Becky Lynch was absent from this week's episode of SmackDown, and it was announced on Tuesday's episode that she would be out of action for an unspecified amount of time after an attack from Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, and Ruby Riott last week.
But according to Jon Fuentes of eWrestlingNews.com, Lynch will actually be absent as she's filming The Marine 6 for WWE Studios. The film is also starring Shawn Michaels and The Miz. However, it was not revealed how long Lynch will be away. Miz also dropped his Intercontinental Championship to Roman Reigns on last week's episode of Raw, so he could take time off to film the movie.
Lynch fell victim to NXT talents Morgan, Logan, and Riot who made their main roster debuts on last week's episode of SmackDown. The three females attacked Lynch and Naomi, then interrupted Natalya's match vs. Charlotte before attacking both of them.
The Irish Lass Kicker has been one of the company's top female performers in recent years, but the arrival of Morgan, Logan, and Riot should offset Lynch's absence. Lynch represented Team SmackDown in the women's 5-on-5 interbrand match at Survivor Series but was eliminated quickly as Team Raw emerged victorious.
The Marine 6 will be Lynch's first appearance in the film series. The first one was released in 2006, starring John Cena. This will be The Miz's fourth appearance in the series, as he reprises his role as Jake Carter. As for Lynch, this will be her first appearance in a movie. She was a stunt performer on an episode of Vikings back in 2013— her only non-WWE television show appearance.
With Lynch absent for the time being, we'll see which SmackDown female superstars get pushes until she returns. Until that time, there will be a brief pause of Lass Kicking on Shane McMahon's brand.
