Throughout the 32 years of its existence, the Royal Rumble match has introduced multiple talented superstars to the world. While some of them went on to make a name for themselves after winning it all, some had equally impressive careers despite not winning the 30-man contest.

Chris Jericho is one of those superstars who have never won the Royal Rumble but still had a successful in-ring career in the WWE. The current AEW World Champion had an impactful career with the largest pro-wrestling promotion in the world.

Chris Jericho's most underwhelming performance in a Royal Rumble match came in the 2010 event. He entered the match on the 28th spot and didn't get even a single elimination to his name.

Jericho's time in the match came to an end at the hands of his former tag team partner Edge, who made a surprise appearance returning from an injury and turned out to be the eventual winner.

Y2J spent only 02:24 in the match as he got overwhelmed by the returning Edge as soon as he entered the contest.

10 Greatest Royal Rumble - 2018

The WWE Universe got to witness two Royal Rumble events in 2018, with the second one taking place at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, under the name Greatest Royal Rumble with 50 superstars competing in the titular match.

Chris Jericho didn't have a very successful outing even after entering as the last superstar into the contest. He spent only 03:18 in the ring, with his only elimination being Shelton Benjamin.

Y2J got tossed over the top rope by the eventual winner Braun Strowman as the match would mark his final appearance for WWE before jumping to AEW.

9 Royal Rumble 2000

Chris Jericho's first appearance in a Royal Rumble match came at the titular event in 2000, and Y2J failed to make an impression after lasting only for 3:47.

Jericho entered as the 15th entrant into the match and looked to make a name for himself in his first attempt at main eventing WrestleMania. He managed to toss Bob Backlund over the top rope in the short time he spent in the ring, but it would be his only elimination in the match.

He would eventually get eliminated by Chyna, whom he had defeated earlier the same night in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship.

8 Royal Rumble 2012

Chris Jericho had all the advantages heading into the ring in the 2012 Royal Rumble match, entering as the 29th entrant. He managed to get two eliminations in David Otunga and Randy Orton but still fell short in picking up the victory.

Y2J spent only 14:58 in the match, before getting eliminated by Chris Benoit, who would turn out to be the winner. Jericho did manage to salvage some pride after winning the Intercontinental Title for a record 7th time in his career and made up for his 2004 woes.

6 Royal Rumble 2005

Chris Jericho had the unfortunate privilege of entering in the earlier slots in most of the Royal Rumbles he competed. He suffered the same fate in 2005 when he drew the number 11 and entered the match with 19 other superstars to follow.

3 Royal Rumble 2016

Chris Jericho had an extended run in WWE from 2016 until his departure, and he kicked off his full-time in-ring return with an amazing performance at the 2016 Royal Rumble match.

The 2016 Royal Rumble match had a different stipulation as it was not for a spot in the WrestleMania 32 main event, but instead, Roman Reigns defended the WWE Championship in the match.

Y2J entered as the 6th entrant and managed to survive for an impressive 50:47. However, he managed to get only one elimination by throwing Kofi Kingston over the top rope before getting eliminated himself at the hands of Dean Ambrose.

2 Royal Rumble 2017

The 2017 event would turn out to be Chris Jericho's last appearance in a proper Royal Rumble match. He entered the match as the 2nd entrant and was also the reigning United States Champion.

He spent some time outside the ring away from all the action but rolled back right in time to eliminate both Sheamus & Cesaro simultaneously. Jericho lasted until the final four in the match, before getting eliminated by Roman Reigns ending his hour-long valiant effort.
