NWA's presentation of Into the Fire was a big success by many accounts, but none greater than the surprise that included a huge free agent arriving and seemingly joining the company.

There was a small portion of fans that thought Marty Scurll might show up in WWE. A huge portion of fans believed he's go to AEW. Pretty much no one figured he'd ignore both companies and join NWA. On Saturday night, that's exactly where Scurll appeared after becoming a free agent.

Scurll’s ROH contract ran up on November 30th. Most people believed he was leaving. He worked the Final Battle pay-per-view for ROH on Friday, then on Saturday showed up at NWA's biggest pay-per-view in ages. It's a huge get for NWA.

Scurll's appearance came just after Nick Aldis’ had successful defended his NWA World Heavyweight Title against James Storm. Aldis wondered if anyone could take the title away from him and The Villain appeared at the top of the arena. He walked down to the ring and the show ended as the two were locked in a stare-down.

The announcers called Scurll the biggest free agent in the business today and whether or not Scurll has signed with NWA isn't completely clear. It appears as such as Stu Bennett said "Scurll is in the NWA!", but this could be a stopover situation.

With the focus on him looking to Aldis, one has to assume, at the very least, Scurll will be with the NWA long enough to compete for the championship.

He Could Also Join AEW

Considering the NWA runs quite infrequently and AEW is a bit more open to wrestlers appearing for other promotions, it's possible he's still on his way to AEW. What we do know, he likely won't be appearing at TLC on Sunday for WWE.
