Beth Phoenix is one of the most iconic females in WWE history. The Glamazon is a former three-time WWE Women's Champion and a one-time Divas Champion, but some things in her legendary career failed to make logical sense.

Beth Phoenix epitomized women's wrestling in the Ruthless Aggression Era and PG Era when she displayed her strength to the roster. Unfortunately, Phoenix was away ahead of her time as women's wrestling was not taken seriously, but she definitely made a mark on the industry.

Phoenix is a WWE Hall of Famer and rightfully so, and she is a commentator on NXT. However, whilst Phoenix carved out a successful in-ring career, some booking decisions were nonsensical that played a part in her decision to finally leave WWE in 2012.

10 Dropping Women's Championship In A Handicap Match

Beth v LayCool

Beth Phoenix turned face in 2010, and in all honesty, it was not a role that suited The Glamazon. She found herself engaged in a feud with LayCool, and she defeated Michelle McCool for her third and final WWE Women's Championship at Extreme Rules 2010.

However, Phoenix tore her ACL which is why her Women's Title reign did not last longer than intended. She defended her newly won title against LayCool on the May 14, 2010, edition of SmackDownLayCool prevailed with Layla pinning Beth, which was nonsensical as she should have either relinquished the title or lost it in a one-on-one match.

9 Not Having A Marquee Singles Match At WrestleMania

WM 26

Despite being a four-time Women's Champion and a pioneer of the Women's Division, Beth Phoenix never had a marquee singles match at WrestleMania. The Glamazon has been featured in five matches at WrestleMania and all of them have been in multi-person matches.

Phoenix definitely deserved to have significant marquee singles match at WrestleMania as she is a trailblazer in the business and was consistent in the ring. Despite being in her prime, Phoenix never got to have a huge WrestleMania moment due to the sad state that women's wrestling was in.

8 Failing To Win Miss WrestleMania

Miss WrestleMania

Current talent and legends competed in a Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXV to crown Miss WrestleMania. Beth Phoenix was one of the favorites to take the crown home, and the likes of Melina and Mickie James were also marquee names involved in this encounter.

It wasn't the greatest spectacle to watch, but it was a mockery of women's wrestling. Santino Marella disguised as a female called "Santina" won the match after he eliminated Phoenix and Melina. It was farcical, and to celebrate 25 years of WrestleMania, and to have Marella win that match was a joke. Phoenix certainly deserved to win that match for her dominance in the past couple of years.

7 Didn't Hold The Women's Championship For The Whole Of 2008

Phoenix and Marella

Beth Phoenix began 2008 as the WWE Women's Champion, and she ended the year as Women's Champion. The Glamazon was leaps and bounds above the rest of the women's roster and she was an authoritative heel Women's Champion.

However, Phoenix added another layer to her character when she sided with Santino Marella, and they were called Glamarella. Phoenix dropped the Women's Title to Mickie James in April, but she regained the title at SummerSlam. Moreover, Phoenix deservedly won the 2008 Slammy Award for Diva of the Year, and to remain dominant, she should have held the title for the entire calendar year.

6 Losing Streak Before Leaving

Raw 2012

In the fall of 2012, Beth Phoenix decided to ride into the sunset as she was frustrated with the way women's wrestling was being portrayed on WWE television. Women barely got five minutes to tell a meaningful story, and The Glamazon decided enough is enough.

What was distasteful was that Beth was being treated as an enhancement talent by losing weekly before she departed. The Glamazon was a huge asset to the women's locker room, and she didn't deserve to bow out on a losing streak, which was hugely disappointing.

5 Getting Pinned By Maria Menounos At WrestleMania XXVIII

WM 28

Celebrities are always involved at WrestleMania and Maria Menounos was no different at WrestleMania XXVIII. Phoenix was the reigning Divas Champion, and she teamed up with Eve Torres to face Kelly Kelly and Menounos.

In fairness, all four women put on a respectable match, which went back and forth. Inevitably, Kelly Kelly and Menounos won the match, but the person who got pinned was nonsensical. The Glamazon was rolled up by Menounos, taking the loss was not the issue but Phoenix was the Divas Champion, and Eve should have taken the fall as it makes Phoenix look weak as Divas Champion by being pinned by a celebrity.

4 Not Beating Kelly Kelly For The Divas Title At Night Of Champions 2011

Beth v Kelly

Finally, Beth Phoenix turned heel in the summer of 2011 after a mediocre babyface run that had grown stale. The Glamazon and Natalya were known as The Divas of Doom, and they wanted to dominate the roster and get rid of wrestlers like Kelly Kelly.

After losing her Divas Title match to Kelly Kelly at SummerSlam, Phoenix tried once more by facing Kelly Kelly at Night of Champions 2011. This time, it was in The Glamazon's hometown in Buffalo, New York. Phoenix was pumped, as she had the hometown support. She should have won the title but fell short once more. Beth was lucky the third time at Hell in a Cell, but the title change should have happened at Night of Champions.

3 Losing To Candice Michelle At Unforgiven 2007

Phoenix v Candice

The Glamazon developed a mean streak upon her return after she broke her jaw in her debut match with Victoria in 2006. Phoenix turned heel, and she began chasing after Candice Michelle's Women's Championship after she won a number one contender's Battle Royal at SummerSlam 2007.

Phoenix went on to challenge Candice for the Women's Title at Unforgiven 2007. However, it seemed that it would be a foregone conclusion that Beth would capture the Women's Championship. That failed to materialize with Candice retaining the title which made little sense. That could have been detrimental to Phoenix's career, but thankfully, she claimed the title at No Mercy.

2 Team Beth Losing To Team Mickie

Survivor Series 2007

Beth Phoenix marched into Survivor Series 2007 as the new WWE Women's Champion, leading Jillian Hall, Layla, Melina, and Victoria into battle. They clashed with Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Torrie Wilson, Maria, and Michelle McCool.

It wasn't a traditional Survivor Series elimination match which was bizarre as it was a 10-Diva tag team match. Phoenix being the reigning Women's Champion was the star player, and this was another opportunity for Beth to cement herself as the top female in the company. Beth's team should have prevailed instead of Mickie's team getting the bragging rights.

1 Not Winning The WWE Women's Tag Team Titles With Natalya

Beth Phoenix WrestleMania 35 Cropped

The WWE Women's Tag Team Championship was another huge step taken in the Women's Evolution. Beth Phoenix and Natalya were pioneers of the Women's Division, and they played a huge part in paving the way for women in WWE to progress.

Nevertheless, WrestleMania 35 was a historical night as women headlined WrestleMania for the first time. Beth Phoenix and Natalya challenged Bayley and Sasha Banks in a fatal-4-way tag team match for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. Nia Jax and Tamina, and The IIconics were also added to the fray. Instead of the less experienced IIconics prevailing, Beth and Natalya should have captured the Women's Tag Team Titles. Beth may have not had the desire to return full-time as she is a mother, but it would have been a cool moment for The Divas of Doom to have a short run with the titles.
