Ever since CM Punk joined WWE Backstage on Fox Sports 1, fans have been clamoring for the former World Champion to make a return to the ring.

So far, there aren't many indicators that Punk is truly interested in doing so, and Triple H recently stated that they haven't had talks about bringing him back. For now, any talks about CM Punk returning to wrestling are nothing more than rumors.

If CM Punk returns to the ring, who could he possibly go up against? Well, many have hoped for a potential dream match against WWE Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, even though he's been retired from wrestling for 17 years.

But unfortunately for WWE fans, CM Punk doesn't seem to have any interest whatsoever in doing a match against The Texas Rattlesnake.

A fan took to Twitter and asked fans to retweet if they'd like to see Punk vs. Austin at the upcoming WWE event in Saudi Arabia, and to "like" if they'd rather not.

Sportskeeda.com was able to capture a screenshot of Punk "liking" the Tweet, suggesting he has no interest whatsoever in going up against the former face of WWE.

The Texas Rattlesnake has emphasized time and time again that he won't be coming out of retirement do do one more match. However, CM Punk turned heads several months ago when he admitted that a match against Austin almost happened.

Even if fans never get the Punk vs. Austin dream match, they'll at least be happy if we get to see the former make an illustrious return to the ring. Having Punk join WWE Backstage is a nice start, but there's plenty of work to do in getting him back to the WWE.

Will We See CM Punk Return To The Ring?

For what it's worth, Punk stated in a recent Reddit AMA that in order to return to WWE, it'd "have to be a very big bag." Many interpreted that as being a large quantity of money, which Vince would hopefully have no problem handing out. We've seen the WWE chairman make amends with many superstars who left on bitter circumstances before (Hulk Hogan, Bobby Lashley, Ultimate Warrior and many more). There's plenty of reason to be optimistic about a Punk return, although it's anybody's guess when it would happen.
