Cesaro Received Backstage Ovation At No Mercy

Cesaro received a standing ovation when he got backstage at No Mercy following the injury he suffered to his lip and front teeth.

WWE No Mercy has come and gone for another year, and for the most part, the pay-per-view was a huge success. Not only were the two WrestleMania caliber matches both extremely noteworthy, but the rest of the card also lived up to the hype. One match in particular that entertained was the Tag Team Championship bout between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose and Sheamus and Cesaro.

While the match itself was great, the wrestling action alone wasn't what made it memorable. As the action was picking up, Ambrose catapulted Cesaro into the ring post with a little too much vigor. The Swiss Cyborg hit the top of the post mouth first and when he turned around, he appeared to have lost two teeth. The teeth were actually knocked up into his jaw, either way, it looked nasty.

Despite the injury, the match continued and Cesaro actually managed to compete at the same level he normally would for ten more minutes. The fans appreciated it, and apparently so did the staff and Superstars backstage. Former WWE Superstar Matt Morgan helped break down the action from No Mercy on the Wrestling Inc podcast. He revealed that someone he knows in WWE told him Cesaro received a standing ovation from his peers in the back.

Cesaro's ability to power through and finish the match is a credit to how tough and how professional the European Superstar is. Not only that, but he also accompanied Sheamus to the ring 24 hours later on Raw. At some point this week though, he will have to undergo a dental procedure to remove the affected teeth and replace them with implants. He also had to have a few stitches in his bottom lip.

Standing ovations from WWE employees watching in the back are naturally a rare thing and something that Superstars strive for. They normally come on the back of an incredible match, but it was quite rightly warranted for the grit and determination Cesaro demonstrated at No Mercy.
