Chris Jericho and independent wrestling star Kenny Omega have been at each other over the past few days. It started when someone suggested Omega was the best wrestler in the world and Jericho responded, not only is Omega not the best in the world, he's not the best in Winnipeg.

Omega responded with, "Well jeez, what can I say? Never meet your heroes, folks, lest they be a corporate stooge."

Both Jericho and Omega are Canadian wrestlers and both hail originally from Winnipeg. Jericho is a part-time WWE wrestler but a WWE guy for life. Omega is a budding independent star who specifically chose to stay away from the biggest promotion in the world. When two wrestlers with such opposing views get on social media, sparks often fly.

Most thought the exchange was just a case of two wrestlers who knew each other having some fun with each other, and that may be what this is, but the social media war has raged on as recently Jericho and Omega were at it again.

A fan who had sided with Jericho made a comment about Omega having never appeared at a WrestleMania. Omega had a comeback, suggesting that it didn't matter as he was "just the guy having those 6-star classics you keep hearing about."

Tagging Jericho in the post, Jericho responded noting that Omega's matches are great, but no one gets to see them because he's not in the WWE.

That may not be necessarily true as the Internet finds a way to share Omega's matches and it's become the primary reason he's such a hot commodity in wrestling right now. But, Jericho has a point in that for Omega to really showcase his talents, he could stand to have the marketing power of the WWE behind him.

Is Jericho right? Would Omega benefit by coming to the WWE? Or, is Omega right? WWE has shown in the past an unwillingness to do the right thing for wrestlers of Omega's style. The freedom Omega has to put on these 6-star matches might not be there in the WWE where things move faster and matches are shorter.

In the end, this might be nothing more than two wrestlers using social media to promote a Cruise Jericho is hosting in October of 2018. ROH is scheduled to be holding a tournament there and it could lead to a Jericho and Omega confrontation.
