXT certainly did a good job of that. Wednesday night's show opened with a Cruiserweight Title match. A well-advertised bout between Lio Rush and Angel Garza which NXT has been building to for a few weeks.

The match was everything it needed to be to keep the channel-hopping fans tuned in. Action-packed, peppered with false finishes, and it even ended with a title change. NXT clearly has big plans for Garza as he is now Cruiserweight Champion. The night only got better for Garza after that. During the break, the new champ cut an emotional promo which ended with a proposal to his girlfriend.

NXT aired the footage once the show was back from the break. Thankfully, Garza's other half said yes. A new title and a new fiancée for Garza, that's quite a night. As for NXT, it could crown a couple more new champions before the end of 2019. Rhea Ripley will get a shot at Shayna Baszler's title next week on the same show that Adam Cole will be defending his NXT Title.
