Chris Jericho has become one of the most respected legends in wrestling history, thanks to an extremely successful career. The start of Jericho’s run in the early 90s featured many doubters believing his size would hold him back. Jericho persevered and became a huge superstar; his charismatic personality and tremendous in-ring skills making Jericho a wrestler that fans of all styles could appreciate.

One factor that added to Jericho’s legacy is that he often stood up for himself, especially during a tougher time in the 90s. Jericho made quite a few enemies throughout his career with fellow big names disliking him, including the recent war of words with Matt Riddle. On the other side, there were also many more stories of Jericho developing close bonds that lasted for many decades. Both will be shared here.

10 Had beef with: Goldberg

The WCW run of Chris Jericho provided great matches and promos, but he never got the chance to showcase his true potential. WCW didn't him to work outside of the mid-card or cruiserweight picture until a short feud with Goldberg.

Jericho played his obnoxious heel act and called out Goldberg, which created great entertainment. Goldberg, however, refused to have a real match with Jericho. The two men would see their bad blood reach a boiling point when they had a fight in WWE years later, which Jericho won by all accounts.

9 Always loved: Lance Storm

Lance Storm and Chris Jericho broke into the wrestling business together in Canada. They were the only successful graduates from their training school, working together as the Thrillseekers tag team in the early years of their respective careers.

Jericho eventually found bigger success as a singles star, but that didn’t slow down their friendship. Both men had respected careers and remained close throughout it all. Jericho even invited Storm to sit ringside at Madison Square Garden for his 25th anniversary match on a WWE event.

8 Had beef with: Larry Zbyszko

One of the strangest instances of drama for Chris Jericho’s career would see him have heat with WCW announcer Larry Zbyszko. The wrestling career of Zbyszko was respected, but he often buried wrestlers on commentary. Jericho called him the worst commentator ever in his first autobiography.

Their issues would get worse when Jericho started using the moniker “Living Legend” for his heel character in WWE. Zbyszko sued Jericho and WWE claiming it was his nickname, based on the WCW commentary team referring to him as such. Jericho and Zbyszko clearly never had much love for each other before or after working together.

7 Always loved: The Rock

The Rock was one of the first few top names to become friends with Chris Jericho in WWE. Between his books and podcast, Jericho has revealed many times that wrestlers like Triple H and The Undertaker had problems with him during the first few years in the company.

Luckily for Jericho, one important wrestler enjoyed working with him. The Rock was the one to be interrupted by Jericho in his incredible debut. They worked together again in 2001 for superb matches, with Jericho scoring some of the biggest victories of his career against Rock at his peak.

6 Had beef with: Scott Hall

The reputation of Scott Hall in WCW made him one of the most hated men in the wrestling industry. Hall often bullied the younger wrestlers in the WCW locker room. Chris Jericho claimed Hall often insulted Jericho and demanded he stop wrestling long matches on house shows.

Their issues reached a boiling point when Meng told Jericho to stand up for himself in the locker room. Jericho’s story claimed that Hall backed down, in true bully fashion, when Jericho confronted him asking if he wanted to fight.

5 Always loved: Dean Malenko

The workhorses of WCW in the cruiserweight division became close friends. Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit all had a connection during the WCW years, given their identical stories of traveling the world to land this opportunity.

Malenko and Jericho would lose the other two, along with many other close friends, at young ages. Jericho has stated he wants to have a photo with Malenko in all his book releases after losing the other two. They are still close friends working together in AEW today, after Malenko joined as a producer.

4 Had beef with: Triple H

Triple H was one of the first main enemies of Chris Jericho during his early years in WWE. Many of the WCW wrestlers to make the move were treated with a lack of respect by the established WWE performers. Triple H and Jericho had issues from the start as documented in Jericho’s book.

In one memorable story, Jericho asked Triple H for directions to the venue. Triple H responded by stating he knew how to get there and that was to find a map. The two became friends in recent years. Jericho revealed they had no idea why they hated each other in the first place, as they have the same shared interests in and out of the ring.

3 Always loved: Edge

The Canadian bond between Chris Jericho and Edge made them friends right away when Jericho joined WWE. Both were relatively young and trying to work their way to the top of the card. They always enjoyed working together, from the early days to their time as legends.

Edge’s appearance on Jericho’s podcast inspired him to start his own, with Christian. One regret from both men’s careers is that they were not able to have a long run together as the WWE Tag Team Champions, since Edge suffered an injury right after winning it.

2 Had beef with: Brock Lesnar

Chris Jericho’s fearless nature was proven in the most intense way possible when he almost got into a fight with Brock Lesnar. The infamous main event of Summerslam 2016 featured Lesnar bloodying Randy Orton with some of the most vicious hits ever thrown in a WWE ring.

Jericho was not pleased with the reckless nature of Brock, confronting him when he returned backstage. The scene was described as volatile, with Brock asking if Jericho wanted to kiss him in sarcastic fashion before Vince McMahon broke it up.

1 Always loved: Rey Mysterio

Rey Mysterio’s friendship with Chris Jericho would see both men have paralleled careers. They traveled the world and became friends before landing jobs in WCW. Jericho claimed he thought Mysterio was a child when they met for the first time in Mexico, due to his baby face and smaller stature.

WCW underutilized both men, which just brought them closer together as they had some of the most impressive (albeit under-appreciated) matches in company history. Jericho and Mysterio each became legends in WWE and worked together on many occasions. The 2009 feud with Mysterio is considered one of the best feuds of Jericho’s career.
