The way Chris Jericho talks about WWE these days, one would never imagine him returning to the company that made him a star. That said, based on recent comments the AEW Champion made, is the door completely closed?

During an interview with The Aquarian, the face of AEW suggested there's always a chance he could make a return to WWE. He noted that he prefers AEW because he's part of something where he's helping build nothing into something but anything is possible as far as his career goes. He said, "I could go back to WWE tomorrow and I know exactly where I’d stand. I prefer being here."

He described AEW as being a company with no limits and Jericho, among others, have been critical of WWE's booking style and forcing Superstars to adhere to the writing that is provided for them. He said of AEW, "There’s no limits. It’s uncharted waters. We don’t even know what’s going to happen from day to day at AEW."

Whether or not Jericho would be welcomed back by WWE is another story. Logically, if Vince McMahon could grab the biggest star from the company and hurt AEW in the process, he would. But, Jericho has been quite vocal about being pro-AEW and his bashing of WWE since he left hasn't gone unnoticed. Any return would be well into the future.

What Happens In Two Years For Jericho?

Jericho has a three-year deal with AEW so what he does after that is very much up in the air. And, being the opportunist Jericho is, should AEW struggle in any way, it wouldn't be a shock to see him jump ship and move to the company that offers him the best option. For now, he feels that opportunity is in AEW where "fans like an alternative."

Currently, Jericho is embroiled in the start of a feud with Jon Moxley who also bailed on WWE for AEW.
