Big E is one of the best homegrown talents of WWE's current generation, and he has been wrestling for over a decade. While he has attained success with The New Day, he is also starting to get a big singles push after getting separated from the faction.

Big E is a record eight-time Tag Team Champion, having won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship six times and the RAW Tag Team Championship twice. He is also a former NXT Champion and a two-time Intercontinental Champion. From playing a serious character to a light-hearted character, Big E has done a great thing in WWE. But he has also done things in his career that make little sense.

10 Getting Rid Of The Full Name

Previously, Big E's full name was Big E Langston, which he used in NXT as well as in the initial days of his main roster career. The name, Big E Langston, was certainly suitable considering his previous gimmick was notably different from the current one.

In 2014, Big E got rid of the last name ' Langston', even before joining New Day, which didn't make sense. He was among those wrestlers whose names were shortened in WWE.

9 Didn't Defend The Intercontinental Title At 2021 Royal Rumble

Big E's post-New Day Era singles push got off to a flying start, as he won the Intercontinental Championship from Sami Zayn on SmackDown. While he kept defending the title on weekly episodes, he didn't put the Intercontinental Championship on the line at the 2021 Royal Rumble, which was the first big PPV of the year.

The prestigious Intercontinental Championship looked irrelevant when he regularly defended it on SmackDown but not in a big pay-per-view.

8 Squandered Two US Championship Opportunities In 2013

While Big E captured the Intercontinental Championship twice, he never won the United States Championship, although he came close to winning it back in 2013 when he was booked well as a singles star. He faced Dean Ambrose for the US Championship, not once but twice.

Interestingly, he didn't win the title, but he didn't lose either of those two matches either. First, Big E beat Ambrose by count-out at Hell in a Cell, resulting in the latter retaining the belt. Later, he won the rematch by disqualification. This makes even less sense as Ambrose did almost nothing with the title when Big E could have used the boost.

7 Forced Referees To Count Five Instead Of Three In NXT

After FCW was renamed as NXT, Big E started an incredible unbeaten run, as he would decimate his opponents with ease that made him look like an indestructible monster. However, a bizarre thing happened for a brief period in his booking.

After hitting his opponent Big Ending, a confident Big E would ask referees to count till five instead of three, which made little sense. The referees going along with this is a bit bizarre instead of Big E counting the 5 himself.

6 Never Won A Singles Title As Part Of The New Day

The New Day were an exceptional tag team, but Kofi Kingston enjoyed a dream single run back in 2019. He won the WWE Championship for the first time in his career, and he had a stupendous run of six months.

On the contrary, Big E was younger and certainly the powerhouse of the stable. However, he never won any singles title when he was part of The New Day.

5 Won A Singles Match To Win The Tag Team Titles

Miz-Jey-BigE

Right after WrestleMania 36, a SmackDown Tag Team Championship match was held on an episode of SmackDown. Meanwhile, Big E faced The Miz and Jey Uso in a triple threat singles match.

While The Miz represented Miz and Morrison, Jey Uso represented The Usos, and Big E represented The New Day. Big E won the match as well as the twin belts but it didn't make sense to crown Tag Team winners from a triple threat match.

4 The Touch Of New Day In His Current Gimmick Despite Becoming A Singles Star

Yes, Big E has changed his theme song as well as entrance after becoming a singles star, but he still has a glimpse of the funny character from The New Day. He still does stuff to make people laugh, and his promos look like he is still part of the faction.

It doesn't make sense to have the shade of the character from his time in The New Day if he wants to be taken seriously as a top champion.

3 Missed The Opportunity To Be An On-screen Couple With Kaitlyn

Big E Kaitlyn

After making his main roster debut, Big E was a bodyguard for Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee. When the latter was involved in a feud with Kaitlyn, Big E was revealed as the secret admirer of Kaitlyn on an episode of RAW.

While Big E teased to kiss Kaitlyn in that segment, he eventually dropped Kaitlyn on the mat and left her, proving his loyalty to Ziggler and AJ Lee. Nonetheless, a romantic storyline between Kaitlyn and Big E would have made them a power couple, as both were known for their strength in the ring. Nobody ever said heels always have to be smart.

2 Didn't Defend The Intercontinental Title At WrestleMania 30

Given the honor of WrestleMania, every title is expected to defend at the Show of Shows, especially the Intercontinental Championship, which is a prestigious belt with a rich history. However, it didn't happen when Big E was the Intercontinental Champion in 2014.

While he participated in that event in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal match, he didn't put the title on the line that didn't make any sense.

1 The Gospel Era Gimmick With The New Day

The WWE fans needed time to adjust to the fact that Big E went from being one of the serious characters on the roster to be a goofy persona, who could dance and crack jokes in every segment with The New Day. However, Big E, or New Day in general, didn't have a smooth start, especially when they had the Gospel Era gimmick.

Big E was jeered heavily and got negative reactions in every arena until he dropped the gimmick with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston.
