New WWE Backstage co-host CM Punk has revealed who he was supposed to fight at WrestleMania XXX, a pay-per-view that took place after he stopped wrestling for WWE.

Punk's split with the company was not an amicable one. The dirty laundry between the parties went out publicly early in 2014 and things would hardly improve as the wrestler would be out completely by July.

He later appeared on Colt Cabana's podcast, making some startling revelations, all while claiming he could never return to WWE. Despite his current involvement, the 41-year-old has remained true to his declaration and makes it a point to reiterate that he works for FOX and not WWE these days.

Punk shared an Instagram story this week that included a photo of an internal WWE booking sheet for WrestleMania 30 showing he was supposed to fight Triple H at the event. And, based on the date at the top of the sheet, Punk vs. The Game was still scheduled as of January 20, 2014.

The former WWE and MMA star said he had been doing a bit of cleaning when he found the booking sheet. He also showed what he claims to be the bone chips Dr. Andrews removed from his elbow back in 2010.

As we all know, Punk did not work the PPV; so Hunter fought Daniel Bryan in the second match of the show. That would lead to Bryan winning the World Heavyweight Championship as he beat The Game to qualify for a Triple Threat match against Randy Orton and Batista, going on to win the belt via submission.

Punk's exit was one of the contributing factors where Bryan's WWE success is concerned but who knows what could have been had things worked out and he was the one who'd faced Triple H at WrestleMania 30?

That Kinda Clears Up A Lot

Bryan was initially scheduled to face Sheamus while Roman Reigns was set for a fight with Dean Ambrose - now Jon Moxley - for the United States Championship.

The former WWE champ recently revealed being disappointed over the fact that he never got to face Punk in a WrestleMania setting and hopes to see him back in the ring eventually. Funnily enough, Triple H is the betting favorite to be Punk's next opponent.

Perhaps the most telling thing about all of this, though, is that it debunks claims that Bryan's WrestleMania 30 booking had been decided since SummerSlam the previous year.
