According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Daniel Bryan had agreed to return to WWE back in May and was originally scheduled to return much sooner.

The original timeline would have had Vince McMahon announcing the brand split and WWE Draft the night after Money in the Bank, along with Bryan's return to the company, as the new head of SmackDown.

Additionally, the original plans also called for Shane and Stephanie to keep running RAW while Bryan would have butted heads with them leading up to the draft.

There is no word yet on why these plans changed or when Mick Foley was brought into the picture.

Either way the way it played out makes more sense, as it's more logical for Shane and Stephanie to compete against each other on separate brands. The addition of Foley and Bryan as GMs also presumably will prevent the McMahons from being on television all the time.
