Women's superstar Becky Lynch is on hiatus as she finishes filming The Marine 6, which is also starring The Miz and Shawn Michaels— but she will be back very soon.
Lynch has been off television since being attacked by Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan and Ruby Riott on the Nov. 21, 2017, episode of SmackDown. But according to Ryan Clark of eWrestlingNews.com, sources are saying that a Becky Lynch return should happen in January. He also reported that Shawn Michaels claimed that filming should be completed next week.
The Marine is a film series put on by WWE Studios, which previously starred John Cena and other superstars. For The Miz, The Marine 6 will be his fourth appearance in the series. It is Lynch's first appearance for the film series, but she's no stranger to working in front of cameras outside of wrestling. She was also a stunts person on an episode of Vikings in 2013.
Lynch was the captain of Team SmackDown in the women's 5-on-5 Survivor Series Interbrand match, though Raw emerged victorious. Before that, she was in the first women's Money in the Bank ladder match, won by Carmella.
Natalya has been the primary challenger of Charlotte's SmackDown Women's Championship over the past couple of months. But a Becky Lynch return may rekindle her rivalry with Charlotte for the championship. The Irish Lass Kicker is one of the top all-around women's superstars on the roster but hasn't received her main event push yet.
Lynch has been somewhat lost in the women's division on SmackDown, which has focused primarily on pushing Charlotte more so than other superstars. Lynch was getting a nice push from the creative team in 2016, as she was SmackDown Live's first Women's champion.
But with Lynch's return not far off, we'll see how the creative team uses her going forward. The Royal Rumble pay-per-view is just a month away, so perhaps she'll get a title shot in the near future.
