It's always a fun time to talk about what "might" be going down in the world of professional wrestling. Rumors and speculation monopolize Internet dirt sheets and fans around the world find pure joy in trying to guess where WWE storylines are going and what the writers and Vince McMahon might have in store.

Clash Of Champions is right around the corner and after that comes the Royal Rumble. The Rumble is one of the most notorious WWE pay-per-views for many reasons. There are surprises, returns, and more as the WWE sets the stage for WrestleMania.

While some of our rumors don't look that far ahead, it is interesting to see what the WWE is planning with some of it's bigger characters and who knows, perhaps moves today might have implications that affect the biggest show of them all.

5. Nia Jax and Enzo Amore

Nia Jax and Enzo Amore

The Wrestling Observer is reporting that one of the reasons Nia Jax has been seen warming up to Enzo Amore of late is because the company is trying to distance her from Asuka and the women of Absolution who invaded Raw and need to be pushed as strong forces. The best way to help Asuka and Paige's group is not to have them cross paths with Jax since Jax should be able to take any or all of them.

Placing Jax in a story with Amore completely takes your mind to a much stranger place. She is rumored to show up on 205 Live and be part of his storyline there.

4. The Woken Family

Right now, there is no sign that Reby Sky or Senor Benjamin will be joining Matt Hardy on his journey to becoming "Woken" in the WWE. But, Sky did post a photo of her being interviewed by WWE for a WWE Network special that will be taking a look at Matt and Jeff's return to the WWE.

Vince McMahon is rumored to be loving Matt's new gimmick and that could lead to Reby Sky being a part of the story down the road.

3. Dawson Due Back

There is speculation that Scott Dawson of the Revival is due back pretty quickly from injury. He could show up as early as the first part of 2018 and potentially make a return by the time the Royal Rumble rolls around.

It has been a rough go for The Revival since debuting on Raw as both members have been hit with untimely injuries. The timing of the return could be excellent considering the news that another WWE tag team may have gotten some terrible injury news.

2. Sheamus Retiring?

The severity of what is going on with Sheamus right now isn't known but his reported injury, spinal stenosis is the same kind of injury that retired Stone Cold Steve Austin and Edge from in-ring performing.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required) is reporting that the career of WWE star Sheamus’ could be over. That's not a good sign at all, but the silver lining is, if this is the case, WWE thinks very highly of the Irish Brawler and would find him a job in the company if wrestling wasn't an option. For now, it's hard to know the level to which this is a problem. Sheamus has been posting photos of him active in the gym as recently as Dec 4th.

1. Shane McMahon Turning

Via WWE.com

The current storyline with Shane McMahon going out of his way to punish Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn could be the start of what many think is McMahon's turn to becoming a heel character on SmackDown Live and potentially be stirring something up between himself and Daniel Bryan.

If this is the case, it's hard to say how this will go. Shane hasn't really been a heel character on his own. He's been part of The Corporation and his sister Stephanie is a natural heel character but Shane may not have that side in him if he's not the "spoiled rich kid" persona.
