Austin Aries Says He Did Not Ask For WWE Release

It's really a shame that Austin Aries' time with WWE didn't last very long after signing with the company in 2016.

Aries was a guest on the Talk is Jericho podcast and revealed that he was let go by WWE and that he didn't ask for his release.

News broke back in July that Aries asked for his release, but Dave Meltzer reported that he was released by WWE.  So his latest comments prove that Meltzer was right.

What's really shocking and amazing is that Aries told TIJ that WWE Creative told him that they had nothing for him. They clearly no longer wanted him around anymore, but at least they allowed him to complete his rehab while paying him.

Aries believes that his lack of fear might be why WWE Creative ended up not growing fond of him. He never had a problem giving them his thoughts and opinions on different ideas and that may have rubbed some people the wrong way.

Aries also revealed that he was supposed to be a heel against Neville, which made sense, and he ended up becoming a villain while doing commentary. Then he turned face and things didn't work out after losing four straight matches to Neville.

It was also alleged at one time that Aries wasn't happy with WWE due to the fact that he wouldn't receive any royalties from the WrestleMania 33 DVD since they didn't include his prematch against Neville.

But Aries did say that he was paid to tweet about the WrestleMania 33 DVD, so he did receive some compensation.

"There's a tweet I put out, that garnered some headlines, telling everyone that the WrestleMania 33 DVD was available in Canada on Blu-Ray, unfortunately one of the best matches of the night was left off the DVD," said Aries.

"And so people took that and made it into 'one of the reasons Austin Aries left is because he was mad his match wasn't on the DVD'."

Aries also talked about being vegan, working as a commentator for 205 Live, trying to impress WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and joining NXT.

As of right now, it looks like Aries will hit up the Independent circuit. Who knows? He could always return to WWE in the future.

Comment below and give us your thoughts on Aries' exit from WWE and if you think he'll return to the company in the future? Also do think he'll sign with another company? If so which one?
