Ultimately, it is a career-defining moment to win a World Championship at WrestleMania, especially if it is your first World Title triumph, which makes the moment even sweeter. Nevertheless, title changes at WrestleMania are memorable moments, and being a Royal Rumble winner, and winning a World Title at WrestleMania can create a successful year ahead.

9 Bret Hart - WrestleMania X (1994)

Bret WM 10

History was made at the 1994 Royal Rumble when Bret Hart and Lex Luger's feet hit the ground simultaneously with both being crowned as co-Royal Rumble winners. Luger failed to unseat Yokozuna as the WWE Champion in his title match at WrestleMania X, but The Hitman was determined to make amends for losing the WWF Title to Yokozuna at WrestleMania IX.

Hart was unfortunate to compete in two successive lackluster WrestleMania main events with Yokozuna, who was not on The Excellence of Execution's level. Nevertheless, Bret winning the title back was a huge moment, as he carried The New Generation Era for the majority of 1994 as WWE  Champion.

8 Brock Lesnar - WrestleMania XIX (2003)

Kurt Angle v Brock Lesnar WrestleMania 19

Brock Lesnar was no stranger to WWE Championship gold as he was the youngest WWE Champion at the age of 25 in 2002. Moreover, Lesnar navigated his way to get back into the title picture by winning the 2003 Royal Rumble match at the first attempt which was a phenomenal achievement.

Lesnar challenged Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship, who was on the top of his game at WrestleMania XIX. Amazingly, Angle competed at the event with an injured neck. This was an outstanding match that defined technical wrestling with Lesnar prevailing over Angle for his second WWE Title.

7 Batista - WrestleMania 21 (2005)

Batista WM 21

Evolution imploded when Batista opted for Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship instead of John Bradshaw Layfield's WWE Title. The Game did everything in his power to persuade Batista to join SmackDown as he knew that Batista was a legitimate threat to his World Heavyweight Title.

The Animal earned the right to face his former Evolution mentor after he outlasted Cena for his maiden Royal Rumble triumph in 2005. This was Batista's crowning moment, and he looked devastating from start to finish with Batista capturing his first World Heavyweight Championship emphatically.

6 Stone Cold Steve Austin - WrestleMania XIV (1998)

Austin WM 14

WrestleMania XIV was a pivotal show which led to the tide turning in WWE's favor in the Monday Night Wars in WCW. Stone Cold Steve Austin became the third man after Hulk Hogan, and his WrestleMania opponent Shawn Michaels to win back-to-back Royal Rumble matches in the '90s.

The Texas Rattlesnake tossed over The Rock to win the 1998 Royal Rumble and challenged a less than 100% functioning Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship. Mike Tyson was the outside enforcer, which made the whole occasion bigger. Nevertheless, Austin dethroned Michaels for his first WWE Championship reign which saw a rebellious Austin feud with Mr. McMahon after this show.

5 Chris Benoit - WrestleMania XX (2004)

Benoit 2004

Chris Benoit was viewed by many as a certified main eventer but he had to be incredibly patient to get his chance. The Rabid Wolverine outlasted 29 other men to become the second man after Shawn Michaels to win the Royal Rumble match from the unenviable number one position in 2004.

However, Benoit decided to move over to Raw, and target Triple H's World Heavyweight Championship. Shawn Michaels added himself to the mix to make it a triple threat match at WrestleMania XX. It was one of the greatest main events in the history of WrestleMania with Benoit forcing The Game to submit to the Crippler Crossface. Benoit and his best friend Eddie Guerrero, who was the reigning WWE Champion embraced at the end of the show.

4 Becky Lynch - WrestleMania 35 (2019)

Becky 2 Belts

WrestleMania 35 was a historical moment for the Women's Evolution with Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair becoming the first women to headline WrestleMania. The Man's run to the main event was a long and arduous road but Becky prevailed in the 2019 Royal Rumble match and punched her ticket into the WrestleMania main event.

Whilst it wasn't the greatest WrestleMania main event of all time, all three pulled out all of the stops to justify why they deserved to close out 'Mania. Becky rolled up with Ronda in a crucifix pin, capturing both the Raw and SmackDown Women's Championships in the process. Fans were pleased with the outcome to see Lynch raise the two titles aloft, which she thoroughly deserved.

3 Stone Cold Steve Austin - WrestleMania X-Seven (2001)

Mania 17

From top to bottom, WrestleMania X-Seven is widely received as the greatest WrestleMania of all time. Stone Cold Steve Austin won a record third Royal Rumble match in five years at the 2001 Royal Rumble, with Austin's opponent decided at No Way Out 2001.

The Rock reclaimed the WWE Championship from Kurt Angle to set up a blockbuster WWE Title match between the two legends. Both were portrayed as faces but Austin had the support from the crowd as he was the hometown hero in Texas. However, the unthinkable happened with Mr. McMahon helping his rival Austin in pummeling The Rock which saw Austin turn heel and become a five-time WWE Champion.

2 The Undertaker - WrestleMania 23 (2007)

Undertaker WM 23

Surprisingly The Undertaker had never won a Royal Rumble match until he did it in style in 2007 when he entered 30th and became the first man to win the Rumble from that position. Undertaker challenged Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship in a blockbuster showdown at WrestleMania 23.

They were positioned in the middle of the card but they had the match of the night, outdoing John Cena and Shawn Michaels' WWE Championship bout that closed out the show. Ultimately, The Phenom dropped Batista with a jaw-dropping Tombstone Piledriver for his fifth World Championship, which saw him capture a World Title at WrestleMania for the first time in a decade.

1 Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania XII (1996)

Michaels WM 12

Shawn Michaels was hoping to go one better at WrestleMania XII after he suffered a heartbreaking loss to Diesel at WrestleMania XI for the WWE Championship. The Heartbreak Kid claimed his second Royal Rumble match victory in succession in 1996, and he was challenging his biggest rival Bret Hart in a 60-minute Iron Man Match for the WWE Title.

Fans have mixed opinions on this main event as some say it's overrated, and some say it's the best WrestleMania main event of all time. The match was filled with drama but it was Michaels' meteoric rise to the top of the WWE with Michaels dethroning Bret for his first WWE Championship. HBK sitting in the ring with the WWE Title was memorable as he was soaking in the moment. Michaels was now the face of the New Generation Era, dominating 1996 as WWE Champion for a remarkable nine months.
