Cody Rhodes opponent at AEW's Double Or Nothing will be his brother Dustin Rhodes, better known as WWE's Goldust.

AEW's first ever event, Double Or Nothing is fast approaching. With a little more than a month go before the new promotion descends on Las Vegas, the card is finally beginning to fill up. We've known for a while that Chris Jericho will be having his long-awaited rematch with Kenny Omega, and also that Hangman Page will take on Pac.

As great as those matches will undoubtedly be, the biggest bout for the event to date was announced this weekend. Cody Rhodes admitted on the Jim Ross Report this week that he only wanted to be on the show if he could find himself a groundbreaking matchup. Well, he has certainly done that. Rhodes will be going one on one with his brother Dustin, aka WWE's Goldust.

The news was broken via the latest episode of Road To Double Or Nothing. It features Dustin talking about the unconventional relationship he has with his younger brother. "There is a rift between us. I don’t really know exactly what the problem is, or what that rift actually is, but it’s probably something to do with his upbringing," Dustin explains. He also admits that the match is more likely to be his last ride than a new beginning.

Perhaps the most interesting note to accompany this match is the fact that Dustin is currently still under contract with WWE. It was rumored that his contract had come to an end recently, however, he shot those rumors down on social media. In fact, at the time of typing this, Dustin, or Goldust, is still listed as an active Superstar on WWE's roster. He could well have been moved to the alumni section by the time you read this.

AEW needs Double Or Nothing to be a massive event with can't miss matches, and this is definitely one of those. Even though the match did happen in WWE, it took place when Cody was portraying the Stardust character. Stardust even gets a shout out during the video above but is bleeped out. This match will almost certainly be bigger and better than Goldust versus Stardust, and it could be the last time we ever see Dustin in the ring.
