In a surprising mistake of marketing, it looks like WWE spoiled the results of the SmackDown Women’s title match between Natalya and Charlotte Flair.
On last Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, Shane McMahon announced that Natalya would defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship belt against Charlotte Flair the following week. Natalya was none too pleased with it either.
After accusing McMahon of playing favorites and saying Charlotte gets far too many chances for her title, Natalya storms off in a huff. It looks like her words might have hit close to the mark since now WWE has released promotional images for Survivor Series that don’t have Natalya in them at all.
The poster instead shows Charlotte Flair on the side of team SmackDown, clearly implying that she’ll be the title holder by the time Survivor Series hits on Nov. 19, 2017. Since Survivor Series is a battle between champions, the fact Natalya can’t be seen is a clear indicator that she’s going to lose her title come next Tuesday.
Some might say it’s possible that WWE has produced promotional imagery for either outcome, given how close to Survivor Series the title match will be, but it doesn’t seem likely.
If the outcome is decided (and that picture gives us plenty of reason to think it might be), then it’ll be the first time Charlotte and Alexa Bliss will meet in the ring since their NXT days back in 2014. Back then, Charlotte defeated both Bliss and Natalya to become the NXT Women’s Champion at NXT TakeOver.
Even though we already know who wins, the title match next Tuesday on SmackDown Live should be a lot of fun to watch, as we’ll see Charlotte finally get to take down the trash-talking Natalya.
Survivor Series is shaping up to be a climactic duel of wrestling titans, with Brock Lesnar facing off against AJ Styles for the main event. Styles has become one of WWE’s biggest draws since his debut, according to YouTube viewership, and setting up the dream match between the superstars is sure to add an extra spice to the pay-per-view event.
