This Sunday marks the final WWE pay per view of the calendar year, Clash Of Champions. Every single SmackDown Live championship will be on the line plus a couple of the blue brand's Superstars will see their careers put at risk too. The build to the pay-per-view this weekend hasn't exactly been great with much of WWE's focus staying with the career-threatening match involving Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. That may actually play to their advantage. Fans aren't expecting much from this Sunday, so WWE won't have to work as hard in order to impress those who choose to tune in. A couple of great matches plus a surprise or two and the event will exceed the WWE Universe's expectations. Here are five bold predictions that, if they happen, would make Clash Of Champions a great show.
5. 2B Does Not Stand For Bludgeon Brothers
One of the longest-running sagas in WWE right now is Breezango's hunt for who was attacking them and trashing their office. A long, long time ago now Tyler Breeze and Fandango discovered a clue, 2B. They discovered that clue around the same time as The Bludgeon Brothers were formed, so mystery solved. 2B means Bludgeon Brothers right? Well, that's certainly what Breezango and their friends The Ascension seem to think. It may be revealed to not be quite that simple at Clash Of Champions, however. The creators of The Fashion Files will take on Harper and Rowan in tag team action and expect there to be a twist revealing that the former Wyatts aren't the ones behind the string of attacks.
4. Sunday Really Will Be Rusev Day
Clash Of Champions will feature a four-way match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. The bout will revisit the incredible rivalry that took place throughout most of the summer between The Usos and The New Day. There will be two other teams in that ring though and it will be the one pictured above who will truly steal the show. WWE is clearly looking for another team to step up on SmackDown Live. They expected that team to be Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable, but that doesn't seem to have worked out. Instead, the fans have taken to the team of Rusev and Aiden English and they will likely get their crowning moment on Sunday night.
3. Bobby Roode Will Become US Champion
There are a few things that need a serious boost on SmackDown Live right now. One of those things is the United States Championship and another is Bobby Roode. Surprise surprise both of those things are in the same match at Clash Of Champions. If the powers that be at WWE have any sense, then they will begin the first main roster title reign of The Glorious one this weekend. The title has faded back into obscurity while in the hands of Baron Corbin and Roode's booking on SmackDown Live has been less than stellar. Here's hoping that by this time next week Tuesday nights are playing host to a glorious champion.
2. Daniel Bryan Will Screw Over Shane McMahon
There are a number of things that could happen in the tag team match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn vs Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura. With Daniel Bryan adding himself to the match to act as a special guest referee alongside Shane McMahon it's probably safe to assume that Owens and Zayn won't be losing their jobs. The whole angle is suggesting that Shane-O Mac will attempt to be unfair in his quest to rid SmackDown Live of KO and Sami with Bryan being the voice of reason. Hopefully, it won't be as straightforward as that. We think that the GM may actually turn heel in this bout. WWE is trying to hammer home that McMahon is the babyface and is in the right when it comes to this situation. Bryan clearly doesn't agree and maybe he will outright defy his commissioner at Clash Of Champions in order to save Owens and Zayn's jobs.
1. And New WWE Champion...
At Clash Of Champions, Jinder Mahal will get his contractually obligated rematch for the WWE Championship. Most are likely hoping that this is merely a hurdle that needs to be cleared in order to leave the era of The Maharajah behind. In actuality though, it may be the beginning of the second chapter. The WWE Championship changed hands suddenly, presumably so that Styles could face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series thus making the match a lot more interesting. Now that's out of the way normal service may resume and there's a very real chance that Jinder wins the title back. He's got The Singh Brothers on his side and they could cause chaos in order for their master to reclaim his crown.
