It finally happened.

Bray Wyatt was able to withstand brutal attacks from Seth Rollins - as well as a series of fireworks - throughout their falls count anywhere match at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia.

The Fiend then pinned Rollins to become the new Universal Champion, winning the belt for the first time in his career.

It was only a matter of time until The Fiend finally conquered The Architect. Wyatt was in Rollins' head for several weeks, and the Universal Champion was starting to lose control of himself. And now, Wyatt has slayed the dragon.

This victory for Wyatt is monumental for numerous reasons. The main one being that SmackDown Live now owns both the Universal and WWE Championships; Brock Lesnar defeated Cain Velasquez to retain his title. This marks the first time since the 2016 brand split where the two titles are carried by superstars on the same brand.

Prior to this match, Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio suggested that Wyatt could win the Universal Championship. Ratings have been a serious problem for SmackDown Live on Friday nights, so having both championships on the show will certainly help viewership.

That said, it should be noted that Wyatt has been advertised for numerous Raw events through the month of November - which suggests the Universal Championship will still appear on the flagship program.

With the loss, Rollins sees his second Universal Championship reign at 81 days. His first run with the title lasted 98 days, before he dropped it to Brock Lesnar at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

Wyatt Needed This More Than Rollins

This loss won't do much damage for Rollins' character. He's still the established main event face on Monday Night Raw. In Wyatt's case, it was critical to give him the title belt while he's in the early stages of a superb heel run. WWE has botched so many opportunities with top heels in the past, but they did the right thing by giving Wyatt his first run with the Universal Championship here.
