Vince McMahon is the undisputed boss when it comes to all things WWE. If a Superstar wants to make it to the top in the company, then they have to impress Vince and Triple H.

Many Superstars take this to mean that they no longer have any creative power over their character and no longer argue with any of the plans that the company decide for them.

This is one way of ensuring that you become a champion in WWE someday, but it also gains you a reputation as a brown noser, which obviously would be much worse.

Over the past few decades, many Superstars have decided to become Vince McMahon's best friend in order to get what they feel they deserve in WWE. Many of them have gone as far as to do everything Vince has requested of them, just for a chance to be one of the stand out guys for his promotion.

Times have changed slightly now and even though Vince doesn't make many TV appearances anymore, it seems that he is still running the show backstage and even the new breed of Superstar knows that if they want to make it big, they need to suck up to Vince McMahon.

15 15. Bob Backlund

via wwe.fr

Bob Backlund was recently able to return to WWE as the manager of Darren Young. As the company looked to 'Make Darren Young Great Again.' Not many WWE Hall of Famers are given this opportunity, and it seems that Vince gave the job to Bob because of all the years that Bob had loyally given to Vince.

Back when Backlund was part of WWE as a wrestler, Backlund was once the champion and he was a well-respected good guy champion for many years until the world discovered Hulk Hogan. Backlund was then pushed aside, but Vince came up with a plan to bring him back and change his persona. It was risky, but it actually worked. Backland changed everything about his character for another run as champion, much to the delight of Vince, who has obviously been his best friend ever since.

14 14. Batista

via wwe.com

How do you go from unknown curtain jerker who wears a dog collar to a member of one of the most dominant factions in WWE history? Ask Batista. It seems that much like many other smart wrestlers at this point, he became Triple H's workout buddy. Triple H puts in a good word with Vince McMahon and it seems all your troubles are over.

Batista is now a Hollywood film star, quite a jump for someone who wasn't able to get over on his own for a long time. It must be true what they say about wrestling, it's not about what you know, it's about who you know. Batista made the right friend, one that could give him everything he wanted, but what did Triple H and Vince gain in return?

13 13. Christian

via youtube.com

Well, Christian would have to have brown nosed quite a lot when it comes to Vince McMahon since it was reported that Vince hated Christian and the way he looked. Vince was quoted as saying that every time Christian came through the curtain he wanted to put a blue dot over his face. Which is slightly harsh.

Despite this obvious hate, it seems that Christian was able to win the boss over and at one point even held the ECW Championship. This was following his stint in TNA, something that Christian himself doesn't believe ever actually happened. But is seems that because he left TNA and never spoke of it or his time there again, that was enough to win Vince over and allow him to win his first big championship in WWE.

12 12. Trish Stratus

via pinterest.com

The record-breaking seven-time Women's Champion and WWE Hall of Famer definitely had a lot of pull backstage when it came to her wrestling career and she was always known to be quite close to Vince McMahon, both on and off screen. There is no doubting that at that time Trish was the best thing about that Women's Division, but was there more to it the story than that?

Trish and Vince were part of many on-screen segments together and it is thought that backstage they were just as close and were even thought to be friends, could Vince have been a big reason why Trish was able to make so much history in such a short time? Did Vince really have his favourite women as well as his favourite superstars? I guess we will never really know.

11 11. Hulk Hogan

via prowrestling.cool

Hulk Hogan is one of the most recognizable wrestlers of all time, and he didn't become that way on his own. It is thought that Hogan was so close to Vince in the 1980s that he was able to persuade him to do certain things for Hogan that were best for business.

The duo had a special kind of relationship, where Hogan attempted to act as a friend in order to gain favour with the boss, but it seems that Vince being the smart guy that he is, realized that he was being played and decided that he needed to ensure that Hogan was not bigger than the company. So he got to work dimming his light. Hogan obviously caught onto this and headed over to WCW instead, where he thought he would have much more creative control. It seems that Vince was the winner in this affair.

10 10. Chris Jericho

via youtube.com

Y2J was the first ever Undisputed WWE Champion, over the likes of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin who were much bigger stars in WWE at that point. It seems that WWE didn't make the decision to give Jericho that accolade lightly because at the time Jericho was sucking up to the entire McMahon clan.

Jericho is able to come and go from WWE as much as he wants right now as well as being able to appear at WWE Live Events whenever he pleases. And it all fits in with his Fozzy touring schedule. No other star has been given this much freedom and title runs when they return to WWE full time. It seems that Jericho definitely has a certain member of the McMahon family wrapped around his little finger, which is definitely becoming much clearer to the WWE Universe now.

9 9. Kurt Angle

via pinterest.com

Kurt Angle recently made his return to WWE after many years of being known as a TNA talent. Angle didn't leave WWE on good terms either after he stated that he needed time off to heal from many injuries. WWE would then lose one of their highest earners at that time.

It seems that even during his early career, Angle was one of McMahon's favourites. This allowed him a lot of leeway and it also meant that he was able to be pushed towards championships early on. It seems that the duo has rekindled this relationship and this has allowed Angle to return to WWE and once again be just as close to McMahon as he was before. Which is quite a strange turn about of events, but understandable in the wrestling business.

8 8. Seth Rollins

via universowrestling.com.br

There's no denying that The Architect and Triple H are very close. Seth Rollins is one of the best things that has come out of NXT in the past few years and Triple H likes to think of him as the beginning of his legacy. Rollins is just as close to Vince as well. You can't go from relatively unknown NXT star to World Champion and able to cash in at WrestleMania, without winning over the boss.

Add this to the fact that Rollins also had personal documents leaked online and was outed to be having an affair just before WrestleMania that year, something that would have halted any other stars push, but somehow Rollins moved forward unscathed. It seems that he really does have some kind of guardian angle in WWE, where Rollins can do no wrong as far as the company are concerned.

7 7. The Miz

via wrestlenewz.com

The Miz walked into WWE with no wrestling ability, only the ability to talk. And now he's one of the veterans in the company, despite rumours that he isn't a very nice person to work with and that he rubs people the wrong way backstage.

It seems that The Miz has an ally in an unlikely place, and when it was later revealed that he would be headlining WrestleMania, it became all the more obvious that The Miz was brown nosing in all the right places. The Miz has achieved so much over the past 10 years and it seems that much of it was only because of his promo ability because his wrestling ability is on-par with some good mid-carders. But let's be honest, he's nowhere near main event level.

6 6. Sheamus

via youtube.com

The Celtic Warrior chose his allies very wisely when he decided to become best friends with WWE COO Triple H. It got Sheamus into the loop and it allowed his name to be mentioned whenever WWE needed someone to step up.

Ever wonder why Sheamus was Mr Money in the Bank three years ago? Why was he able to successfully cash in that briefcase at Survivor Series, when every member of the WWE Universe knew that he would be another dull champion? Because Triple H and Vince have become fond of Sheamus and that means that Sheamus can pretty much do whatever he likes in WWE. He can even win the Tag Team Championship with a former rival, because everything makes sense when you are friends with the right people in WWE.

5 5. Kofi Kingston

via wrestlenewz.com

Kofi Kingston may not be one of the biggest stars in WWE right now, but he is one of the longest reigning Tag Team Champions of all time as part of The New Day and has had various amounts of success himself as a singles competitor.

It seems that Kofi did this by gaining McMahon's respect. In Jericho's "Best in the World" book he talks about how McMahon made a comment to Kofi on a plane ride about how he may get over one day. Kofi then took exception to this after Jericho told him to stand up for himself. This led to McMahon and Kofi wrestling around the floor of the plane and it seems that because Kofi stood up for himself. In turn, it earned McMahon's respect and has allowed the duo to become friends.

4 4. John Cena

via wrestling-edge.com

John Cena is a 16-time World Champion and the current face of WWE. There is no way that he managed to get that far in the company without brown nosing the boss slightly. There have been moments in history where it's obvious that Cena has told Vince that he will only return for a certain championship or certain match with a Superstar of his choosing.

A few years ago, Cena returned and actually won the World Heavyweight Championship upon his return to action after a lengthy absence when he underwent elbow surgery. Something that turned the heads of many of the WWE Universe and all but confirmed that if John Cena wants something then Vince McMahon will make it happen. It must be good to be on such good terms with your boss?

3 3. Shawn Micheals

via steemd.com

Shawn Michaels may well be one of the greatest performers in the history of WWE, but when we look back at his run in the 1990s and the things that he was allowed to get away with, it seems that he had a lot of help to become the star he later was.

It is reported that Michaels and McMahon were very close throughout the '90s and this is why no one believed Michaels knew nothing about The Montreal Screwjob. Vince and Shawn were in each other's pockets and it later led to a World title reign for Michaels. He was the only star who could get away with refusing storylines, not dropping titles when requested and walking out when he disagreed with someone's opinion. Michaels was a bit of a brat, but with Vince on his side, there was no one who could say anything bad about The Showstopper.

2 2. Roman Reigns

via wwe.com

Being the cousin of The Rock can't be the only reason that Roman Reigns is being given the push that he has received over the past few years. Ever since he debuted as a member of The Shield, Vince has wanted "to make Roman look strong" and it seems he has managed to accomplish that in recent years.

Roman managed to become a three-time World Champion inside six months, won the Royal Rumble, and main evented two consecutive WrestleMania events. That doesn't come from being "The Best" or because you're part of a great wrestling family (ask Natalya), that comes from sucking up to the boss and allowing him to make you part of some of his biggest decisions. The WWE Universe are well aware of it, but much like many other superstars on this list, they are powerless to do anything about it.

1 1. Triple H

via cagesideseats.com

Triple H could well be the biggest suck up off all time. Not only did he begin a relationship with the bosses daughter behind his back, when Vince specifically told both Hunter and Stephanie that he would never approve of their romance, but he has actually managed to become a part owner of WWE as well.

Triple H has somehow managed to win Vince over by becoming the son that he always wanted Shane to be. Triple H is in control of all things WWE when Vince isn't available and he is also the father of Vince's grandkids. At some point, Triple H must have won the elder McMahon over, because he married his daughter and he's running his company. So it seems that right now the duo are as thick as thieves.
