5 Wrestlers Brock Lesnar Made Look Legit (& 5 He Made Look Like A Joke)

The use of Brock Lesnar in WWE always leads to a mixed reaction from fans of the company. Many casual fans love Lesnar due to his unique nature: he's such a beast compared to many of the other competitors. Others, meanwhile, detest Lesnar for dominating the world title picture as a part-time star. He often destroys the full-time wrestlers to kill their credibility, then promptly leaves for a few months.

The interesting thing is that Lesnar does try to make a few wrestlers look good when he works with them, but it’s few and far between. Some superstars benefited from this while others would have a brutal run against him. We will look at the results of several wrestling greats working with Lesnar at the top level in WWE.

10 Legit: AJ Styles

The Survivor Series 2017 match between AJ Styles and Brock Lesnar featured the WWE Champion vs the Universal Champion. Lesnar won, as expected, but Styles delivered one of the best performances against him in recent memory to showcase his potential.

This match was longer than most Lesnar bouts, as he gave more offense to Styles. His better matches often see him facing smaller wrestlers, and this was no different. Styles came off as an equal to Lesnar, which was a bit of a surprise given the Beast Incarnate's booking.

9 Joke: Kofi Kingston

The WWE Championship reign of Kofi Kingston ended in embarrassing fashion on the first SmackDown Fox show. Brock Lesnar ended Kingston’s long reign in just ten seconds after hitting an F5. MMA fighter Cain Velasquez attacked Lesnar essentially removing Kofi from the challenger position.

Kingston had an improbable journey to the top of the WWE, with an incredible WrestleMania 35 victory over Daniel Bryan. WWE didn’t seem to care about Kingston's prior run defeating the best heels, as Lesnar squashed him and greatly harmed his credibility as a top-tier name.

8 Legit: Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins has had a polarizing run as Universal Champion, but there’s no arguing that he came off well in his matches against Brock Lesnar. The quick win at WrestleMania 35 was a surprise, considering Lesnar's track record of delivering the opposite result.

Rollins had an even stronger performance against him at SummerSlam, with a long match validating him as a top star. Lesnar did more against Rollins than he has against any other opponent over the past year. WWE sadly ruined Rollins’ booking moving forward, but he did look legit against the Beast.

7 Joke: The Wyatt Family

The original plan for WrestleMania 32 was to see Bray Wyatt face off against Brock Lesnar in a top tier match. Bray and The Wyatt Family eliminated Lesnar from the Royal Rumble match and started setting up the story for the feud.

Lesnar destroyed Erick Rowan and Luke Harper to get his revenge, never even bothering to face off with Wyatt. This was, perhaps, even more disrespectful than squashing him within minutes.

6 Legit: Goldberg

The return of Goldberg completely saved his WWE legacy, after the run of 2003-2004. Brock Lesnar and Goldberg both wanted a second chance for their feud after the infamous WrestleMania XX match.

Goldberg returned at Survivor Series 2016 and squashed Lesnar in one of the most shocking matches in WWE history. The Beast clearly wanted to work a longer program with Goldberg, which led to this finish and Goldberg defeating Kevin Owens to win the Universal Championship. Goldberg has become part of the WWE family --making consistent returns-- thanks to Lesnar.

5 Joke: Dean Ambrose

The WrestleMania 32 match between Brock Lesnar and Dean Ambrose had fans hoping for a violent classic, given their styles. It turned out to be a huge disappointment that just hurt Ambrose’s momentum.

The much-anticipated match was a huge flop. It played out in front of one of the greatest crowds in wrestling history, too.

4 Legit: Daniel Bryan

Daniel Bryan turned heel and won the WWE Championship just days before Survivor Series 2018, which placed him in a match against Raw’s Universal Champion Brock Lesnar. The clash of heel vs heel somehow worked out, as Bryan’s smaller size added an easy story.

It started Bryan’s new character off in tremendous fashion. He appeared happy with the punishment unleashed by Lesnar, which culminated in a red-hot comeback. The Beast ultimately won the match, but Bryan came out looking stronger than ever.

3 Joke: Randy Orton

Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton was billed as a dream match in the main event of SummerSlam 2016. Although both men have had legendary careers and started out at around the same time, this was the only match they had against each other on television.

Lesnar absolutely destroyed Orton with little competition or drama in the main event. The Beast delivered some of the most vicious elbows in WWE history. The scary visual was meant to add to Lesnar’s appeal, but it made Orton lose credibility for a while before building it back up.

2 Legit: Samoa Joe

One of the more unlikely opponents that were well-served by tangling with Brock Lesnar was Samoa Joe. The two wrestlers were known for being tough guys, which added to the dynamic of the story. Joe presented a legitimate threat to Lesnar, based on his promos and efusal to back down.

Lesnar gave Samoa Joe more offense during the feud. The match between the two was entertaining, with Lesnar's opponent having a great deal of momentum (which is rare in bouts with the Beast). Samoa Joe ended up losing, but he became a bigger star thanks to the feud with Lesnar.

1 Joke: Braun Strowman

The size and strength of Braun Strowman should have made him a legitimate threat to Brock Lesnar. Strowman even looked great against Lesnar in a fatal four way match that had fans wondering if he would be the one selected to end Brock’s Universal Championship reign.

The two wrestlers faced off on three occasions following this, with Lesnar winning each time. All the wins came in dominant fashion to cool down any momentum held by Braun. WWE still has yet to give Strowman a world title reign, and the Beast surely played a huge role in Strowman losing that opportunity.
