Chris Jericho may have only just wrestled Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12, but there are already rumors he will be in the Royal Rumble.

It was the match the pro wrestling world has been talking about for months now. Chris Jericho vs Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12. The bout has now happened and it was every bit as awesome and epic as you would have expected. Despite rumors that Y2J might capture the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship from The Cleaner, that didn't happen and it was Omega who emerged from the Tokyo Dome victorious.

Now that his match with Omega is done and dusted, fans are already speculating as to what is next for the almost 30-year veteran. Hopefully, he and his Wrestle Kingdom opponent will have a rematch in the not so distant future although many will undoubtedly be hoping that Jericho returns to WWE sooner rather than later. With a Fozzy gig booked on April 8, 2018, though we probably won't be seeing the six-time World Champion at WrestleMania 34.

Rumor has it though that we might see Jericho back in WWE long before then. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer speculated on Twitter that Y2J being a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble is a possibility. The 30 man over-the-top-rope match is one that is built on surprise entrants and Jericho being a part of it would certainly be a big one.

One big problem with the last few Royal Rumbles has been the predictability of who is going to win the match. That's one reason why some fans might not want Jericho to be a part of it. Although it would be great to see him back in a WWE ring so soon after competing in New Japan, it would be one more spot taken up by somebody you know has no chance of winning.

We must point out that this is all merely speculation on behalf of Meltzer of course. Fozzy is supposed to be joining metal band Steel Panther on their European tour in January and depending on which date Jericho and his band will join the festivities may very well kill these Royal Rumble rumors. Rest assured though, Chris Jericho will compete in a WWE ring again, even if it isn't necessarily any time soon.
