The latest on Brock Lesnar defending his Universal Championship does not include Money in the Bank.

Since winning the title at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida by defeating Goldberg, Lesnar has stayed on top ever since, defeating names such as Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, Kane, and Roman Reigns. While many complain that Lesnar has only defended the championship on eight televised or WWE Network events, he does bring a sense of star power to the title that is lacking in the current WWE model.

Whether WWE is intentionally trying to overshadow CM Punk's 434-day WWE Championship reign is not confirmed, but it would not be surprising if that is the intent. Especially, with the latest information that has been released.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar will not be competing at Money in the Bank, scheduled to take place on June 17 in Chicago, IL. The event will be headlined by two ladder matches, one men's and one women's, and possibly a third for either the tag team or cruiserweights.

Moreover, Lesnar is also currently not scheduled to compete at SummerSlam. This leaves the Extreme Rules event, scheduled for July 15 in Pittsburgh, PA. Here is where Lesnar is expected to compete his next match, which would surpass CM Punk's modern-day record.

Regarding who Lesnar's opponent will be, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is also speculating that Roman Reigns will have another opportunity. Primarily, due to the controversial finish at the Greatest Royal Rumble event, where Reigns speared Lesnar out of the cage onto the floor, but technically touched the floor first although Lesnar was given the victory.

The project for Reigns, according to the Wrestling Observer (via Wrestling Inc.), is to give him a Daniel Bryan-style angle where he plays the underdog in an attempt for the fans to cheer him. For a short while, it worked when Reigns was feuding against Sheamus and The Authority. However, it is going to take much more than this to change the minds of many members of the WWE Universe regarding cheering for Reigns.

Based on what happened on Raw, it appears as if the next feud for Reigns will be Jinder Mahal. While Mahal is surely a heat magnet, it still may not be enough to place Reigns as a true babyface. However, WWE is proverbially sticking to their guns in making Reigns the top babyface of the company.

Whether the fans like it or not, this looks to be the objective for the foreseeable future. A heel turn could always be an option, which may substantially help Reigns become cheered in the long run. However, that does not appear to be the plan anytime soon.
