CM Punk has revealed that he hasn't heard back from FOX since his interview for studio show WWE Backstage.

The former WWE star had confirmed discussing a role on the show with the network a few weeks ago, making it clear that he would be working for FS1 and not WWE if he did get the job. But a report from Fightful is claiming that, while the Backstage team was impressed with Punk's interview, FOX has moved on from the prospect of hiring him.

Punk was recently a guest on Barstool Sports My Mom's Basement and revealed that he did audition after FOX asked him to come in while he was in Los Angeles, but he hasn't been contacted since.

“I did the FOX thing, they asked me to come out and I was already in LA, so I went into the FOX studios. I guess you could call it an audition? I haven’t heard a thing. I was told WWE wasn’t involved, but who knows? It could be why I haven’t heard anything yet," he said.

According to Fightful Select, FOX seems to have cooled their interest in Punk. They did note that no solid decision had been reached, however.

"Punk's tryout went well and he impressed the [WWE] Backstage team, but it was left in the hands of higher ups at FOX," the report reads. "[It] seemed like they'd moved on as recently as this week. Nothing is concrete in that regard, though."

The former wrestler and MMA fighter also revealed having told FOX officials he wouldn't be there just to "s**t on everything."

Does That Mean He Might Be Wrestling Again Soon?

Punk recently claimed that he's "absolutely" open to returning to the ring but just hasn't been approached the right way.

So, the door isn't shut on that end and it sure seems like we could see him wrestling again by next year for the latest, given his recent revelation.
