Each week the WWE spits out more programming than most fans know what to do with. So much happens in front of the camera that it’s difficult to process everything. Behind the scenes, there’s, even more, going on than fans realize and what comes of that is a pile of rumors that we as fans enjoy sharing in the hopes we may land on a few nuggets of truth.
This week is no exception. From Hideo Itami to Neville to The Royal Rumble, and WrestleMania, there is plenty to talk about. What is John Cena doing? How long will Dean Ambrose be out of action? Is Matt Hardy becoming more “Broken” by the day?
Here are five of the biggest rumors going on in the WWE this week.
5. The GTS Banned?
There have been differing reports on the status of Hideo Itami’s finishing maneuver the GTS since Brian Kendrick got hurt by it on Monday’s Raw broadcast. Some are reporting the WWE has outlawed it and that Itami’s use of the Rings of Saturn submission as his finisher on Tuesday’s 205 Live is evidence of that. Others are suggesting that the two are not connected.
It might be worth noting that Itami using some of Neville’s offense is a sign that talks between the King of the Cruiserweights and the WWE are not going well.
4. Piano Man

Matt Hardy came out to the ring to his “Broken” gimmick piano music at a recent WWE Live event. Speculation is this means he’s secured the rights to use a number of other “Broken” trademarks and that fans will get to see these things start showing up on television broadcasts right away.
It will be interesting to see just how much WWE goes in the direction of the “Broken” gimmick or tries to add it’s own signature style to the “Woken” persona. Hardy has teased on Twitter that his wife Reby might join him in the near future.
3. Ambrose Out Less Time
There are multiple sites reporting that the nine-month window given by the WWE for Dean Ambrose‘s injury is not accurate. Some are suggesting it could be as little as three months and as much as seven months but the nine-month timeline is more than he needs.
It could be a way to get him back in time for WrestleMania in a surprise role but that thinking could be premature.
2. Cena To Have Major Role At WrestleMania
Despite now being a part-time talent, WWE is still planning on using John Cena in a major way at WrestleMania 34. The first ideas tossed around were Cena facing AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. That looks like it will no longer be the case and instead, Cena might take on someone like Batista, Goldberg, or even Hulk Hogan.
It appears as though whoever Cena’s opponent will be, it doesn’t involve a long and drawn out storyline. It might be more of a spectacle match that doesn’t require the buildup to sell how worthy it is being added to the card.
1. Women’s Royal Rumble
The all-female Royal Rumble is getting a lot of attention. From oddsmakers calling Ronda Rousey a favorite to win to rumors that Kelly Kelly, Beth Phoenix, and Lita were all contacted by the WWE to be a part of the match. The company needs 30 women to take part and the important thing is that most, if not all, are recognizable names and faces.
There is no further word from WWE on Paige and her status after being injured at a WWE Live event this week.
