The history of great wrestling factions often sees them ending in grand fashion. Huge breakups like Seth Rollins turning on The Shield, Batista giving up on Evolution, and Triple H betraying D-Generation X showed that a split can cause the ending to continue in future feuds. However, many groups have endings without someone betraying the others in the faction.

Promotions will go this route if they just feel a faction has run its course or the members need to move forward in different directions. Recent history has shown this allows the group to easily reunite if it makes sense. Regardless, fans still feel the same emotion if a popular act ends in cordial manners.

10 New Day

New Day wins

The recent end to the New Day faction the trio separated for the first time in almost six years. WWE used the draft to split them up since they did not want to have anyone turn heel on the others to end the run in heartbreaking fashion.

Big E’s singles push on Smackdown is the main reason for the end as WWE wanted to make him a star on his own. Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods moved to Raw to join the tag division there. New Day had an emotional farewell despite not breaking up.

9 The Authority

The Authority in WWE

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon becoming the top heels on WWE television in the 2010s allowed them to form The Authority faction. Randy Orton, Big Show, and Kane were the three main wrestlers until Seth Rollins turned on The Shield to join them.

The Authority helped Rollins become a top heel for WWE, but that was the end of the run. Rollins suffering an injury and the other wrestlers moving forward saw Triple H and Stephanie just working together on their own instead of having a faction behind them.

8 LAX

LAX in TNA

The trio of Homicide, Hernandez, and Konnan did great things to become the hottest act in TNA as LAX. All three talents played their roles perfectly and had the chemistry needed to thrive as the top heel team until Konnan left the company.

TNA tried to keep the faction going with Shelly Martinez and Hector Guerrero joining them as faces. Homicide and Hernandez still had good matches, but the magic of LAX was lost. The faction split up with both wrestlers moving forward in singles roles.

7 The Miztourage

The Miztourage

The Miz resurrected his career by having his wife Maryse return as his manager and aligning with lower card acts Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas to form The Miztourage. Dallas and Axel worked with Miz on a movie that made them grow closer outside of the ring.

The chemistry of The Miztourage helped Miz become one of the top heels in WWE again with a group protecting him. WWE eventually decided to end the group shortly after Maryse left the company. Dallas and Axel moved forward as a face team as Miz switched brands to be on his own again.

6 The Filthy Animals

The Filthy Animals in WCW

WCW had one of the more underrated factions of all time with The Filthy Animals. Incredible talents Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Konnan, and Torrie Wilson made up the original group that became fan favorites.

The matches and segments of The Filthy Animals always delivered since they were among the better performers in the company. WCW made changes with Juventud Guerrera, Disco Inferno, and Tygress joining, but it ended without much of an explanation when everyone went their own ways.

5 New World Order

nWo Elite

The dominance of the New World Order made them the top faction for WCW during the Monday Night Wars and arguably the best in wrestling history. Various incarnations existed, but the last major run came in 1999 as the nWo Elite.

Both Wolfpac and Hollywood factions merged to form a joint group with many top names. WCW was spiraling out of control and fans lost interest quickly in the new act. The nWo Elite disbanded quickly with everyone moving forward in their own roles. Hogan went back to the red and yellow and the group ended without an official breakup.

4 The Wyatt Family

WWE booked The Wyatt Family with a few different versions that all found relative success. Bray Wyatt led each chapter of the popular group with Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman as the other rotating members.

The desire to see them in singles action saw the faction ending on a few occasions. There was never an official breakup of the Wyatt Family as brand split drafting or wrestlers moving into new roles inspired the ending each time.

3 Raven's Nest

Raven was the top heel for ECW during an important time in the company’s history. The innovative character work saw Raven leading his own faction called Raven's Nest with Stevie Richards, Blue Meanie, and a few other rotating members.

ECW gave Raven the ball and he ran with it as a top tier world champion. The longevity of the group could have been much stronger, but he received a WCW contract offer to leave ECW. Raven ended Raven’s Nest by leaving the company and starting a new version called The Flock in WCW.

2 Nexus

Nexus attacks John Cena

WWE dropped the ball with Nexus when they looked like a top act in the early months. Wade Barrett led a group of young and fresh talents looking to take over WWE. The infamous debut and a few more beatdown segments made them come off as credible heels.

Things started to fall apart when John Cena scored victories that exposed the faction. CM Punk eventually replaced Barrett as the leader rebranding the New Nexus as his own. However, the push during the incredible summer of 2011 saw Punk distanced from Nexus and the faction dropped altogether when he was reaching a new top level.

1 The Hart Foundation

The Hart Foundation

Bret Hart becoming an outstanding heel allowed him to form his own faction. The Hart Foundation saw Bret aligning with his relatives and close friends to run down the United States. Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, and many other wrestlers feuding with the group injected new life into WWE.

The Hart Foundation had a lot left in the tank, but it ended due to Vince McMahon wanting to get out of Bret’s huge contract. Things officially came to an end when the Montreal Screwjob ended Bret’s WWE career with Davey Boy Smith and Jim Neidhart leaving with him.
