"The great thing about [WWE] is we can change on a dime. We can put it in a different direction, and if people don't like something, just keep watching [because] we are probably going to get you there. We are probably going to get you to a place that works for everyone. That is the intent.”

That declaration above seems to be the main difference between Triple H and Vince McMahon. Hunter listens to what the people want while Vince gets bashed for staying in his own bubble and remaining insistent on what’s best for the WWE in terms of a business as opposed to the actual on-screen product. There simply is no denying WWE’s current success from a revenue standpoint. The company is hotter than ever with its stock absolutely flourishing. McMahon’s changes have a lot to do with that. Starting his own network and becoming a family friendly program opened doors the company could have never imagined both worldwide and with networks such as Fox.

However, like other companies not everything is perfect - with the WWE its far from it especially in terms of what we see on-screen. In this article we look at both subtle and drastic changes that might take shape once Hunter’s in charge. In some instances, we’ll use recent quotations from The Game himself. On the flip side, we’ll diagnose certain aspects that might stay the same. For some it’s a “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” type of deal.

Enjoy the article folks and like always be sure to share it with a friend. Without further ado here are 11 discussed changes Triple H wants to make once he’s in charge and 9 that’ll stay the same. Time to play the game! Let’s begin!

20 Changes – A New Team Behind The Scenes

via aminoapps.com

According to the Wrestling Observer, it’s going to be a different atmosphere behind the scenes once Triple H takes over. An immediate change that is set to take place will feature Hunter bringing along a new team of producers. Among the two names currently in the conversation are former TNA employees Jeremy Borash and James Long.

Both are currently helping Hunter down in NXT. However once it’s time to make the jump both are reportedly set to join The Game as important faces backstage. With the XFL set to debut in 2020, this may take shape sooner rather than later.

19 Stay The Same - Different Entrance Designs

via wrestling-edge.com

Year after year, Triple H arguably has the best entrance come WrestleMania time. That said, you would think Hunter isn’t all that pleased when it comes to the WWE’s inability to change entrance sets for different PPVs, like most fans are. Nowadays the company keeps the same stage show after show, PPV after PPV. A lot of this has to do with costs, keeping the standards crisp and catering to high definition doesn’t come cheap.

Hunter won’t change this mentality. The Game admits he’s a simple guy who puts more of his focus on what goes on in the ring than the glitz and glamour involved beforehand. That’s quite evident with NXT as the brand keeps the same stage during TakeOver and weekly events, while also using minimal lighting effects.

18 Changes - Cross-Promotion Matchups

via caq.fr

Recently, Chris Jericho pitched the idea of having a cross-promotion match at SummerSlam. We could have seen the New Japan title holder take on WWE’s IC Champion Seth Rollins. Perhaps had Triple H been in charge this could have come to fruition.

Hunter isn’t afraid of working with other promotions, unlike his father-in-law who tends to stick to his own guys.

Triple H is already deploying this tactic. We’ve seen the likes of Adam Cole and Pete Dunne show up with their championships outside of a WWE ring. Kassius Ohno is another example of a wrestler to compete outside of NXT recently. Look for this to increase once Hunter leads the way.

17 Stay The Same - Hollywood Writers

via prowrestlingstories.com

This one might anger WWE fans, however it’s irrational to believe that all Hollywood writers will be disposed of once Triple H grabs the reigns. Although Vince gets a lot of heat for the writers he hires, let’s not forget it was his daughter Stephanie, aka Triple H’s wife, that ushered in this new system. Her feeling back in the early 2000s was that bookers that admired pro wrestling showed too much bias. Stephanie’s goal was to create equality while making WWE programming feel more like a show. Clearly results have been mixed since the change got the green light.

Hunter is likely to change lots of the writers backstage. However don’t expect all Hollywood type writers to be shown the door. After all, WWE wants that Emmy!

16 Changes – Less Talk, Less Scripts & More Action

via instagram.com

NXT tends to feel different in comparison to the main roster. A lot of that has to do with the art of the promo. On the main roster, opening promo segments usually take up at least a quarter of the first hour. It also doesn’t help that performers are literally reciting lines word for word. NXT uses a different mentality.

Promos tend to be a lot smoother, while the length is cut short and usually straight to the point. Clearly Hunter is all about action and less about promos. He knows what the people want - look for this to take shape once he’s in charge. The beauty of this is that when the wrestlers pick up a microphone, it’ll actually mean something.

15 Stay The Same - 1 Hour NXT Program

via youtube.com

With NXT potentially moving to FS1 with the new Fox deal, Hunter was asked about changing the format of the program to a two hour show. Although that sounds great for most fans, Hunter admits he has no plans on changing the length of the NXT program. He discusses the issue with ESPN;

"There are times when I look at NXT and part of me loves the hour format because everybody's got busy lives. By the time you get to Wednesday ... if you're a huge fan, by the time you get to Wednesday, you've watched five hours of WWE, and then you're watching NXT. And that's if you didn't watch '205 Live.' There's a lot out there. There's a fine line between that and leaving them wanting more, so it's a balance."

14 Changes – Shorter RAW

via wwe.com

Triple H is more of a “less is more” type of dude. That’s the opposite of Vince, who tries to give the fans as much as possible on a weekly basis. Look for that to change once Hunter’s in charge. He admits a three hour Raw is not only tough to watch for fans, but just as brutal to book behind the scenes;

“I think at the end of the day, three hours no matter how you do it is extremely difficult. I’ll be the first guy to admit that if I got to a movie and it’s longer than two hours, then I’m looking at my watch, no matter how good it is.”

13 Stay The Same - Global Expansion

via instagram.com

It is truly remarkable to see how much the WWE continues to expand globally. Just looking at 2018, WWE has entered markets they could have never dreamed of such as Saudi Arabia and Shanghai. This won’t change with Triple H in charge, as like his father-in-law The Game understands the importance of growing the brand on a worldwide scale.

It also helps that his wife is in charge of growing the WWE’s reputation globally as the acting Brand Ambassador. The expansion will continue without Vince as the WWE continues to enter new markets outside of North America.

12 Changes - Women’s Tag Titles

via mirror.co.uk

With the women’s divisions constantly expanding, a rumor suggests Women’s Tag Titles might be on the way. However this has been rumored for the longest time and we're still waiting for the championships to debut.

Hunter is the driving force when it comes to all developments pertaining to women’s wrestling. We expect that to continue when The Game grabs the head seat atop the WWE. It also helps that he loves the idea of including the championships on the program (unlike Vince who hates tag team wrestling):

“The idea that women’s wrestling doesn’t have a cutoff point in the mind of one of the guys running the company — and, for lack of less punny phrasing, changing the game — is a relief. Sure, there can be women’s tag titles. Why not? There can be women’s anything.”

11 Changes – More Performance Centers

via wwe.com

We can all thank Triple H for the PC. Hunter was one step ahead as he saw a decline on the indie scene years ago. The Game knew WWE needed a stronger source to develop talent and out came the Performance Center, which continues to work wonders.

Being a global brand look for The Game to expand the PC worldwide once he takes over;

“We’re recruiting globally, finding stars around the world,” said Levesque. “WWE is this global product that is seen everywhere and has massive appeal, almost on a level where there is nothing quite like that.”

Among the areas of interest include a Performance Center in the UK. Plans are already in motion for a PC in India and Dubai as well.

10 Stay The Same - Mainstream Attention

via instagram.com

At times this is one of the harshest criticisms when it comes to Vince McMahon's booking mentality. The billion dollar owner shows a great deal of interest when it comes to gaining mainstream exposure. Heck the match rumored to headline the women’s Evolution event is all about media attention. It features WWE’s most popular women outside of the company, Nikki Bella and Ronda Rousey. Vince is no fool when it comes to the potential in growing this match with various mainstream outlets.

Hunter won’t stay in his bubble either. The Game knows how important it is to create a relationship with other platforms, such as ESPN. We assume the amount of celebrities might decrease however catering to the mainstream will still have its place.

9 Changes - Longer Matches

via wwe.com

Let’s compare PPV match lengths for a second. This past SummerSlam featured four main card matches under seven minutes, with two of them being no longer than two minutes. As for the TakeOver event, the shortest match of the night was for the Women’s Championship lasting a near 14 minutes.

The main event between TakeOver Brooklyn IV and SummerSlam also had a huge time gap of 26 minutes. The Lesnar/Roman bout went just over six minutes while Gargano and Ciampa neared 34 minutes. Clearly Hunter is all about telling stories in the ring while Vince appreciates quantity over quality. Look for this to change for the better once Hunter grabs the lead.

8 Stay The Same – Abundance Of WWE Programming Per Week

via wrestlingnewssource.com

Remember when people laughed at Vince McMahon for starting his own network and giving away PPVs for free? Well, those same people aren’t laughing as much with PPVs on the decline. McMahon tends to be a step ahead of the trends and with PPV declining, McMahon’s network subscription instead continue to increase.

That said, the hours of programming per week have become necessary. Even Hunter’s NXT is set to increase their TakeOver specials for 2019. The WWE will continue to expand with hours of programming for the network – that won’t change. When you factor in Fox as well, it’s really the more the better. Also network specials might increase with the company searching for an Emmy nod.

7 Change – Managers/Tag Teams

via medium.com

Vince continues to have an outdated mindset when it comes to managers and tag teams. For whatever reason, McMahon tends to overlook both these factors. There’s a reason why SmackDown and NXT’s tag divisions are much better than Raw or SmackDown's. A lot of that has to do with McMahon not being involved. In fact with NXT, teams like Undisputed Era and Mustache Mountain have been caught stealing the TakeOver shows on a number of occasions. Clearly McMahon’s missing out, but that’ll change with Hunter involved.

The same goes for managers as McMahon as completely squandered the role in recent years. There’s room for managers and we’ll see improvements in that area once Triple H rules all.

6 Stay The Same - WWE As The Only Major Player

via instagram.com

Vince has a lot of faults and clearly we’ve shed a light on lots of them in this article. However, what fans cannot deny is the way he’s turned WWE into a massive empire and one that can’t face any type of competition due to their stranglehold globally. Heck, Chris Jericho stated that McMahon offered to help Cody with his All In event! Clearly he isn’t sweating competition.

That won’t change once Triple H gets a hold of the company. Instead, look for Hunter to build relationships with other brands. As we suggested earlier, Hunter will continue expanding the WWE globally. That’ll only further their stranglehold on the competition.

5 Change - Forming Relationships With Other Wrestling Companies

via reddit.com

Whether it be Progress or ICW, Hunter isn’t afraid to form a relationship with another wrestling company. He’s even appeared on both shows in the past. Hunter discussed the benefits of forming relationships with other brands during his interview with The Sun;

"We have an alliance with PROGRESS in the UK, a situation with ICW in Scotland, two very well run and respected promotions that do good business – but more importantly they are cultivating talent. They are not just exploiting talent and grabbing guys to do a show with them, they are teaching talent and trying to make them better, which is what it is all about for me.”

4 Stay The Same - PG Rating

via al-rasub.com

Although it has hurt the on-screen product, the sad reality is that the new family friendly rating as opened more doors for the WWE than ever before. Becoming a global brand and achieving various new partnerships the company has seen their stocks fly to unimaginable heights in 2018. That doesn’t happen without a family friendly mind-set.

With that in mind, Hunter won’t hurt the company’s reputation by changing things up with edgier content. In fact, Triple H has found success with NXT while staying between the lines of the PG era. Like Chris Jericho says, wrestlers can still be great in a PG era - it’s all about creativity, an aspect Hunter flourishes in.

3 Change – More Tournaments

via stillrealtous.com

Compared to Triple H, McMahon isn’t the biggest advocate for a classic tournament style PPV or episode of Raw or SmackDown. King of the Ring used to be considered a top PPV, but it's been thrown away now. It launched the careers of both Stone Cold and Triple H himself. However, McMahon decided against this philosophy in the recent years.

Hunter’s definitely bringing it back. The reason for all the excitement surrounding the Cruiserweights was due to the success of the Cruiserweight Classic. Hunter has also done a fine job with the Mae Young Classic and the second tournament just finished shooting. We’ll definitely see lots more tournaments when the current boss makes way for The Game.

2 Stay The Same - Roman As The Guy

via wwe.com

Fans would love to see Triple H dethrone Roman once he gets the top position in the company. However, we don’t expect that to take place. Hunter is high on Roman - heck he went out of his way to try and put the guy over during WrestleMania 32. Hunter also believes Roman’s the very best the company has to offer at the moment;

“Roman is one of the most skilled performers bar none in the WWE right now and that is on every level. I think he is one of the best that the WWE have right now," he told The National newspaper.

1 Change – Reviving WCW Concepts

via twitter.com

When it comes to WCW programming or anything related, Vince does his absolute best to stay away from anything related to it. For the most part, McMahon uses the wrestling promotion as a form to downgrade their existence. Triple H has taken a difference stance however.

Not only has Hunter hired various faces from the former promotion backstage, but he’s also not afraid to use WCW concepts that succeeded such as War Games. Hunter is also no fool in realizing the importance of a faction, another WCW concept Vince tends to steer away from. If it’s best for business, Hunter might just implement it - even if it is a WCW idea.
