Former MMA star Cain Velasquez is set for a WWE debut at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia this Thursday and will be facing WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a title match.

Velasquez was the second fighter to beat Lesnar in UFC competition some years back, and the pair will face each other in a WWE ring for the first time when the bell goes at the King Fahd Arena in Riyadh.

Sitting down for an interview with The New York Post alongside Rey Mysterio ahead of the PPV, Velasquez discussed the in-ring style he will be using against Brock. The Los Angeles native's AAA wrestling debut earlier this year put him on display in a mask, wrestling luchador style. However, it won't be what he calls upon this week.

“Taking the match to the MMA side now is my strong suit and that’s what I have to do,” he said.” But still learning the game, the WWE style as well.”

Given that he's now contracted to WWE, the erstwhile MMA fighter is in for the long haul. He plans to mix all of his fighting techniques to create a unique style when he's had more minutes under his belt.

“I think in the future for me when I get a little more comfortable with this is to incorporate everything, everything that you can do in combat sports, the MMA, the WWE style of wrestling and also adding the lucha in there as well," he explained.

Mysterio is apparently a huge fan and has tipped his new best friend to wow the WWE Universe soon enough.

“For those who don’t know who he is, they will soon find out who he is because what he brought into the octagon every time he stepped in there is gonna be 10 times better when he gets in a WWE ring and faces Brock Lesnar for the first time,” the future WWE Hall of Famer declared.

Who Knows How Far This Goes?

As much as he's going to be around for a while, Velasquez has admitted that he isn't really looking past his debut. If he manages to win the championship, though, things could start moving along pretty quickly.

If nothing else, this match is likely going to be an interesting one. Whether WWE will have Velasquez named WWE Championship in his first match is something that's left to be seen. But we just want to see an entertaining brawl.
