Asuka and Kairi Sane will return to NXT next week to defend their Women's Tag Titles against Team Kick.

There was a time not too long ago when Superstars only passed one way between NXT, and Raw and SmackDown. Since NXT's move to the USA Network, that boundary has become far less strict. Prior to the move, Tyler Breeze returned to Full Sail and brought Fandango with him, and during episode one on USA, Finn Balor re-debuted on the black and gold brand.

WWE also revealed that there are now titles that can be won and defended across all three of its major brands. The Women's Tag Team Championships. The Kabuki Warriors currently hold the gold which means even though they were drafted to Raw, the pair still appears on SmackDown with their titles. Next week, they might well appear on all three brands in the space of five days.

That's because on this week's NXT, two teams competed for a shot at Asuka and Kairi Sane's titles. Team Kick took on two of MMA's Four Horsewomen for the opportunity. Tegan Nox has been on fire since returning from her second knee injury, and she continued that hot streak alongside Dakota Kai on Wednesday night. Perhaps Shayna Baszler should have stuck around to help out Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke.

Kai and Nox's celebrations were cut short after the match as the Tag Champions appeared on the screen with a congratulatory message. Since Asuka and Sane are now heels, the message was obviously rooted in sarcasm, and most of it was in their native tongue. Asuka is a terrific heel and while we didn't know what to expect from a heel Sane, we're enjoying what we have seen so far.

Both Asuka and Sane are former NXT Women's Champions. The Empress hasn't returned to the brand since she left as champion, relinquishing the title while she was still undefeated. That run might have come to an end on the main roster, but technically remained intact in NXT. That means Kai and Nox will not only have to overcome two former Women's Champions to win the titles but also end a streak that no one else in NXT could.
