The Women's Evolution in WWE has been an incredible journey. The division, once referred to as Divas, has occupied WrestleMania's main event. The Four Horsewomen of NXT can be credited largely for this, as Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, and Bayley wowed the WWE Universe with their matches in WWE's developmental.

However, it hasn't been all smooth sailing. The Women's Evolution has hit its share of bumps in the road, with misused angles, underdeveloped feuds, and poorly booked storylines. Here are five of the best Women's Evolution matches... and five of the worst.

10 Best: Charlotte Vs. Becky Lynch (Royal Rumble 2016)

The Divas Revolution of 2015 had a rocky start, but this match was the foundation for the future of the Women's Evolution. Becky Lynch made a sympathetic babyface, and Charlotte an antagonistic heel, but it was the return of Sasha Banks that fans exploded for.

The culmination of this feud between the former NXT Superstars saw them compete at WrestleMania for the Women's Championship, which replaced the Divas Championship upon its debut. This match propelled the narrative going forward for the future of the women's division.

9 Worst: Brie Bella Vs. Charlotte Vs. Sasha Banks (Battleground 2015)

This was the first PPV match to feature the former NXT Superstars after their ascent to the main roster during what was heralded as the Divas Revolution. Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch debuted on Raw during a segment with Stephanie McMahon which saw fans pop for the future of women's wrestling.

Rather than developing a solid narrative, the Superstars were hastily split into three teams, each of them represented in this match by a singular member. It was an underwhelming match to follow the hype of such a momentous debut.

8 Best: Charlotte Flair Vs. Asuka Vs. Becky Lynch (TLC 2018)

Three of the most acclaimed female competitors in WWE clashed in this Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match for the SmackDown Women's Championship. The Empress Of Tomorrow captured the belt after interference from Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey.

Not only was this match a grueling, hard-hitting slugfest featuring some impressive spots, but the interjection from The Baddest Woman On The Planet set the stage for her high profile feud with Becky Lynch and spurred them to WrestleMania's main event.

7 Worst: Charlotte & Dana Brooke Vs. Becky Lynch & Natalya (Money In The Bank 2016)

This match appeared to be a worrying sign that WWE was stalling momentum with the Women's Evolution, as the under-developed tag match was a short and forgettable bout. Becky Lynch, long before her days as The Man, was a cookie-cutter babyface reasonably over with the fans.

It was a lackluster match that could have been far better considering the talent involved. Even The Queen Of Hearts' heel turn wasn't enough to elevate it, though it did later lead to her capturing the SmackDown Women's Championship and holding a title in WWE for the second time in her long career.

6 Best: Becky Lynch Vs. Charlotte Flair (Evolution 2018)

The Queen and The Man competed in this Last Woman Standing Match for the SmackDown Women's Championship during the company's first all-female PPV and delivered an intense, brutal showdown that thrilled fans in the main event. The Man is arguably the biggest female babyface in WWE and was riding the momentum of support from the WWE Universe for this match.

Both women were unforgiving, hitting each other with kendo sticks and steel chairs. Lynch's leg drop from the top of the ladder was especially a highlight, even as Flair persisted in getting to her feet.

5 Worst: Charlotte Vs. Paige (TLC 2016)

The Queen and The Anti-Diva never pursued a real feud during their time in NXT despite being two of developmental's biggest breakout stars. It seemed natural that they were given an opportunity on the main roster instead, though this bout failed to live up to expectations.

This feud should have been far more intense considering their history as Team PCB members, but a scathing pipebomb from Paige was the only real highlight of this rivalry. Charlotte lacked charisma as a babyface, and multiple shaky spots stalled this match.

4 Best: Sasha Banks VS. Charlotte Flair Vs. Becky Lynch (WrestleMania 32)

This match was bound to happen the moment Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch debuted on the main roster. Pioneers of the Women's Evolution, the former NXT Superstars competed for the newly introduced WWE Women's Championship, retiring the Divas Championship and with it an old chapter in the story of women's wrestling.

Each Superstar had an impressive entrance to the ring, which only added to the match's prestige. Each competitor received their chance to shine in the ring additionally, Flair executing a stunning moonsault onto both of her rivals on the outside of the ring.

3 Worst: 10 Women Tag Team Match (WrestleMania 32)

Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte Flair were occupying the title picture during WrestleMania season, which meant the other women in the WWE locker room were relegated to a generic tag match on the pre-show.

Little thought and effort were given to this match, and no real rivalries or angles were explored. The only significant aspect of the match appeared in the form of Brie Bella's retirement, which prompted former Divas Champion Nikki Bella, then recovering from neck surgery, to join her sister in the ring for a post-match celebration.

2 Best: Sasha Banks Vs. Bayley (NXT: Brooklyn)

Despite the plethora of incredible matches the women's division has showcased in recent years, this remains the pinnacle of the Women's Evolution. The Boss and The Huggable One stole the show during this NXT PPV, competing for the NXT Women's Championship in a grueling match filled with big spots and impressive in-ring psychology.

Bayley captured the title from Banks after both women gave it they're all in the ring. Fellow NXT Four Horsewomen Becky Lynch and Charlotte joined them in the ring post-match for an emotional celebration of a pivotal moment for women's wrestling.

1 Worst: Team BAD Vs. Team PCB Vs. Team Bella (SummerSlam 2015)

Much like the bout between Brie Bella, Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair at Battleground, this match was hurt by a lack of developed narrative despite its importance as an initial feud for the Divas Revolution.

Nikki Bella's Divas Championship should have been at stake here. Instead, the three teams faced each other in a pointless tag team match to stall time until the Bella Twin surpassed AJ Lee's record as the longest-reigning Divas Champion. The Superstars tried their best, but this match did little to garner much investment on the fans' behalf.
