John Morrison has re-signed with WWE, and CM Punk decided to take the opportunity to fire a fresh shot at his new pal Seth Rollins.

More than two months ago, it was rumored that John Morrison had signed a new contract with WWE. It has been eight years since Morrison last competed for WWE. In that time he has been working the independent circuit as well as wrestling with Impact and Lucha Underground. However, Morrison claimed the rumors were unfounded.

Two months passed and fans started to believe that the rumors may well have been just that. Then, this past Tuesday night on WWE Backstage, the news was finally confirmed. Morrison has rejoined WWE. Chances are the rumors doing the rounds two months ago were a legitimate leak, but the final details had not yet been ironed out.

After the news was broken on Backstage, Morrison took to Twitter to let the world know how happy he is to be back. "I can’t wait to stand again in a WWE ring opposite the most talented people in the business," Morrison wrote as part of his tweet. That prompted CM Punk to step in and drag the re-signed Morrison into his social media beef with Seth Rollins.

Punk replied to Morrison's tweet with, "Dude, Will Ospreay is in New Japan." Morrison was clearly a big fan of the reply, hitting Punk back with a few cry-laughing emojis. Punk is obviously referencing the Twitter feud Rollins had with Ospreay earlier this year. Rollins claimed to be the best in the world at what he does, to which Ospreay took offense, and that kicked off a whole thing.

For someone who claims to have no interest in starting up an angle with Rollins, Punk sure is taking a lot of shots at the former Universal Champion. We are quickly approaching a point where if Punk doesn't return during the 2020 men's Royal Rumble match, there could well be a riot. One thing's for certain, if Punk isn't going to be in that match, we feel really sorry for whoever enters at number 30. The boos will be deafening no matter who it is.
