It's been over two months since Cain Velasquez joined WWE on the Oct. 4 episode of SmackDown Live, and fans are anxiously awaiting his next match.

The former UFC star made his WWE in-ring debut at the Oct. 31 Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - where Velasquez quickly lost to Brock Lesnar in a WWE Championship match.

Velasquez recently scored his first win in WWE at the Nov. 30 event in Mexico City, where he and Humberto Carrillo worked together and defeated Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson in a tag team showdown.

But the fans who are hoping to see Velasquez wrestle again in the near future will be disappointed. According to WWE insider Brad Shepard, there aren't any "committed dates" for Velasquez right now.

It's widely believed that Velasquez's match with Lesnar at Crown Jewel lasted a mere 2:10 because the former needs knee surgery, and WWE was looking to protect him. That could be a reason why the company doesn't have any plans for him in the short-term future.

The 2020 Royal Rumble is just over a month away now, and it's certainly possible that Velasquez could be involved in it. Winning the 30-man rumble would easily set up a potential rematch against Lesnar at WrestleMania 36, after all.

It was recently reported by Alex McCarthy of talkSport.com that WWE is considering both Velasquez and Tyson Fury as opponents for Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa Bay. Velasquez defeated Lesnar at UFC 121, so they could build up a potential WrestleMania showdown as a "rubber match," according to McCarthy.

We'll See Velasquez Sooner Rather Than Later

WWE has plenty of time to build up Velasquez's next match, especially if it's going to be a showdown against Lesnar at WrestleMania. Obviously, fans are anxious and want to see him as much as possible. But all good things take time, and Velasquez should make an appearance within the next couple of months in order to prepare for his next match.
